  2. ok,,,im drunk and tired so....the reasom i asked about the clutch lever is if there isnt a little play the cutch will not disengage all the way causing you to burn some shit up, i had this same problem with my first shee andf thought it ran strong,,,after i hadthe clutch replaced there was a noticable differance,,,,i still cant see a stock 400 beating me tho cause i raced a heavily modded 400ex and i had a bad clutch,junk tires,and only pipes on my previous banshee and smoked him badly,,,,,,
  3. your right,,,there shouldnt be the slightest problem at all,,,even with a stock banshee you should pull away heavily against a stock 400 4 stroke. if it runs and revs good,,,you have gotta be having clutch isuess to where its not engaging all the way and slipping badly. is there any play in the clutch lever or is it tight?

  5. well its easy to lose power in 2nd while climbing a hill,,,if you pull the clutch in and are climbing a hill you lose it right there,,,you have to have rpms up and let loose on it again to compensate for the lack of momentum, and remember,,, you cant just slip the clutch at low rpm's and expect a 2 stroke to just scream,,,,,you gotta crank on that throttled and hang on!
  6. im new to this site but have been ridind banshees for years. you said sluggish off the start,,,,,first problem right there,,,a bone stock banshee off the start revved correctly and let loose in the powerband will not be sluggish at all,,,it should scream and kill any stock 400 out there,,,,im not tryin do down you at all cause for one, im new here and for another some do on this site to newbies(no offense but true), either your shee runs like shit or you dont know how to ride,,,,again,,,no offense.......what do you mean when you say sluggish? i got a 410 stroker right now but my previous banshee had a stock motor with pipes only and off the start, revved and go, there should be no (sluggishness) at all.....just my 02.cents,,,anyone disagree?

  8. anyone ever run stock 400ex rear tires on a banshee?? i put a set on my other banshee and they hook up quite well,,,any other recomendations will help me out,,,,right now im ridin in hard pack dirt, some looser stuff as well,,,i know the 400ex tires will hook up good in this,,,,what else?

  10. just curious if anyone was near south bend indiana and could give me some good riding spots,,,i got a few but havent lived here in 10 years and alot has changed. also if anyone around here could recommend a local place to get some good port work done or else i will ship it if i have to,,,if i do ship it out who would anyone recommend for some good,quality porting??? its been awhile guys so bare with me here,,,its all starting to come back to me though,,,,,lol
  11. ya,,i'll probably just run the stock head on it till i do a tear down on it this winter,,im not gonna trust this guy telling me its a 410 stroker motor till i find out for myself. i cant even tell how fast it really is with these junk tires(spider claws) i get nothing but tire spine even on asphalt. it will wheelie up to third gear tires spinning the whole time,,,,lol...anyone ever use stock 400ex rear tires on a banshee? they hook up great....
  12. so if my compression is at 130 right now and i throw a coolhead on it and run say,,,,20cc domes in it can i get away with 93 octane and what would 20 cc domes boost my compresion to? the only reason i ran half race fuel was to clean the system out a little bit,,i used to run 93 octane mixed at 32:1 with belray oil on my old piped banshee,can i run it a bit leaner?,,,im running 40:1 until this tank is gone then back to 93 octane. how much of a performance gain will the coolhead with 20cc domes give me? it will be ported for sure this winter after i see whats been done to this poorly maintained banshee,,,idiot had a stock foam filter that was just a clump of hard ass dirt,,,changed the oil and it was blacker than coal,,,,stretched out chain had to be replaced(done today) and the whole chain slider set had to be replaced,,,among other things it does run suprisingly strong
  13. nope no spacer,,im at sea level. when i got it the other day i ran it down the road a couple times,,,after i shut it dow nsmoke just kept coming out of both sides of exhaust,,,i drained the gas and ran half race fuel and half 93 at about 40:1 to clean all the bad gas and or rich mixture previous idiot had in it. no longer smokes at all,,,just at start up as any 2 stroke should when cold. i rode today for about an hour and it runs alot stronger than a piped banshee,,,has keihin carbs,,,not sure what size and have to do a tear down to find out whats been done to it.gonna put a cool head on it,,,what size domes should i run?
  14. ok,,,im a newbie here so please bare with me. i just got my banshee out of layaway,it suppossedly has a 410stroker moter in it,,,i bought it at a used cycle shop and thats all the guy knows. i had a stock banshee a couple years ago that was just piped and k&n filter,,its definately alot faster than that. sadly enough it has a stock head on it and junk tires. i ran a compression check on it today and only came up with about 130 on both sides,,,i hear no piston slap whatsoever,,,,,seems really low,,,about where should i be and what possibilities of it being so low? any replies appreciated

  16. thats the problem,,the guy has no idea about what hs been done as far as porting and what not,,,,all he knows is its a 410 stroker motor and cant contact the previous owner. i was just curious in some opinions and i know its hard to say,thanx for the replies and any future ones.....
  17. your right about the hp, aguy that did some motor work for me told me that and he dragged his running on alcohol, 5.9 in the 1/8 so i figured he knew,,,but you only pointed out about me being wrong on the stock hp and didnt address the question,,,,thanx
  18. i just bought or put on layaway i should say, an 89 banshee that has a 410 stroker motor in it. i bought it from a used cycle shop for $2250. all he knows is that it has a 410 stroker motor in it, i looked at the carbs and it has keihin carbs on it,not sure what size they are. i guess what my question is i know a stock banshee comes with about 43 hp stock,,,,could anyone tell what this 410 might put out and what kind of horsepower? and it obviously would have been ported? any replies appreiciated
