I would believe the arctic cat 1000 is capable of putting out 172 HP, my Summit 800 puts out around 153 stock IIRC EDIT: They make 162 HP http://www.snowmobile.com/manufacturers/arctic-cat/2010-arctic-cat-m1000-sno-pro-162-review-1079.html

sandmanpnw- weren't you bitching about the turnout to the rides in Oregon?? If you expect people to travel from all over I'm sure people would need some notice in advance, not everyone lives 4 hours away and just pack up their pickup for the weekend. Tyler- Dont get the Californians mixed up with the rest of the west coast, not all of us are so serious about the whole drag racing thing. My bike is more of a duner for a reason and thats because I like to actually get out and ride not strictly just drag race. Although, it is fun to run what you brung and work your way to some bragging rights with your buddies, but all in all its about having a good ol time whether your hanging out, riding, drinking or whatever. I wish I had the funds to make it to this years ride in LS but theres no way thats happenin, id like to meet some of you guys as you seem preetty down to earth

To the statement about snowmobile cranks, ALOT of snowmobiles are fuel injected or have some type of high altitude compensating systems (HAC) which basically corrects the jetting when you change elevation levels. Plus most snowmobiles are also oil injected, that takes out the chance of possible error when it comes to mixing gas with oil, and most snowmobiles are set from the factory to run a little rich. One thing I have noticed from my snowmobiling experiences is that most avid snowmobilers are NOT cheap when it comes to their sleds, they are often time spending 10-15K for their sleds and when it comes to engine building, most will send it to a either a reputable dealer or engine builder for modifications, sure there are people who do mods themself but I dont think it is as often as the typical banshee rider. Snowmobile engines also come from the factory DESIGNED to put out high HP therefore alot of sleds do not see much more than a pipe/can & clutch setup. You really have to compare apples to apples here and a snowmobile is not the apple so to speak. Of all the hobbies I have ever done in my life, I will honestly say that the Banshee community has some of the cheapest and laziest people I have ever seen. I'm not saying everyone on here is cheap & lazy but there are alot of cheap asses on here that skimp out on quality parts and maintenance for their machines which is crucial. I agree with tylers statement too, there are way too many variables to pinpoint the failure directly to the rod. For instance, if your engine sees a lean condition and one cylinder starts to ceaze up, that would put a side load on the crank/rod and could essentially cause it to bend or break, thats why leak down test, proper jetting/tuning and other things are important for the longevity of these motors. Just my $.02, but for the record I dont know shit compared alot of people on here

12 inch hs customs kurl wheels - cheap

Chris is a good seller, someone snag these things up! -
To the OP- I dont blame you for being pissed about whatever caused the failure in your engine but you should have not skimped on having it assembled by a reputable engine builder. I have been running a hotrods 4mil crank (110MM) in my dune/drag ported engine since 2006 and it was built by a local reputable engine builder who's slogan is "dependable horsepower". Just like my engine builder, I'm sure Kevin @ HJR has his own proven ways on how to properly assemble his motors with parts he has experience with, next time flip the extra cash and let him assemble it that way there is one less variable to the equation if there is ever a problem & hope that they stand behind the products they sell and install.

Might work better if you try to plan it a ways out, that way if people from farther away want to come they have time to plan or save up money. If u did it next year I would come for sure.

Yeah your pretty much in the same situation as me since we live in the same area. The hq ride would be cool just to meet new people and see alot of peoples setups from here in real life. This year has sucked for me due to my financial situations and other hobbies, I havent rode at all yet this year and not sure when I will get to. I usually hit the Oregon dunes about 2-4 times a year so I am like dieing since I havent got to go yet this year. Me & the wife want to start traveling so maybe well have to save up for the trip out to LS for the HQ ride.

Convenient when its only about 375 miles from where you live, thats close to the same distance as it is from my house to Florence, Oregon. Make the almost 2,0000 mile trip out to Coos Bay and then I'll believe your dedicated. You guys bag on the "pacific northwest" people but your not the ones making a 2000 mile trip to go ride, not trying to start a big ol debate here just saying its a long fucken ways to LS. You mid west guys are missing out, there are 3 good dune areas that are within an hour of eachother here and each spot offers a different riding style, plus you get the nice cool breeze comin off the ocean for comfortable riding I would love to try and make it to the HQ ride at LS but right now financially I cant do it, I'm starting a new job July 16th @ Boeing so maybe I can justify going next year.
-
If ya'll are so dedicated howcome you guys dont make the trip out to the west coast???? You guys scared of riding some actual dunes or what???
-
It is kind of a short notice for people who live far away
-
If funds allow I'm going to try and make this ride

Are you a Redline Racing nut swinger???................................................ haha I Couldnt help myself, thats just usually how these type of threads go
-
Typically they do the sound checks on the big Holiday weekends but we have been stopped several times when it wasnt even a holiday weekend. They also set up like a road block on the south end when leaving Driftwood II campground, everyone headed out to the dunes is required to stop and get checked before proceeding out. Ive seen the same thing about the courtesy sound checks where they give tickets if they see you out in the dunes (if your over the DB limit). Better to be safe than sorry, plus it helps prevent get more riding areas shut down due to noise.

I agree with your statements, just because a certain pipe works good on one setup doesnt mean its going to work the same on the next, there are way too many variables within an engine to say that a certain pipe is going to work better. My motor was built around the LRD pipes that I run, I'm tempted to try a different set of pipes but I'm not sure if my motor will like CPIS or Shearers or Snipers better than my current LRD's.

Every time ive been checked in Oregon they test at 1/4 throttle. Back when I was younger I had a KX80, we lived in a neighborhood with a strict covenance so we used like a 8-10" piece of bicycle tube zip tied to the silencer so I could ride around the yard when I was bored. It actually made a huge difference believe it or not but looked kinda ghetto lmao

Looks killer man, I bought a thumb throttle off JD and it was a very smooth transaction as well

dune port banshee vs. stock yfz450 drag race
RC418 replied to willardwright59's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Ask him if he's confident enough to put the title of his bike on the line for a drag race? Make it a challenge and make him look stupid. -
I havent heard from him lately but Ive seen several of his ads on Craigslist, damn hes really making a reputation for himself thats for sure
-
Go with some Stellars, they are well worth the money. I bought some for my banshee and they were well worth the money!!

I've got a set of t6s for sale, $350 shipped within conus. Check the for sale section for my thread, if u have any questions let me know.

Anyone know what brand this swingarm might be?
RC418 replied to RC418's topic in General Banshee Discussion
The one shown in the pictures is not mine, a guy on Craigslist is selling it but didn't know what brand it was. I'm thinking about picking it up, it is a +6 supposedly. -
Anyone know what brand this swingarm might be?
RC418 replied to RC418's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Thanks guys. What is everyone's opinion on metal tech swingarms? Are they built well? I tried searching and only found a few threads but they were pretty old so I'd like to see what their reputation is now a days. -
Anyone have an idea of what brand this swingarm might be??

Honestly man, I'm sure many others have seen you mooching for parts around here too, and that would be my first sign to stay clear. I tried to help you out by giving u a free cut head to get ur bike up and running but if u are too cheap or poor to buy gaskets that is usually a good sign of someone who would skimp on replacing important parts or lacked on proper maintenance, just sayin....
