  1. thats what kevin said but im not really a mechanic ha at all so id have to send him my entire motor, which with labor and him tearing everything apart would be a little out of my budget he said i didnt need to do it, and it was an insurance policy ha to make sure it didnt break, but how necessary is it do you think? it makes your crankshaft alot stronger right? and could i do it myself im just scared to pull this ish apart
  2. i wonder if hjr has like power curves for each port job he could show me or something, and what does piston cutting and port casing do?
  3. sweet and if its not leaking tooo bad shoudl i leave it alone also, and when i get the new top end in they will put a new head gasket in right?
  4. ok so i called hjr and gbot the prices and everything i guess what im trying to decide now, is what port job to get, im thinking dune/play port or the mx hardcore port, any suggestions? i ride trails the track and occasional drag, but not much, but when i do drag i do not wanna lose, what would put out more power, dune/play or mx hardcore? do they have the same power and the power band is different or does one put out alot more power? and the piston cutting and port casing what is that? and does it produce more power? im clueless guys just some opinions if yall dont mind, yall havent steered me wrong yet! also i saw dude below me was talking about his crank seal leaking, i think mine is leaking too, when i do the port job and new top end i should prob change that as well while everything is torn down. also i think i might have some antifreeze leaking into my motor like i think the exhaust smells kinda maple syrupy ha, could it be leaking like into the pistons? thanks again yall

  7. so i could send them my whole motor and they would rebuild the top end for 300 plus shipping? and that includes parts? thats a good deal, so to get it ported as well would prob be about another 250 or 300 also? or cheaper ha please say cheaper
  8. how much am i looking at to get them ported, and could they rebuild my top end there as well, like could i send them my whole motor? that would be an ass of money though, ha ill just stick with the porting how much do you think that would run me

  10. so its new top end time, any ideas on what I should use? should I bore it out? I don't really know where to start, I'm kind of on a budget but I want more power if possible. it will have trinity pipes, k and n filter with lid off, 320 mains 4th clip and 25 pilot but ill rejet if needed thanks for the suggestions
  11. ha ok so it worked for about 30 mins, there wasnt much dirt in the carburetor, but i cleaned the side that was running lean, so i go to run it down the street, and when the powerband kicks in its really really really lean like just flies through the top end. maybe my float is stuck closed so not enough gas can get in? ha im about to just buy new carbs : (. i cleaned the carb completely totally took everything apart, and it cranked up perfect, smoked right on both sides, i rode for 30 mins and it started running lean, maybe i got dirt in my gas tank or something, but the fuel lines flow perfect? its gotta be in the carbs, and they are jetted perfect too is whats making me crazy. ha sorry i keep asking so much guys im just ready to fucking ride thanks again
  12. ok I have spark I put new plugs in and it fired right up but that one side is still running lean? should I clean my carbs now? and check the reed on that side the cylinder seems to be running fine just lean so I'm getting less gas in that one side maybe I got shit in my carb?
  13. you're right if I took the box off and went with the dual filters would I have to rejet? I have a 320 main needle on 4th clip and 25 pilot? and if its kinda wet and muddy sometimes where I ride wouldn't it be better to keep the box on? thanks for all the help I'm gonna try it tomorrow so shoot the starting fluid in the carb that's not getting hot if the wires and plugs aren't the problem? and see how it runs?
  14. cool ok so check the plugs caps and the starting fluid? ill check all that tomorrow when i get off work, someone said maybe a crack in your reed? does that make sense at all, maybe i have sand in my carbs too idk where i ride is sandy and i have a k&n with outerwears but no airbox lid, so maybe sand could have got in there man i would love for money to not be a big deal ha
  15. sweet thanks man ill check all that tomorrow i wanna say that the side that doesnt smoke was cold one time but when it first started it was the hot side like not enough fuel was getting in or something, but the other day i cranked it for like 30 secs and teh side not smoking was cold so maybe i didnt have something hooked up right? ill check through all that tomorrow, and if none of that is the problem, im gonna have to fork out some dollars right? thanks again

  17. ok, so last weekend i got to crank up my quad to ride and for some reason one pipe is smoking and the other is not smoking at all, i havent had a chance to work on it, i was gonna see if someone could maybe give me a list of things to check before i go crazy, ok both carbs are synced, and set perfectly, both air screws are two turns out. it should be working on both sides perfectly, i was just gonna see if someone could give me a list of things to check for and make sure im not making any stupid mistakes before i take it to the shop and they charge me for some bs. someone said check my reeds? or choke plunger? maybe plug wires? im totally cluesless any help would be awesome. thanks guys could it possibly be maybe new top end time, im freaking out
  18. ha dude everytime I post you always help me out ill check that tomorrow its not a huge difference just not exactly the same, like when its heating up I felt it ad one was a little hotter, would the reed be dirty or clogged, or broken or what am I looking for?
  19. ok carbs are synched, throttle cables are even, both air screws are 2 turns out, if everything is even, why would one pipe heat up faster? the pipe that is getting hot faster when I pulled the plug it is that perfect golden color, the other one is black, not fouling but black. any ideas? maybe one airscrew goes in farther? I'm clueless and going crazy, thnks guys
  20. so for the shocks would a +2 +1 setup work or should i go with a +3 or what? give me some good sizes like +3 +1, and what do you think the best size for those shocks would be?
  21. what size a arms will yfz 450 shocks fit, would they fit a +2 +1 setup? or what setups would they fit? thanks
