  1. Yep, hands down Custom Axis is the best in the business. Odd timing... I JUST had the opportunity today to work on a Raptor 250 today with Motowoz shocks. What I like about them, is they use mostly the same technology that is used by the major offroad shock manufacturers: Bilstein, Fox, King, and Swayaway. What I don't like about them, is their background... they haven't been in business for very long compared to the competition which makes me fear that they will soon be out of business. It will probably end up turning into a TCS-ish situation where they get bought out, and neutralized. Parts will become obsolete shortly thereafter. I would stick with a big, well known company. It wouldn't take more than a few months for a company to go under, and you never be able to find parts again. Custom Axis is owned by Penske... they're not going anywhere. Next one down on the list is Elka.
  2. That stuff looks like it works good. I've used the Powder Buy the Pound stripper, and it works in about an hour as well. Sucks that the smallest quantity solvent kleene will sell it in is 5 gallon buckets... It's like 350 bucks for 5 gallons I've heard.
  3. The dunes are never packed. It's 118,000 acres. The busy areas at glamis, obviously, are Olds, Gecko, The washes up to wash 10, and Vendors. Any "gathering place" will be pretty busy, but out in the dunes, it's not uncommon to go on a 3 hour ride and never see another person. Especially at Gordon's. The dunes do get pretty chopped up on busy weekends, though. Just hope for wind in the middle of the night, and get up for an early morning ride and have a blast on the fresh sand. Presidents day daytime temps usually hover in the low to mid 70's... night times can drop into the 30's.
  4. That's a pretty cool site. Nice post. The wizard only goes back to 1999, but I think this is the same blue... I'm not sure... http://www.colorrite.com/product/yamaha-0583-deep-purplish-blue-solid-e-dpbse-1914.cfm
  5. I'm not sure of a place to find an exact match either, but even if you did find the exact paint they used, keep in mind that paint fades color over time. Being that you have an 88, it might be in your best interest to try to match an aftermarket paint to the current color it is now. I can guarantee that it won't be the same color as it was from the factory.
  6. Jeffy, I've got a question for you... I need a leather seat cover repaired. The only issue, is it's on my Audi. See, the other day, it was really cold. I put my knee on the bottom panel of the seat to grab something on the other side of the car, and I, uh, put a hole in the cover. Apparently I knelt down on the edge of a book, and the corner went right through it. If I pull the cover off, does it sound like something that is do-able? it's just a square panel right in the middle of the seat. I'll have to pull it apart, and see, because they're heated seats. I think I can get it down to just the bare leather cover.
  7. Damnit Shannon. Stop your bullying right now, before the White Knight scorns you.
  8. Fireball Engineering makes great arms. Personally, I wouldn't run ball joints on anything I own. I have never built a suspension system with ball joints, either. This argument could go back and forth for ever, but if you buy the FK brand Teflon heims, you will NEVER have an issue with them. They will outlast you and your bike. They are 10x stronger than those tie rod ends, I mean, ball joints. FK also sells boots for them that seal off completely. Better than ball joint boots every thought of being. Anyways, reservoir or not, it's up to you. For riding trails, they are not necessary, whatsoever. It's a common misconception that reservoirs on ATV shocks make your shocks run cooler. The fact is, ATV shocks do not displace enough oil to generate enough heat to make a difference. ESPECIALLY front shocks. I have dyno'd shocks side by side and noticed a temperature difference less than 4 degrees F over 400 FULL strokes @ 40 SPM. Not significant enough to make any difference. The ONLY benefit to running reservoirs on ATV shocks is to keep the oil and nitrogen separate, preventing foaming of the oil, thus maintaining dampening characteristics. Again, on the dyno, I show a difference of about 16% dampening change in 400 full strokes. 90% of people wouldn't be able to distinguish the two apart. You can buy fireball arms directly from them via their contact information under the sponsors tab here. As far as shocks go, if you're on a budget, contact Works Performance. If you don't have a budget, get a hold of Custom Axis Shocks. They make the best shocks on the market, hands down.
  9. dis hear tread has dun run its coarse we shuld muve on to da next wun.
  10. Depending on how tight your trails are, will limit your options. Super tight trails, I would run stock width/length everything. If you have wide open trails, run +2+1 A-Arms, and maybe a +2 or +4 swingarm. As far as shocks go... What is your weight, ready to ride? (With gear, helmet, everything)
  11. LOL. It's just too easy. I'll stop.
  12. Ohhh, sneaky sneaky!!! Again, proof our education system has failed us... All he would have had to do was click on your profile to see your age...
  13. He's 17. Almost legal to buy tobacco products.
  14. You're absolutely correct. I highlighted it for the punctuation error.
  15. That's what makes this forum so great. Low moderation. If you want everything G rated and heavily sifted through, I suggest you try Planet Sand. I hear they're banning members ever day. I've never been there though, so I can't say for sure. Just going off of hearsay.
  16. Your tires are on upside down.
  17. Haha. I generally don't like the word "retarded" used in any context, but in this case, it's quite possible the subject is indeed mentally handicapable. There's just been a great influx of completely unreadable posts lately. Either our public school system is so far gone, or kids just aren't paying attention anymore. It's disheartening, really.
  18. Yeah, he's on right now, probably thinking of stupid questions to ask.
  19. Since this has turned into a typo thread, might as well make it complete. Obviously I didn't correct MISSING punctuation. I didn't have three hours to spare.
  20. Yeah. They're all over eBay. Cyclegear carries them as well.
  21. It was a joke, because dildo ran his shocks upside down.
