  1. hey guys, if i were to part out a bottom end for my 86 banshee, (completely fine btw) how many people would be interested in buying parts? and how much would you pay for them? im willing to negotiate for it, or just sell the whole thing. any takers?
  2. it went ok, spent about an hour cleaning and checking stuff out, got the wrist pin bearing out, and got the left piston out, it was melted all the way down the wall. its not even resleeveable, there is a crack in the cylinder itself. its ok, i may just get 2 new cylinders. i got alot of the rust out of the right cylinder with pb blaster and a paper towel, but i cant get the rust towards the top off... any ideas? the crank looks just fine, but i have no idea where the pieces of the piston went, they do not sound like they are in the bottom end. we are going to buy a jug of wd40 and pour it in the bottom end to flush it out. oh, and the connecting rods are able to move sideways just the tiniest bit. is it going to be ok like that? or do i need to slit the cases? oh, and a motivation shot
  3. i think it was a good deal it was a real nice guy i bought it from, and hes really happy with the bike, so i couldnt ask for more!
  4. got her today guys. got it and $180 im definitely not looking back
  5. that all sounds great guys, ill get back to some of you when i get the shee tomorrow, but does anybody have any clue where i can get a left cylinder stock bore? used and cheap and functional i cannot bore, but can hone
  6. so i couldnt use a stock sized piston, and it probably wouldnt be a good idea to run side by side with a stock one, correct?
  7. thanks man, hey does anybody know if 66.25 is stock bore?
  8. im sad as hell about selling my bike, but up to this point ive been anxiously awaiting getting the banshee home. im leaving for it tomorrow. do you guys think its a good choice? will i be happier with the banshee once i get it running? the bike is perfect, runs great. the banshee, its an 87, extremely clean, but needs alot to get running, bascially all i have right now is a bottom end and a right cylinder. do you guys think im doing the right thing? or am i getting ripped off?
  9. HOLY CRAP!!! there is so much to keep track of, its overwhelming! i hope im not buying a pile of crap, but it needs alot!
  10. i will check, but how much for everything? do you have a left cylinder also? thanks
  11. what would you take for the left one?
  12. how much for the pipes?
  13. ok, i need pipes, a full set. i need some really, really cheap ones, i dont care if they are stock or what. i need reeds and a crossover boot. basically i have a bottom end and 2 cylinders. (well, im trying to buy a left cylinder in another thread) i need everything in between, except for a top end, im going to buy that new. please, im on a real tight budget, so if you have any parts that are ugly, but functional, i dont care, i really need them. i also need a chain, preferably o-ring and only slightly used. also need head and cylinder bolts and washers. oh, and if i forgot any parts, please tell me. thanks guys.
  14. how much?
  15. one more thing, do the 87's have disc brakes?
  16. the reason i ask is because ive heard mixed stories about them. some people say they are incredible. some people say their 250f could smack it
  17. thanks guys, it has the entire bottom end, but it needs everything except a right cylinder. not much
  18. thanks, its completely stock, im going to get some pipes as soon as i get some money. i dont have it yet, but im going to pick it up this weekend.
  19. Hello all, I recently decided to get a quad after riding my bro's ltz400 around for a little while. I was going to get a blaster, but then I rode one and decided it just wasnt for me to say the least, lol. So I found a guy who would trade his 87 banshee which needed a top end (the entire top end), for my 94 rm125. First thing I would like to know is if there is anything bad about having an old banshee, with the exception of the j-arms? Even though they are all almost exactly the same. And what kind of power can I expect from this thing in stock trim? Is it going to be a beast compared to the 125, (ive heard they were somewhat slow stock)? Is it going to be as torquey up top as my brother's ltz? Do they like to lug at all? Oh, and are they very reliable? Or do the double cylinders kill easy maintainence? Also, how much work do these things need to be neck-snappers? One last question, how badly will it beat an ltz400 piped?
  20. keep it out of the sun (plastic fade), maybe put a cover on it, maybe put some blocks under it, relieve your supension, clean out your carbs, and drop a little oil in your cylinder, do it again when its time to start.
  21. haha, winter riding is awesome, in fact, i sold my rm and bought a banshee just for winter riding. lol
  22. Hello, Im in need of a left cylinder (stock bore), carbs, head, throttle cable, flywheel cover, and footpegs.
