  1. Pogo stick springy is bad. Sounds like they are pretty plush. If you'd like more rebound (spring up) then depending on the adjustability of the shocks you can adjust them to rebound quicker. but if they feel good when you ride then I wouldn't touch them.
  2. Just so you know, once you've ported your cylinders for stock stroke they will no longer work with a 4mill crank. Also, I hope you know what your doing, because there's more to porting cylinders then just hogging them out with a dremel. Good luck.
  3. Yes, it will. If you talk to Kevin (HJR) and tell him the type of riding you do he will know which porting will suit you best.
  4. Why does that suck? were you hoping you could tell your friends you have a 500cc banshee?
  5. Big bore kits add nothing to performance. You'll basically be paying $800 to tell your buddies you have a 400cc (or whatever size you're lookin at) banshee. A ported bbk will run the same as a ported stock cylinder bike. 4mill + port work is what you're lookin for.
  6. Maybe in drag form. But a stock stroke dune ported bike will not outrun a dune ported 4 mill so long as both bikes are set up the same.
  7. Big bore kits are a waste of money. Hit up Kevin at Herr Jugs Racing. He's got a deal goin right now on 4 mill cranks for $365 trued and welded. Add another $300 or so for porting and you've got one hell of a runner!
  8. I think suspension should be the first thing to get. If money isn't a problem then a longtravel setup will be best. Custom axis are top of the food chain for shocks. Don't run a 2-1 pipe, they're garbage. Advanced timing and a bump in compression will add more bottom end grunt. I'm not sure how big of a motor you'll want but I do know there is a such thing as too much power for mx. As DDQ mentioned, if you can swing it, pick up an lsr 250r geo chassis.
  9. The pro's (yet to see proof of any) of running a boost bottle don't outweigh the con's. I'd rather run a stock cross-over tube then a boost bottle and risk cracking my intake boots and melt a piston because of an air leak. Besides, what a boost bottle is supposed to do and what it actually does are 2 different things. In fact, I know alba racing dyno tested a boost bottle and they saw a loss of a couple hp.
  10. As a matter of fact, it is. Just hadn't bumped this thread up 'cause I didn't think anybody on here was interested.
  11. Custom axis gets my vote. I have read good things about motowoz on 450 forums though. Not sure if they make shocks for banshees. Matt at socal suspensions has done a ton of testing with different shock brands and feels custom axis is the leader in shock performance and quality.
  12. what exactly does a 8/12-9 look like? Good luck with that.....
  13. Hit up Tyler (locogato). He's got a nice one for sale at a good price.
  14. You my friend have zero sense of humor.
  15. See if he'll let you do a compression test on it. If it's got a fresh motor the compression should be good and even in both cylinders. Also, run the VIN just incase to make sure it's not hot. If all checks out then snatch that shit up. Im not all that suprised to see a good deal like this come along. A lot of people are hurtin for money these days, especially with Christmas right around the corner.
  16. Lol, it's winter time and riding season for many of us is over. Don't take anything personal. We're just bored. If you do some fishing in this thread I'm sure you'll see a couple of people have given you an answere to your original question. Trail and 100mph just don't go together.
  17. I saw that bike on c-list earlier today. I think it's a killer deal! Especially for what bikes normally go for around here. J-arms are perfectly fine for normal dune riding but aren't recommended for woods, trail or mx riding. If you use it as a sand only bike it will work great. Plus it'll be around 10lbs lighter then an a-arm frame.
  18. Lol. Middle number stands for the width. For example, a 20x10x10 tire is 20" tall, 10" wide and has an inside diameter of 10" (rim size).
  19. And pollished.... Feel like I'm playing I spy. Lol....I'm gonna go look for another one.. Edit: lightnd, pips and hears
  20. You forgot bumppers.. On the real- mr purp, there's no way you are going to be able to build a fun trail bike that will break 100 mph. drag bike that breaks 100, sure. But, as already mentioned, it's not trap speed that counts in the 1/4 or any race for that matter, it's your ET.
  21. Word!? That's what's up! I haven't been able to break the 90mph mark in the trails yet...
  22. It shouldn't need rebuilt unless something's broken and/or leaking. Yes, there is. If you remove the bottom of the carb (bowl) you will see the main jet (bigger of the two) and the pilot jet (in the bottom of what looks like a tube next to the main). On the side of both jets will be a number.
  23. Sounds like a jetting issue. If it feels like it's cutting out or hesitating you're lean, if it just feels sluggish and it's taking a second to start revving then your rich. Depending on which symptoms you're having you'll need either a bigger or smaller pilot jet. Not sure if a single 39 is too much or not. Depends on what you've got done to your bike. I have noticed that the popular size for a 2-1 carb setup seems to be a 35mm carb.
