  1. ok sweet then i think im definantly going to pick one up soon.. but what size domes should i go with though??? im not really worried about making to much power the bike is already fast enough for me lol... but i just wanna keep its gas consumption as minimal as possible... because i absolutly refuse to put on a ugly ass desert tank... and just keep it on pump gas. Also what about my crank?? iv heard people say that they should be welded even with just bolt on's?? But lastly the timing plate... would it be a good idea?? im not to crazy about making the bike any faster iv already got my self in some trouble cause of that lol. Just going for reliabilty and some more low end power for those tight trails. Lol srry bout all the questions just wana get it right the first time
  2. was thinking bout picking up a aftermarket head for my shee and have some questions... first off would it be a good idea for reliability? and if so what head would you recommend and what size domes? my shee it a trail bike and by that i all i ride is tight trails but do have spots to top her out. but basically i just want to make it as reliable as possible and not kill my gas mileage.... i unfortunately go for very long rides with four strokes... damn them.. i can out run them but they can ride all day and never fill up .. so i dont want to turn my shee into even more of a gas hog... but basically would it be a good idea for me to get a new head??? 3. well this weekend on our trip out to the desert i managed to roll the shee ..... wasnt paying attention and slide into a embankment n flew off the bike into a bunch of cactus and busted my self all up.... luckfully i wasnt hurt to bad and neither was my bike... well fairly unscaved... managed to break a nerf bar, headlight, n ruff up my plastics pretty good .I definitely feel stupid but i also i learned my lesson and was just lucky i was wearing a helmet. But basically i need a stock new headlight or just the housing, and possibly some black uncut plastics that r fairly cheap if anybody has either ??
  4. ok so after this weekends trip and my friends ordeal hes in sort of a delima ... but basicaly my friend accidentally hit another guy on his dirt bike this weekend and the other guys bike was wrecked and now my friend has to replace the parts need to fix the others guys bike but unfortunately doesn't have much money.. hes a good friend of mine n hes living on his own going to college and unfortunately ran into abit of bad luck... and someone at the hq might have a good deal so what im asking is does anybody have any parts or know where to get some for a yamaha xt225 serow.. im just looking for cheap used parts.... My friend feels really horrible about this whole ordeal and just needs alittle help.. so if anybody knows of anything it would be greatly appreciated Parts needed: left side cover sproket cover stator flywheel foot peg shifter shift shaft
  5. ok so right now to pull the clutch lever on my banshee is pretty hard... i mean its do able but for long trail rides like i do involves alot of clutch play and pulling it in all the time can get tiresome and im thinking its alittle stiffer than it needs to be.... right now i have some aftermarket clutch springs in it and i noticed that they were alittle longer and stiffer than the stock springs?? so my question is do you think putting the stock springs in would make the clutch pull alittle easier or are the aftermarket springs better to have?? keep in mind i got the bike with the aftermarket springs in it...
  6. ok so this weekend me and a couple friends head out to some land we own out in the desert to do some riding now that the weather has gotten nice. Basically we get there at noon gorgeous day 75 degress and just a tiny breeze and unload and start riding around in the hills behind camp. After awhile we all got the need for speed and headed for the nice dirt county road that leads to the property and start hauling ass much ass as possible... well i followed them around cause nothing could even think about keepin with my shee but any ways at first we headed of going north down the road that leads to a canyon and all i gotta say sliding round coners right on the side of a little cliff enbankment with a couple hundred foot crevice below u n sixth gear was a rush.. but anyways after we got down as far as we could go we turned around and headed the other way. This time i wnated to see what the shee could really do so i got some distance from my friends and opened her up... i gotta say that this thing is faaassstt and was finally toped it out got goin fast enough to almost have my helmet come off...made sure it was on alot tighter after that! after awhile i noticed my friend that had been followin me on his 230f wasnt behind me anymore ( i was on a staright away where you can see a couple miles down the road. So i turned around and headed back to look for him. a mile or two back i found his bike by itself just sitting on its kickstand and didnt see him so i road up the road abit and saw a group of people satnding around someone and right then my heart just dropped.... so i road over to see everyone standing around what was a bike... i turns out that my friend that was trying to follow me ( i was going really fast) was haulin ass around a corner and there was another person there on a bike but he was riding in the middle of the road... buecause as we all do when riding with your friends you ride to the side so you dont dust them to bad... but because of this my friend hit him when he was coming around the corner at about 50mph. The other guy wasnt going very fast so when my friend hit him his peg wet into the side of the other guys bike and complelty ripped out the side of his bike and sent the other guy over his handle bars. my friends peg complelty shattered his clutch cover basket and plates... utter carnage... but also when they hit he sent the guy flying over his handle bars and down the road abit.... but the best part is the thing is my friend through all of this never even dropped his bike which has come out completly unharmed... the only thing all the oil the was in his case is now all over my friends bike but thank god niether of them were harmed through this ordeal.. the other guy was thankfully wearing alot of paddding. my friend gave the other guy abit of money for his bike and both appologized for the accident and were just thankful that was no one was hurt... just goes to show how quickly things can go bad when your having so much fun... but anyways i jusy thought i would share my crazy adventure this weekend!
