Outer wears will actually repell water, if you don't believe me try it! I ran my k&N's with outerwear's under the kitchen faucet and it just beads off. Even so I would run an airbox if I was running in the wet and mud!

Hi guys, I was reading this site a while ago http://www.dfn.com/benkaren/jetfaq.html not sure if anyone thinks it's good or not, but he mentions on the bottom of the page some banshees have the orange wire on the - side and the black on the + side of the coil and that you should switch them. Just wondering if this is true cause mine is orange on - and black on +. thanks Mike

Bigger main jets! I know you think your rich enough, probably are down low, but bet your lean up top! -
That stupid bike has been bouncing around on there now for a couple months anyways! I see in the last ad he finally bought a stator for it anyways, lol

chariot timing plate/stator wires
VWMIKE replied to official_style's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Hmm thats odd, I just installed one yesterday on my 2001. The wires pass through the cut out, and behind the plate, mine was drilled and tapped for the stock hold down clamps. My wires where all long enough. I can take some pics for you if your still stumped. -
Quick question. Just got a new EBC clutch kit, the extreme one, that comes with an extra plate over stock. I wish I had of heard about the Fast one before I ordered this one from rocky mountain, but oh well I'm sure this will work. Just wondering if I should use the rubber spacers that go between the metal plates or get rid of them? I'm thinking not to use them cause I'll be one short anyways. thanks Mike

How Many Canadian Banshee owners
VWMIKE replied to Canadarider's topic in General Banshee Discussion
I'm out in BC, more specifically on Vancouver Island. Only have my shee for a month now. Was actually looking to buy a 450, but came across my shee for cheap so picked it up instead, and now totally addicted to power band Don't ride around here much, as I don't know anyone else with a atv right now! I ride the Oregon dunes most of the time, go down with a bunch of buddy's out of Seattle, go down 8-10 times a year. Mike -
Do you guys use a washer between the lug nut and wheel like stock or just the lug nut?
-
Has your bike thrown the chain lately? If so take a close look underneath the sprocket and see if it's leaking from a crack in the case, I thought my seal was leaking until a found a small crack.
-
As well don't forget while the main jet may only affect say 3/4-full, the needle position and taper control the 1/4-3/4 throttle positions. Anyone who has messed with jetting can tell you if you go richer on the mains without touching the needles, you've also richened the mid range. The needles effectively regulate how much the bigger main jet flows, so if the jet flows more, the needle is letting in more fuel than with a smaller jet. Hope that makes sense.

Why type F Atf? Whats different from regular atf? Isn't type f the ford specficic one? Can't remember its been so lone since i bought any. Mike

Case broken from chain coming off, how to repair?
VWMIKE replied to VWMIKE's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Ya the rear carrier/axle where crazy trashed when I got it, I will have to post a pic of what the spacer between the bearings looked like, but everything including the axle, bearings, carrier, sproker, and brake hubs was screwed! It's going back together with a new g-force axle, bearings, used carrier, etc this week. -
Hey Guys, Ok well looks like the new shee I picked up is more fucked up than originally thought. I drained the oil out of the tranny because I was going to pull the clutch cover off and check out what was up with my kick start. That was no big deal, but I did notice it didn't have near as much oil as it should of. Before I got it, very obvious the chain came off and got bunched up at the front sprocket, it broke the top of the case, and they replaced the plastic stator cover, must a broke that too. I didn't notice till today that the case is cracked under where the shift shaft enters the case, not around the boss itself but on the flat area under neath. Is this really common? I'm thinking this is why case savers where invented for these!! I figure I'll clean the shit out of it, rough it up with some 120 grit and jb weld it. Should hold till it's time for a rebuild, and will just replace the cases. Just wondering what other people do! Thanks Mike
-
Yeah I figured as much, I guess the local dealer here stocks them quite often so that's what the guy bought since they where hanging on the wall I'm sure I'll end up switching them eventually but they do seem pretty decent for now. Mike

Anyone else find it ironic as hell he lives near the oil capital of the world, but can't find a decent oil to run in his tranny anywhere? lol

looking for a carb rebuild kit in edmonton alberta

If you do mail order, make sure NOT to send it UPS! They are the biggest rip off going as far as courier company's go when they cross the border, there fees are the highest. Get whoever you buy it from to send it USPS Priority international gets here as fast as ups, and the post office only charges 8 bucks to handle it. Mike -
Just putting back together the shee after taking it apart and cleaning things up, and to see what the previous owner had done to it. I know there is a gasket between the reed cage and cyl. But what about the intake manifold to reed cage? Mine had no gaskets just sealant, is this normal? The online microfiche only shows 1 gasket per side as well? Just wondering what everyone uses. thanks Mike

I used to use one on my Honda Pilot I had, but found it annoying to watch the gauge all the time, as well I found it kind of took some of the fun away cause I was always paranoid about temp. I just got my banshee and will def not be getting a digitron! There's no magic temperature since it's solely Dependant on probe placement. They are good products but once you get comfortable with plug chops, set it up a tad rich and just ride the bitch! Mike

Hey guys, Picked up a brand new G force axle after reading favorable reviews of it here. I just ripped it out of the box, and it looks like a nice piece. I see it comes with a single pinch nut for tightening the axle bearings. Just wondering what everyone tightens the nut to before they clamp the nut with the little allan bolt? Of course the instructions leave this part out! thanks Mike

Hey Guys. Just got my banshee a couple weeks ago after the last trip to the dunes with my friends who all have banshees or 450's. I bought a new set of 22 11 10 sand starts for my buggy I brought with me, but it kinda sucked in the sand so I never really rode it much, as there was always a empty quad to hop on. Just wondering if anyone has ever run this size on the back of a shee? I know most of my friends are running 20 11 10's. I'm already down 1 tooth to a 13 in the front on my shee with a 41 in the rear. It's got pipes, reeds, pods, so its got a little more than stock. Just don't wanna waste my time if everyone thinks it will suck! thanks Mike
-
I just had this happen on mine, some hillbillys overtightend the nuts at one time crushing the spacer between the bearings. Even with my nuts tight the hub still had play and was super worn. Be careful if the splines are loose on the axle, cause if you just replace the hub on the axle it will work its way loose in a matter of time and trash the bearings and hub again. Check out ebay for the best price on G force axles, they've gotten really good feedback here. Mike

Thanks I aprreciate the reccomendations! I'll start with that. Still paranoid, after melting down a 2 stroke years ago cause I was running it way lean, Was just a kid though. Mike

Hey guys, The new shee I just picked up came with plated DG pipes and silencers, stock airbox with K&N filter, lid on. I can hardly find a mention of DG pipes, I see they are still sold, but do they suck that bad, or are Toomeys and Fmfs just that popular? I've been into Honda odysseys 350's for years, and the DG is generally considered the best. Right now the stock carbs have 25 pilot, and 290 mains. I've pulled the stock airbox off, and am going to run K&N pods(stock airbox is very hacked up), I was thinking of going 27.5 pilots, and starting with 320 mains. Will be run mostly at the Oregon dunes at sea level, pretty average temps, 40-70 degrees. Thanks Mike

How can you tell if your carb bowls are switched side to side? What affect will this have on the motor? I just discovered my slides where in backwards(ran like shit) so wouldn't surprise me if previous owner switched the bowls too. Mike
-
Sorry but another dumb question. Was reading in another post about having the carb slides in backwards. The new bike I got runs like it's way to rich at idle and slow speeds, but has stock pilot jets. I looked in my manual but it doesn't show it clearly enough? does the cutaway face the engine, or the carbs? Mike
