  1. No. A coolhead would only be a wise investment if you were trying to extract every last horsepower. 250 vs $50. that 200 could have been spent on something that will give you more than 1 horsepower, which is what the cool head will give you over the stock shaved head. And I am not bragging about anything. I am trying to offer some advice to a few people who may be having health issues that may be mitigated my cleansing out their system. I am actually trying to be constructive and help others.
  2. Apparently none of you guys want to face the facts. On the banshee with every bolt on imaginable, the cool head contributed approximately 2 to 4 horsepower. A stock shaved head will yield similar results. If you were to shave the stock head, and send your jugs to RB racing for a port job, you would yield 2-3 times the horsepower gains as buying a cool head. This is a FACT. Another FACT is that you can cut the head for race fuel, then run a thicker gasket to compensate for when you want to run pump gas. Sure, squish won't be ideal for those trying to get every last hp, but the fact of the matter is you won't even notice the difference. In pursuit of every last horsepower, yeah get a cool head. It would be a decent investment if you have already spent money on suspension, pipes, drag porting, tires, swingarm, carbs ect. But for 80-90% of us, it is just not a good investment, UNLESS you are after bling, or like to brag about what your bike has.
  3. Nothing blew up in my face lol. I am just out to prove my point. And I believe I did. Whether you like me or not.
  4. And this is how the administrator of a popular website is supposed to act? Way to set an example.
  5. You will still be ahead money and hp wise by NOT buying a cool head. The money spent on it could be used for a better set of pipes, carbs, tires, suspension ect. http://bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=130851 Look at this dyno graph. Look at the green line. This shows about 10-12hp difference from piped and filtered to piped filtered +4 timing cool head vitos pistons and vf3 reeds. I know at least 8 hp are from the timing reeds and pistons. So that's how much of a gain from the cool head? Yeah, the squish angles might be better than stock, but it is the compression that adds most of the hp. You won't even notice a performance difference between a cool head and stock shaved head as far as seat of the pants.
  6. Please read this AK. For the MAJORITY of banshee owners, the cool head is a wast of money if buying new. For $320 is dollars, you will make more power out of a shaved head and porting than out of a cool head. Actually double the horsepower. In a perfect world, you will have a coolhead, porting timing plate, cheetah cyl, decked out and still be able to support your family. In real life, there are compromises. People need to save a buck here and there, and I believe in the pursuit of horsepower this is one of the corners that can be cut.
  7. So you are telling me that you would get more power out of a cool head than out of a stock milled head plus porting? 250 shipped you can have a dam good port job. 50 dollars you can have your head milled.15 bucks for a thicker head gasket. Port work here http://www.rbracingmotors.com/Porting/Porting.htm
  8. Well the poll is firm evidence at the brain wash-ability of the internet. Some of you may argue that the cool head is more convenient as far as changing setups. Which does hold some truth. You just un-bolt the head, change domes, and hook it back up. Simple. -But let's look at that a little closer. A cool head is what, 250 bucks w/ shipping. An extra set of domes, at least 60 right? So that's over 300 bucks for the ability to switch from race fuel to pump. Should sound reasonable to most people. Now here's my Alternative method. You could shave the stock head .035" (squish permitting) and you will have a race fuel setup that should be within a couple hp of the cool head and will cost you no more than 50 bucks. Want to switch back to pump gas? Just order a .010" thicker head gasket. So now you are at 1/4 the price of the cool head setup, and within a couple hp. Or, better yet, you can send your head off to Mull engineering, and have them re-cut the domes and set up your head for race fuel. This will put you at the same performance level as the cool head, and I believe the cost is under 100 bucks. Now I'm not exactly sure what Brandon at Mull would recommend, but i believe the head gasket swap would work for this setup as well. Just ask Brandon ow much thicker you should go to drop the comp enough for pump gas. Still, you're at less than half the price of a cool head set up for two fuels. Now, some of you may argue that you will only be limited to two setups, and you are right, but let's be honest, the average guy iout there will not ever need more than this. Seriously. And about the extra cooling, I have heard several people say that they did NOT notice a difference in temps going from stock to cool head. This thread is the first place I have heard someone with a quantified reduction in coolant temperature from the use of a cool head. Soooo, I guess if you can get a used cool head and extra set of domes for $150 or so, it would be a good buy, but you would ruin the sleeper look; however if "bling" is what you're into, maybe this isn't a bad thing. I'd rather look slo tho.
  9. How about this. Shave the stock head AND rechamber for race fuel. 80 bucks. Now buy 2 base gaskets, a little thicker than stock. Now you have race fuel, 50/50 and pump gas "domes" for 100 bucks.
  10. My arguement is that cool heads are not worth the money for the average guy who is gonna pipe and port their bike. Can we please discuss this? Not trying to be a douche this just needs to be cleared up.
  11. Dont waste your money on the coolhead. Don't waste your money on the timing plate. That's 300 ish bucks and you will gain maybe 8-10 horsepower if you stick to pump gas. You can shave your stock head. 35 bucks You can elongate the holes in the timing plate yourself for free. You can send your jugs to get ported by RB racing for around 200 bucks. That's 300ish bucks and your gain will be about 20hp. But go ahead and follow the lemmings if you want to
  12. Yeah I'm sure it's NOT because they sell them for a huge profit.
  13. Sooooooo Cool head 250 shaved head 35 New domes for the cool head what 75 bucks Used stock head off ebay 40 plus to get it shaved to new specs 35 hmmmmmmmmmmmm You buy that for cosmetics IMO.
  14. http://denver.craigslist.org/rvs/1871539325.html
  15. It is the one in the videos section. I have worked out the issues with the chain but it still needs a brake line and an air filter. $300 bucks.
  16. It is this one. If you can wait until next friday it will only be 4500 https://accounts.craigslist.org/post/shwpst?pii=1871539325&db=lv
  17. "appears" for the third time I'm pretty sure I was following suit...
  18. I LOVED it. There are't really any areas where you can open it up 80 plus mph, but there are a lot of VERY steep hillclimbs. One is called "banshee hill". It is a hill that literally rises out of the resorvoir and is very steep; there is no "runway". I will go back one day.
  19. I bet your rings would last a lot longer on the vitos cylinder than a 65hp stock cylinder I would also like to know what the port timings are.
  20. Or you can save 200 bucks and shave the stock head. Shave it .020" for premium unleaded.
  21. That's what I've been saying all along. The dude trains in Denver, so off top he has an advantage when it comes to stamina. He gassed himself because he didn't have the patience to pull back and let lesnar get up. One more good shot on the feet would've been enough after the initial onslaught IMO. They need to hury up with the rematch dangitttt!!!!!!!!!!
  22. compression? fuel? If you're running meth and high compression you can run alot more paddle than pump gas
  23. This arguement is silly. Show me one fight where a 280lb man exerted himself like carwin did, and didn't gas... One fight Ever In the history of fighting Just one And I'll never doubt you again I challenge anyone to this. Take off in a full sprint down the street. As fast as you can. And see how long it takes you to gas. Then picture your lungs feeding 280lbs. You will gas. In under 2 minutes. You will be in no shape to fight.