  7. ok thanks i think i probably didnt go long enough in sixth i killed it pretty much when i toped it out n let the throttle out but other than that i did everything to the T but thanks again for the advice
  8. ok so im finally getting the shee tuned perfect and went to go do a plug chop the other day and now im abit confused...... right now i have 280 mains, 27.5 pilots and air screws 2 turns out and i gotta say this thing is fast when its tuned properly but besides that i started out around 340's and worked my way down to the 280's and it runs great but when i did the plug chop they didnt come out how they were supposed to?? i pulled the plugs and they a brownish tint to them more or less in the middle n towards the top... not the 2mm high chocolate brown ring at the bottom or whatever its supposed to be... but the thing is with the 290's it bogs abit n seems alittle ruff on the topend and with the 280's it runs flawlessly ... the only thing i can think is i didn't do the plug chop correctly, i ran the bike at wot through all of the gears when it was warmed up with the new plugs and got to the end of sixth and pulled the clutch n killed it. the only thing is is didnt continue to hold the throttle after i killed it.. could this have possibly be the cause of my problem?? well anyways if anybody has any advice i would greatly appreciate it MODS: pro circuit pipes n silencers k&n with proflow boysen power reeds
  9. you may be to rich and thats why your plugs are wet.. but generally your plugs will always be alittle wet simply because when u kill the quad the engine rotates a few more times without firing there for spraying them with gas that wont be burned.. if they are completely soaked in alot of gas then your jetting is probably rich. the best way to resolve your problem is just to do a proper plug chop to determine your jetting and once you do that and it comes out correctly you should be fine. heres some stuff to hopefully help you out: http://www.dfn.com/benkaren/jetfaq.html good luck
  10. defiantly tempting but im going to send this on to my friend and see what he says.. the only thing is i think hes really looking for a trade or at least flipping his other quad over first to get some cash and im all the way down here in texas ... but i appreciate the post and if anybody else has anything please let me know
  11. iv been looking around for a 88-89 250r quad for a friend of mine and was wondering if any body has one or knows of any good deals?? im basically looking for a cheap 250r project bike.... he has a 2001 kawasaki bayou 220 he is willing to trade ( is in good running condition, kept under cover, and always well mantained, new tires, has title and keys)
  12. i would guess 280-290's for your bike and also make sure your airscrews are tuned properly of your having problems at the bottom of the gears
  13. defiantly a jetting issue if the bike runs perfect other than up top.... i would say your either really lean or rich on the jets, i had the same problem at first and it turned out i was way rich on my mains. what mods, elev. , temps. , and what jets are in there now? there could also be other problems causing this as well but proper jetting is essential in a banshee and the last thing u want to do i burn her down...
