New Mods, loss of all low end power
JasonsBanshee replied to JasonsBanshee's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
The pilots are already a size bigger. I'm going to richen the clip and mains and see where that gets me. Here's what I got now 27.5 pilots clip one notch away from center closer to the blunt end 310 mains I'm in ohio @ 800 feet above sea level with temps in the teens and 20s. Mods CPI inframes Noss Head with 19cc domes K&N with no lid on the air box V force 3 reeds +4 timing Before the head and reeds my jetting was perfect. But the temps were also in the 70s when it ran best. So I'm going to move the clip down two notches to the sharper end, bump up to 330 mains, leave the pilots and adjust the air screws. I'm also switching to 100% 110 octane race gas and I'm going to change to Bel Ray H1R oil since I the Benol that I'm using can separate under 35 degrees. Hopefully this can get me where I need to be. -
New Mods, loss of all low end power

I pulled the plugs today and the bike is definitely lean. I'm going to get bigger mains and adjust the clip and air screws. I can't believe a head and reeds along with colder temps can throw the jetting off this much! -

When adjusting the air screws how much do you go each time? I want to say 1/4 turn at a time but I can't remember for sure. -

No, I've got all that on okay. Thanks for the thoughts though! -

Thanks, I do have it jetted for summer and haven't messed with it since. In the past on past bikes I've never had to change the jetting for winter. However, I did notice some blueing on my pipes right where they come out of the cylinders that I'd nave had before so maybe it is getting lean. I'll pull the plugs and see how they look. I may put the lid back on the air box to see if that helps any. -

Stockers Good idea on the air screws. I'll look into that as well. -

It's not a vacuum leak. A vacuum leak would cause it to run lean and rev high. Basically, I have lost a lot of low end power. When it gets going it screams. When I let of the throttle the RPMs come back down just like they should. I'm going to test the compression to see where I'm at. I've ran 20cc domes on my last bike and was able to run 93 with no problems. I don't mind running race gas because there's a gas station that sells 110 octane Cam II right down the street from my house. I've just never heard of loosing low end after these mods. I'll probably drain the tank and put straight 110 in it. I'm also going to change to a more winter friendly oil (currently running Benol) since it's been in the 20s out. -
I got my bike out for the first time in a month or so the day before yesterday and yesterday during our snow storm. Since the last time I'd rode it I've put a Noss Head with 19cc domes and V force 3 reeds in it. The last time that I rode it the bike was running great and my jetting was spot on. When I put the reeds in I moved the needle clip one notch toward the blunt end, just like I've always done when installing these reeds. When I put the head on I also installed some new plugs. Now the issue, I fired my bike up, let it warm up for a little bit and took off. As soon as I took off it would bog and die. Eventually I got it to take off but it still wasn't right. I got to messing around with it and noticed that the plug caps seemed to be a little loose on the plug wires. So I tightened them up and clip them back on to the plug. My bike is a 2004 with stock plugs and caps. How often do these need replaced? ( When I get the time today, I'm going to order a new set since they are so cheap.) So after I got the plug caps tight it didn't die anymore however I still have ZERO low end and I pretty much have to rev it up and dump the clutch or it wants to bog down really bad. It's never done this before so I have no idea where to start. Surely by only moving my needle clip one notch wouldn't cause this. I'm beginning to wonder if the gas is too low of octane and not burning fast enough. When I swapped the head I still had the 93 octane in it and with the 19cc domes I probably will need to run race gas. I had a full tank of 93 and I am planning to burn through it and start running race gas, I just didn't want to throw away a full tank of gas to go to race gas. So what are some symptoms of too low of octane fuel? I know you'll get pinging but can it actually cause low end power loss too? What do you guys think?

I was thinking about going with 35mm PWK. What do you think? Here's what I'll have when I'm finished building my motor. 4mil long rod Hillshooter port, case match port Noss head CPI inframe V force 3 +4 timing I am going to go ahead and buy my carbs or at least start looking and need to decide on what to go with.

What year? I was looking on a parts finder and saw some similar ones but the brackets are different. This is the LT500 caliper. You can see the bracket is different. It has an extra hole in it. Will this work?

Banshee HQ trip to Badlands in Attica, IN
JasonsBanshee replied to JasonsBanshee's topic in Riding and Events Forum
I plan to be there at open Saturday and ride all day then go home that night. I'd love to stay the night at a hotel and relax after a hard days ride but I have an open trailer and I don't trust people. Too many thieves out there. If I had an enclosed I'd be staying the night. -

I was wondering the same thing. Everyone I see in the pictures are on dirt tires. Since they have trails too I'm going on my dirt tires. I may bring paddles just incase. -

I was reading their website and learned that Badlands has new owners as of April 2008. They have a lot of plans for the park. -

Yea, from what I've seen they have a lot of sand. Go to google maps and look it up. You can zoom all the way down on it and look around. To learn more about Badlands click this banner. -

We'll definitely have to get together for my Grandpas. I want to take my bike down and explore it before I have a lot of people out there. I'm going to go there as soon as the weather breaks and we get some warmer temps. I hope you can make it to Badlands! I want a good turnout of Banshees. -

I've never been. I've checked out Youtube and watched some videos. It looks like a good place to ride. It's 3 hours from me so I'm going to give it a shot. -
I've been wanting to go to Badlands for a while now and it's simply been too cold! So I want to plan a trip to Badlands. I've set the date to go on Saturday, March 7th. If we can get a big enough turnout, I'm going to see about having this be an annual event. I'm also going to advertise it on my site to help for a good turnout of riders. So who all is down?
