  1. First off, your compression is a little high for pump gas. What size jets are in your carbs now? And are you at stock timing, all this comes into play with pump gas. You should be running at least a 280 main i would think, and maybe 27.5 pilots.
  2. Thanks for that info, nice to have someone that knows and willing to help.
  3. I just bought a set of 32mm mikuni tm flat side carbs, when i started to clean them i noticed that there were no idle air jets in them, there is a hole where they normally go but no jets. is this how they are made or has someone drilled them out? There is no threads in the hole to screw in any jet. Any help would be appriciated.
  4. Three heat cycles at about 10 minutes each, Then WOT until she begs for another rebuild. Rip it,, strip it,,and hair lip it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. Thanks for the help guys,, Im gonna be putting a new head thats been machined to 21cc with the domes recut. Hoping to stay in pump gas territory though.
  6. Cool, Im hopin for a decent gain after putting the money into those carbs. 6hp would be a gain i could actually feel and thats what im after. I have some good port work, Fatty pipes and vforce reeds. Im hoping for around 60 to 65 hp with all of it,,I weigh around 200lbs and need the extra ponies to keep up with my sons banshee.
  7. Thanks for the info, will be riding some this weekend to try them out. I hope they give a decent gain in power.
  8. Im trying to figure out where to start with jetting a set of 34mm mikuni vm carbs. Im swithching from a set of stock carbs with 330 mains 30 pilots and fmf needles in the middle clip. I have a stock stroke stock cylinder engine with an aggressive dune port and V force reeds. My 34mm carbs currenly have 25 pilots and 260 main jet, The needle jet is a 159 p-4 and the needles are 6DP1 , Any help with this would be greatly appriciated.
  9. That sounds more reasonable than some of the other answers ive had, Thanks for the info and i hope to help you out in return sometime.
  10. Im getting different info for the stock head dome sizes, Need some solid answers on this.
  11. Did you do a leak down test or check for air leaks when the BOG first started? Your jetting doesnt sound that lean but if your carbs werent clean through all the passages then you would have a lean condition no matter what jets were in it. And a good leak down test is a must when dealing with a lean situation.
  12. Do you already have a set of carbs for it?
  13. The main jets are the same but the pilots are totally different.
  14. Im switching from stock to 34 as well, mine are the round slide VM style i think. My stock carbs were jetted 330 and 30 pilots, I was advised by wild card racing to jet the 34s with a 280 main and 50 pilots to start with the needle set in the second clip.
  15. Im gonna tear them down tomorrow to see whats in them,,,Im not sure if the jetting is stock. Ill post what they have and get some more advice tomorrow. Thanks alot for your help and i hope to get your opinion again after i see whats in them.
  16. Im switching from stock carbs with 30 pilots and 330 mains with alba needles in the middle clip. Im going with a set of 34mm mikuni carbs and would like an idea on what jets i should start with, I have a stock stroke ,stock cylinder with a dune port. I have my timing set at +4 and have 155 psi compression. Any advice would be great, I know the main jet size will actually be smaller which i dont understand but im not sure how much smaller.
  17. Wait until you can run it for a while and get everything up to running temp. That could just be excess fuel mix in your pipe or your silencer packing may be soaked with fuel. Run it hard for a few minutes and see if it starts to clear up before you start tearing it apart. I had the same thing happen to me.
  18. My hats off to ya,, Thats some damn good fab work. Thanks for the vids too, this is a good thread.
  19. I use the lucas semi synthetic at 32-1 and have had good results so far.
  20. try lowering the idle adjustment on the louder side. i had the same problem and that fixed mine.
  21. Hate to sound ignorant,, but how do i PM someone?
  22. Im interested in those if he doesnt take em.
  23. Did you put any kinda lube on the crank shaft where the seal goes? if not then you should definately put some on there. The seal will probably do better during and after the leak down test.
  24. You will have to split the cases,,so you might as well get a complete gasket set.
