turning my drag bike into duner
Ieat4strokes replied to Yamahopper10's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
I have a cascade 6 over arm. Basically same motor. 4 mill drag motor by FAST. I love my +6. We have some nasty tight trails here. And some mean hills and I have yet to not be able to whip mine around. You should enjoy it -
Links?

Ive been running kenda Klaws for a while now. Jut bought some gncc holeshots and I'm gonna try them out tomorrow. I do basically the same type of riding. Trails and the biggest hills I can find lol
-
You have a link to that?
-
Whats the secret to em? I got one and put it on and it feels way uncomfortable. Damn near have to twist my wrist to go WOT.
-
Says they are for a raptor? They fit a banshee as well? If so I'm on em!

I'm guessing that import grey is similar to the stuff I use. It's good shit reguardless. I just honestly believe its better than RTV. I mean not saying you can't build a motor using RTV and have no issues. Just saying its a better choice IMHO. I spend a hour or two at least on prep work and I honestly believe that's what it boils down to.

I've split a many of cases since my ventures on here and advice I've gotten. Practically the local go to banshee guy now. Scary huh. Ultra Grey from your local auto supply store works best for the buck and will not deteriorate from gas n oil. I'd never use RTV for the above mentioned reasons. And I'd never pay 12 bucks for a tube of Ultra Grey renamed lol

Been wanting to try a serval. I have a full drag ported FAST 4 mill stock cyl I'd swap ya. Runs awesome (3.9s in 300ft dirt on race gas) just getting out of racing and more into trail riding. Probably around 16-20 passes on motor

Looking for some polished Douglas or itp rims. In good shape. Have stock crank (no play) and a stock tranny to trade
-
agreed. Have a best friend that works at the airport where I get my gas and he said it varies, between 100-110 and that it is indeed graded by "pump gas standards" Also seen someone say ^^^ up there that it's meant to be burned at high altitudes, how exactly does a fuel know where it's at? And what altitude its being burned? Not trying to be funny. Seriously?
-
Compression is around 180 ish each cylinder It's a pro design head, domes were unmarked. But guy my friend bought it from ran race fuel and said they were custom cut. Squish was good and in spec. Have Not done a leak down. Timing is at +6 currently. Jeff built a drag ported 4 mill for me with custom race gas domes and at 190 ish compression told me to run mine at +7 so that's where we started with this one. Found a cracked reed today (which were stock reeds) put in some vf3 and still sputters right before power band. Also ditched his Rickey stator for a stock one and now at least it'll get into power band. But stutters right before power band hits. Have adjusted needle clip and everything. I'm about exhausted lol

I use a map gas torch. Just wave it over the area back and forth. It'll fix most

The 21cc domes at your elevation should net u around 140 ish. That's what I netted at 100-300ft elevation on my old motor on a fresh build. Which your octane and +4 timing should be fine bro. Need to do a compression check with the 21cc in so we can know better
-
+4 on 110 pump at 180lbs is too much? When Jeff built my fast drag port @ 180/190 ish he recommended +7 on race fuel........
-
agreed...... yea its a dog up top, spits and sputters at powerband point, will just not rev out..... we put motor together and fired it up, started on 2nd kick, idled and reved out clean and crisp.... he ran it down the street one time and came back (on 93 pump) and thats when I questioned the compression etc, so this morning did a compression test and it hit 180/178 ish on each side.... we drained the gas out and went and got some 110 from our local airport still does the same thing..... would the T5's keep it from running on out?...... also timing is at +4 on 110 octane @ 180lbs should I bump it up to around +6-+7 ish......
-
Thats what i thought, 160 ish...... but ive been out of the banshee groove for a couple years, all my friends sold thiers off, now everyones riding again and ive built a few motors and couldnt rememeber the exact number.... Thanks again

Did compression test on new 421 motor and it's pumping 175/180 on each cylinder? Race gas only?

Just got a 421 cub together last night for a buddy of mine. Currently he has 34 PJ's, 160 mains and 55 pilots air screw .5 out at sea level with some T5s. I know the t5's are holding it back but my Fast 4mill drag port with shearers will eat this 421 by 5-8 bikes.....is there anything I should be looking at as far as why it's a dog up top? It just doesn't seem to pull up top. Haven't done a chop yet but have pulled them after WOT run and they look good

Bump

Just built a 421 cub for my friend, he ran across a great deal and got a complete top end crank head etc. Got it together tonight and fired it up 3rd kick, no leaks, nothing.......... now its a complete dog up top and seems to hit a wall around near the powerband. Now it was a trail bike and he has alot of extras.....its got 34 PJ's with 55 pilot and 160 mains at sea level so im thinking jetting should be close...... hes has T5's and im KNOW that the T5's are holding it back but should it be that much? I have a fast 4mill drag ported with shearers and it will smoke it by 10 bikes or better by 5th gear, i had T5's when i first built mine but it still was faster than this...... should we try to swap pipes out and see if thats what it is?
