I guess its time to take the cover off. I replaced the clutch about 30 hours ago and put in three HD springs with the old weaker ones. What do I look for on the clutches? As far as slip goes, the only problem I had with the quad back when I replaced the clutch was a friend put in car motor oil instead of the special wet clutch oil and ran it for about half an hour until the clutch was no longer gripping. He called me and I picked my quad up, I drained the oil out and ran the quad for two full cycles (half hour each) to flush the stuff and get the clutch to grip again. I hadnt checked it since...I hope its not terminal

Thanks! Is this typical? This is the third time I change the oil on it with the magnetic tip plug and just noticed it.

How do you typically add photos to the posts here? Trying to post the drain plug photo.

Hey guys, changing the oil in my shee and found lots of metal shavings on the magnetic end of the drain plug. Is this pretty typical? Will post pic from laptop later tonight. Using my phone to start the post.

How much is the Serval cylinder for stock stroke crank? I don't see it listed in M&M's website. I have T-5's, VForce reeds, +5 timing (on the aftermarket plate), stock cylinders(minor clean up porting), stock carbs, K&N cone filter, and Cool Head, how much more HP can I expect? Should I change to dual filters for this set up?

We will be at Pismo for the weekend of april 10-11. Let me know if any of you can make it.

I have a camelback type backpack that has a drink tube that you bite on to drink. It has bladder for some Gatorade when riding in the desert, or iced cran/vodka (-; It has all the straps and extra little compartments for sorting your tools and stuff. Pretty neat for 40 bucks at a local sport store. They use them for hiking.

If you relocate the coolant overflow does it need to be higher than a certain level? I've thought of doing this as I just did a dc conversion and need the space for battery and not sure about specifics

Fuel/Oil mixture what does every 1 use?

My carbs tend to gum up as I dont ride that often and leak out the overflows when standing. I heard that draining the bowls will help with this problem.. Suggestions? Also I feel I dont have the knowledge to take them out and clean them. I guess I am scared I might screw up the settings or something like that. Since I dont have synctool or anything like that. If Anyone needs to do this in the near future I would greatly appreciate you guys posting some type of step by step procedure with photos.

I ran a 10w30 motor oil once because it was all I had on hand after a clutch swap. BIG MISTAKE! The thing was slippin so bad I drained it out, put 10w30 motul tranny fluid. Ended up flushing the thing about three times and re-adjusting the pancake bearing to get it going right. Never will I use anything but a TWO STROKE transmission fluid/oil. Just not worth the headaches. It is a bit pricier though, but I only ride about six to eight times weekends per year.

I run BR8ES all the time and they work great. I only ride between sea level and 1000 ft though.

Look into Kevin's (at herr jugs racing) 4 mil build with the port job on your jugs. That's what I would do.
-
Have the same issue on only one carb. Let us know what the problem was. I haven't dug in yet, still working on my DC conversion.
-
I had the same problem on my shee. I found that I packed the ball with too mych grease and when I put everything together the pancake adjuster would barely move, but this can be a wear problem as well on yours. Take it apart and mock it all up then pull the clutch lever before you re-install the cover. Make sure the entire clutch pack moves out when you pull on the lever. You sure nothing welded up (like your stock adjuster if you still have it, or rod/;ball)?
-
I recommend you use the good synthetic 10w-30 tranny oil. This will prevent your clutch from slipping and help all the internals keep cool.

Thanks bbcmudtruck. I am going to send my motor over to Kevin and have him to do the whole thing. I do have a brand new Barnett Clutch and pancake bearing in there that I plan on leaving until it burns up and will be replacing the basket with a billet piece for the mean time. As far as the intake side goes, well I'm relying on Kevin to steer me in the right direction so that everything is hooked up the right way. Like I told him, I want bragging rights next time I'm out riding. And I plan to go to Pismo Beach for Easter Weekend. What trans mods are you referring to?
-
Thanks again you guys. In talking Kevin last night I think I've settled on getting the MX/hardcore port work with the 4 mil build. I just wanted to know if there was some sort of dyno chart data available so that I could compare the two.
-
Thanks. I began to assume that was the reason for the mx port. I am now more interested to know how much more the dune port would put out than a mx on a drag race up a sand dune......Because at the end of the day I want to get to the top faster than all my friends with bragging rights and a sleeper with a boost bottle :-)
-
LOL! My cousin rides a honda 450 and he learned the hard way how to not gun the twist throttle on my quad. coming up a dune.
-
Thanks. where can I get the magnum billet? Is it difficult to break apart the gear from basket. Last time i took it apart I noticed some play between the gear and basket. How long do you think I have to replace it? What will hapen if I continue to use it this way? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the advice. And fyi she came with the boost bottle sheefreak. As far as riding well I prefer the dunes hands down balls out running but they are a bit far for me (glamis 12 hour drive, pismo 4 hr drive) so I end up doing mostly dirt trail riding at Carnegie a local park run by the state of CA. Trails are two quad widths wide since they are two way and are very steep mostly for dirt bikes. I just cant get myself to ride anything but the shee. Racing is not typical at dirt park but almost always end up happening at Glamis and pismo on crazy holiday weekends. Anyone know where I can compare the two set ups? Kevin's a great guy and I dont question his recommendation just want more info/knowledge before I shell out the cash. How does it compare to a 4 poke quad? I can take on 450's on sand up hills neck to neck and ocassionally just beat them but some take me all the way. On the flats its more of a matter of getting the good launch though.

Got it thanks. Do you have pricing for all Vision X stuff or just these lights? I am considering a helmet light with battery set up and of course two pairs for my truck toys as well. So would need pricing for those. Also Snopczynski how did you mount these on the stock location? Thanks

Thanks a lot. I appreciate the info. Any particular battery in mind (size make or other)?
