  1. Bike is all stock, pipes, bore the whole shebang. This bike has been rode hard and put away wet. All vins are ground off, the bike was stolen and recovered so who knows what kind of life this poor girl has had. But for $120.00 value on a trade I couldn't go wrong. But yeah like I said I completely choke off the air with my palms kick it twice and it fires, i pull my hands off and the gas drips off my hands from blowing back out the airbox side. Where would i look for an air leak? The crossover is good and everything else seems mated up.. This thing has got me stumped fellas. Thx for the replies
  2. Hey no worries not going to offend me.... But yeah common sense says that...but I don't see anywhere where there could be that big of an air leak...Everything is buttoned up tight... You say carb restriction, but where????? I mean I'm not the greatest mechanic out there but I'm pretty familiar with the operations of a carburetor, Have had my hands in quite a few holley 750 vaccum and mechanical secondary carbs... and to be honest there isn't shit in these things. what am I overlooking??? someone chime in please What about reeds???? Like I said I'm not much of a two stroke guy..
  3. Dunno man, stock I assume I don't have the greatest eyesight but i know the mains are 200's Update on today, I figured okay, this thing is getting way too much air not enough fuel, i goes out, place both palms over inlets of carbs kick it once nothing kick it twice it fires, pull hands away gas shoots out the inlets onto my hands(REEDS???) but the bikes running, i give her gas she takes it more and more it loves the revs...as long as i keep the rpms up it keeps running but i let it get down to see if it'll try and idle it just bogs down and quits, and then its flooded, hold it WOT kick it once it lives again...same deal....So atleast im getting closer to figuring out the situation....I know the bike needs a top end, but i've seen worse that ran believe me.... I'm just trying to see how my clutch came out because it is still untested, Would like to test the clutch before i go ahead and tear apart the top end.... I figure i'll look at the cylinder walls and if they arent bad maybe a hone and order a std size piston and ring.. So what's the deal guys It fires when i choke the carbs... (with my hands) but spits fuel back at me and runs....is this a reed situation....or is it the top end???
  4. Nah bike has never been apart and i put the same bowl back on the same carb.. Anybody need any parts?????
  5. Float seems to be adjusted properly, and i know the bike is due for a topend, but nevertheless it should still run, Gauge is a NAPA gauge, and after about 10kicks at WOT it stopped reading any higher thx for the reply
  6. Gotta update this, cuz i'm bout ready to hang up it up with this pos... Pilot circuit isn't clogged, Pilot jets no obstruction and there is no obstructions in the body itself... This thing is really giving me a headache guys, I've had the carburetors apart numerous times, new jets and floatvalves in it too.. I just can't see anything wrong with the carbs...Did a compression check both cylinders dead on at 90psi , i know not great, but shouldn't be a problem there..the only other thing is the reeds, I really don't know what im looking for but the reeds are laying flat against the cage , and when kicked over you can see them open up... Another thing this morning just for shits and giggles I went out and kicked it over once, kicked it one more time and it fired, idled rough, but i opened up the throttle and it took the revs but then bogged down and quit, i then realized i forgot i had a rag loosely stuffed in both carbs. This thing has never fired on its own and it did with a rag stuffed in it. I took rags out tried to start it and nothing, put them back in and nothing, i don't know what the fuck this things deal is...Someone's gotta have an idea, Please help before i sink this pos in the closest pond i can find
  7. Lol I got fuel out the tank, out the petcock, into both carbs, the bowls were both full on the carbs.. but the plugs were bone dry when i pulled them. So i mean it's got to be carburetor related??? Someone earlier mentioned reeds, but I mean i inspected them and the bend was in spec...and there was no cracks or anything...But like I said I'm not sure what I'm looking at either, If someone would like to elaborate on reeds I'd appreciate it
  8. Ah fuck, lost the little valve that the float presses against, Think I had it sitting in my lap and I sprung up and now its MIA. Eh haste makes waste I suppose...Ordered a carb rebuild kit. Guess it's time to degrease the rest of the bike..The stock mikunis shined up pretty nice
  9. Jets are clear, the slides are in the right direction, Gas is fresh, It's just not getting to the cylinders. As for compression I don't know im sure it could use a set of rings ..but it starts right up on a prime...I just don't understand why it's not getting fuel to the cylinders..I work on cars more than anything, and i really dont understand the whole reed deal, I took them out and inspected them but I'm not sure what im looking for. Any other ideas, I cleaned the carbs im gonna pop em back on today, and give her a shot. Hopefully it'll magically fix itself but i doubt it..More ideas are appreciated
  10. Yeah it's hooked up...
  11. Hey all new to the forum, acquired a yfz350 on a trade, bike is complete and original. 99 model, When I got it the clutch side cover was off and i was told that the clutch needed attention. Tthere was play in basket and ring gear, so i replaced the basket with another oem housing. Anywho, I'm getting no fuel to the cylinders...the bowls are full of gas, . But i kick and i kick and nothing, plugs are bone dry and carbs full of gas..but the bike will fire right up when i take the airbox off and shoot some premix in the carbs Took both carbs apart blew them out with air and didn't see any kind of obstruction of any sorts. Got a clymer manual on order been waiting on it for 2 weeks ughhh local bike shop. Anybody have any ideas on what im not seeing/overlooking?? Thanks for your time