  14. best of luck with your bike man! let us all know how it goes and i think your gonna like what u have in the end cause theres nothin like a shee
  15. ok so the other day me and a friend went down to the desert to do some riding. i took my banshee this time since i finished it and all i gotta say is that thing is wicked.... lifting the front up n sixth gear was a rush but besides that my friend and i have been riding for years together and unfortunately he still is riding his honda rancher and by no means can he keep up... so i let him go for a spin on the shee and now he is thinking of picking up a quad like mine. but basically the deal is he doesn't have much money and the bike would be more of a project. he doesn't really want to pick up a shee n copy me, so i was thinking of possibly a 250r??? but basically im looking for something that can keep up with my shee that is fairly cheap to pick up and work on.. so if anybody has any suggestions on what he should pick up it would be greatly appreciated
  16. had the same problem with my 87 shee... i picked it up for 1000 bucks and ran then... but just like you i would fix one thing and then i would go ride it and it just seemed like more problems would arise. i was to the point of drvining it off a cliff r selling it to hardly break even... but i kept my cool and finished the bike and just slowly worked through all the bs and in the end i have somehting to show for it and all i gotta say is a banshee is just as realiable or even more so if you just take your time and eventually u will have one sick machine. cause i know i do
  17. yes the red yellow wire is what i would use for your power supply n just run an inline switch if u want to be able to turn em off.
  18. i would use the green wire going to your headlight as the power source for your led lights that way they come on wen u turn on your headlights... lol but right now all u did was wire up a really expesive kill switch... but this should also help you out: http://www.dfn.com/benkaren/elecfaq.html hope this helps
  19. yea the plugs are gapped right i double checked everything with my clymers..... but as for it not reving out, iv been ridding for years and have a few other bikes and this doesnt feel anything like the top of a gear.. but most of the time i cant even get to more than half throttle really before having to shift and it does it in sixth gear as well. becasue it pulls and continues to pull hard and then bam a wall! so i pretty sure its electrical... well we will see when i get my new parts .... thanks for the sudgestion but i think im just gonna have to get out there and tinker wth it
  20. I have a set of pro curciut platnium pipes and they are alittle faded and have some rust spots and was wondering the best way to polish and restore them?? p.s. the $ was supposed to be &
  21. thanks guys i think im going to start to fine tune my jetting when it warms up... cause its like 12 degrees outside right now.... but i whent ahead and picked up a good oem stator and if nothing else it will be good to replace the old rusty one in there.. so ill let u know how everything goes
  22. thats what i thought but its rich if anything.. the problem is very similar to what was happening before except not nearly as bad so im thinking my stator is going bad.... but as for now i have 27.5 pilots, 310 mains, needle clip middle position and my mods are procuruit pipes, k&n filter with proflow, and no snorkel with lid on, 50-60 degrees and im about 5000 absl... so i dont think its jetting Oh and yes the bike does smoke but just as much as it should though... itll put out some when i first start it and if i get into the throttle abit... but no there is not a ton of smoke billowing out just as much a healthy 2 stroke should
  23. thansk for the advise but the bike runs great and hardly smokes at all and runs flawlessly untill u get towards the very top of the gear. but the electrical is all brand new, with tors removed, and has a new good ignition coil on it. so i think im just gonna pick up a new stator if nothing else it will help solve future problems.. once again thanks ps i had 310's in to start with and to work my way down
  24. thanks thats what i needed to know.. but am i gonna need to buy two of them ??
  25. ok so awhile ago my shee wouldnt rev all the way out and would pop and sputter and had starting issues and i can to the conclusion of it being my flywheel. after i replaced the flywheel my shee runs 120% better but still has little trouble on the topend. now it will rev almost all the way out but still seems to hit a wall at the top. it doesnt really sputter or pop to much anymore, but now it just kinda hits a wall and starts to cut in and out. The thing is when i pulled the flywheel the stator was pretty ruff. it was badly rusted and the wires were alittle frayed, so i cleaned up the rust as best as i could and fixed the wires ans cleaned it up with electrical cleaner. its still not perfect but the bike starts on the first kick everytime and runs great but till i hit the top of any gear and then i just hits al wall. so im wondering if i should just go ahead and replace the stator because it seems to be an electrical isue still?? ps i have 27.5 pilots, 310 mains, needle clip middle position and my mods are procuruit pipes, k&n filter with proflow, and no snorkel with lid on, 50-60 degrees and im about 5000 absl
