you won't be able to "tune" your carburetors for trail conditions. I mean it is a 2stroke and it loves revs, can't really change the nature of the beast ..but as long as you keep it on the pipe, you'll be okay just get some seat time. But if anything a fourstroke might be more suitable for how you want to ride. Bumping the compression, a set of good trail pipes, and advancing the timing will help with low/mid power and will smooth out the lightswitch power delivery. This thing stock or you got mods? if so list em

Changing the Transmission fluid?

Make sure you're spinning that bolt counter-clockwise -
A well known secret in the banshee community, I too use the freeze & butter method, One thing though stay away from maragarine as it is high in trans fatty acids and that might ruin the finish of your pipes. I prefer plain ol stick butter, because you can unwrap one end and baste those pipes like a turkey. I just did this with my shearer out of frames cleared the steering stem like a charm! GOod luck man!

Too fuckin' funny. -
If you don't have a clymer's manual, get one. You're banshee will love you for it. And as someone said, whack the bowls lightly with a screwdriver handle might free up the floats if theyre stuck.. As to the carbs there is really nothing to them, they are simple, just have a clean area to work with as there are some small parts that are easy to lose.
-
I imagine the left carb is leaking out of the bowl? Just tightening might work or you'll need a new gasket. And if its spitting gas out the overflow of both carbs, you need to adjust your floats. And sounds like you need a new o ring on the exhaust flange..

Nice deal right there

Nut size is 32mm same as front sprocket, best way would be to pull stator side cover and use a flywheel holder and then take basket nut off..or you can stick a rag in between the gears.. -
Just to update incase anyone happens to make the same mistake.. The washers were the problem, i pulled the carbs put the washers on the mains and off it went.. All was well til 2 miles out in the woods it up and quit..electrical gremlins..but that's another story..
-
Try and jew him down anyways, what the hell?
-
Hmm as i just looked through my box of jets, i realized in there lays the 2 washers that go with the mains..Oops! Can't see that causing the problem im having though..Any thoughts?

Lowering the needle leans it out correct?
-
it's definently not the slides, they are in correctly and synched by eye, probably not 100% but pretty damn close..As for pilots I've had 25's in it, the 27.5's cleared it up a little but not by much, I ran out of time last weekend, and im going out this friday, just trying to get some insight, I will try a 30 in it and see what happens, Just to me it seems like its the needle.. Any other ideas fellas? Keep em coming! thanks!

Hey all, i've been trying to dial my jetting in and this is where i stand.. Stock mikuni's still with tors caps 27.5 pilots 1.5 turns out 310mains. Here's the deal, bike starts up and idles okay maybe just a tad high, but i'll take off apply 1/8th throttle, as it gains rev's it hits a flat spot where it sputters and pings before it gets on the pipe, It'll do this in any gear if i let the rpm's drop low. But once it gets on the pipe its good to go all the way out 6th it screams.. Also it's more widespread across the band when put on a load, so as in going up a small hill, It's either balls to the wall or nothing. If i pull choke out to first detent while its acting up it gets worse. Also left pipe has more oil coming out exhaust than right, I took choke plunger out seemed to be okay, except it never stays stuck out when pulled. Should i try leaning out the needle on notch?? I was thinking about float adjustments too, So please any insight on this would be highly appreciated. Going out this weekend to play with her again, I go to the local dragstrip they're closed for the season and i've got probably half mile of pavement to play on, plus there are trails for miles branching out every which way. Any help would be appreciated here's my specs on bike. '97 .020 forged wiseco's (~2 hours) Pro circuit pipes Toomey 2 into 1 filter +4 timing Not sure on elevation roughly 750'-1000' stock carbs 1.5 turns 27.5 310 Thanks in advance

Get ya a clymers manual if you don't have one...first I'd tear em back apart pull jets out and spray it out real good.. Need to know what kind of mods and other variables too -
type f all the way
-
Did you hold throttle wide open when kicking til needle stops on gauge?
-
Get a clymers manual first off, best investment you can get... I figure you didnt hold throttle wide open while kicking, so it won't climb as far as it should..but i may be wrong..does tester have same length threads as plugs? And before taking jugs off make sure you drain the coolant out of the jugs like a 10mm bolt on the side of each ..if not when you pull it off the deck all that coolant will run in the bottom end Edit: kodie you out of cambridge?? I'm out by st. clairsville ever go out pogues?

Hey, atleast he'll save precious time by not having to trim those 3 fingernails now. Think positive
