  1. Chevrolet's radios are a computer. My step-dad is a tech at a chevy dealership, and I am also ASE certified in auto mechanics. To install an aftermarket radio, you are looking at a nightmare. Twistedtrik is right on point. It's gonna cost you out the ass to get it right. Everything that is programmable on a Chevrolet, is done through the radio. Examples: reseting dummy lights in the dash, seatbelt alarms, low tire pressure sensors, daytime running lights. The list goes on. Look in your manual, under programmable options. You'll see. It sucks. Whoever came up with this design, is an ass monkey.
  2. I know the 2 wires going to the thumb throttle have to be tied together. If not, the bike won't even think about running.
  3. Yea, I would definiteyl try a different guage and a leak test. I have 19cc domes at sea level, and I'm getting 185psi on both sides. If you take it back apart, have the cylinders and pistons mic'd, just to make sure they are the correct size for each other. You ARE testing it correctly, right? Holding the throttle wide open, kicking it an ass load of times.......I also read on here somewhere, to make sure that the compression tester is the same depth as your spark plugs. If it takes up more cc's than your plugs, it will read higher, and vice versa.
  4. This might sound stupid, but it's not. Was it sitting in a shed where there's no heat? Or, outside? Was the gas tank full? When the temp drops at night, the gas and tank are at the "daytime" temp. That makes the tank condensate, causing water to build up in the tank. Always keep a full tank, if it is going to be sitting in an uncontrolled environment. Also, this new ethenol crap doesn't do to well when it sits. When it sits for a couple of months, it starts to go back to it's original state, CORN. It doesn't actually turn into corn, but it will gunk shit up. This just happened to my jet ski. I flushed the tank and lines, filled it with new fuel, and it ran like new. Take your fuel line off, and drain some in a clear container. Let it sit for about 30 minutes. If you can see water sitting on the bottom, drain the tank. Take it off, and make sure it is dry. Even if it doesn't have water in it, I would probably change it anyways.

  6. After reading the stuff that people wrote on my thread, I figured it wasn't for me. I bought a Moose billet aluminum thumb throttle. UPS says it will be here tomorrow, so I can't say how I like it yet. Here's the link to the one that I got. http://www.denniskirk.com/jsp/product_cata...tId=&mmyId=
  7. Here's a link for you. I had the same question. http://www.bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=91921
  8. They came today. I got them on polished 9x9 ITP rims, intead of the 8" wide rims. Couldn't try them out until I got my steering stem back together. But, the bike's back in business. And, MAN! These tires bite loose dirt, great. Much better than the Holeshots that I had. And, there radials, so I'm guessing that they'll last a little longer.
  9. I have no idea how you guys get shit in Canada. I would maybe keep my eyes open on Ebay, if I were you. I'm sure some of the guys that live up there will chime in.
  10. It doesn't matter if you're going to be jumping, or not. Simply hitting a few bumps can max out the balljoints. If you're going to do it, do it right. Get the whole YFZ front end, or an upgraded Banshee front end. Don't half-ass it, man. Use the links that I posted up earlier. They show you how to install the YFZ shocks, and the YFZ a-arms. I'm with ya on trying to save some money. But, suspension and brake parts are not the places to do it. You're gonna find yourself planted up against a tree somewhere. I'd hate to see another person in the hospital, or even worse, the morgue, just because he wanted to save some money and cut some corners.
  11. I'm sure it is something stupid. Since it was in storage for a year, maybe a rat ate through a ground wire, or something. Go over all of the wires with a fine tooth comb. From what I've been reading on other topics, a bad ground to the CDI will cause weak spark.
  12. Here's the link for installation of the shocks. This is pinned at the top of the suspension forum. http://www.bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=47969 As for the a-arms, here's the link to 2003LimitedBanshee's topic. He's selling the a-arm kits. http://www.bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?...amp;hl=450+arms
  13. I just ordered some 20x11x9 Maxxis iRazr's. Those are 6-ply radial's. We'll see how they work out, and I'll post it. I meant to order the Knarly HT's, but oh well. Hopefully they do good in loose dirt. UPS says they will be here on the 29th. I'll let you know.
  14. The stock Yamaha pipes? I'm sure you can, since they are steel. But how are you going to protect them from rusting? Chrome plating? Intead of wasting time and money, why don't you just buy aftermarket? You'll probably have more money tied up into polishing those, than you would buying some. And, on the plus side, they would be more for performance, sound better, and when it's all said and done, probably look better.
  15. I asked something to this effect last week. Chariot Performance replied that I can fix it with their billet thumb throttle. I haven't bought one, but I'm starting to think more and more about it. It's a little pricy, but if it takes alot of the thumb fatigue away, it might be worth it. I think they only sell on EBay. Here's their link. http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?f...&category0=
  16. Trust me, I don't take it personal. Where I work, that's the least of my worries. It's rough there. One of my co-workers got blasted in the face with a 12guage last week, and lived. So, the fuck the police crap doesn't bother me. Hell, I still say it myself.
  17. Easy guys! That kinda hits home. I hated the cops, all through growing up. They were always running us off the only places that we could ride. Always getting on us for loud trucks and other toys. Basically, just redneckin' it. So, one day it popped in my head (I'm taking a big chance on here with this). If ya can't beat 'em, join 'em. That's right guys, I'm a fucking pig. Almost all of my neighbors have some kind of loud, off road toy. I have two other neighbors that are cops. None of them care, and one of them rides his YZ450F with us. You guys just live around a bunch of arrogant, asshole cops. We're a different breed around these parts. There's way more important things to worry about, than someone riding a fucking fourwheeler or a dirtbike.
  18. Same here. I get about 1.5 hours on a tank, if I'm lucky. No leaks, neither.
  19. I tried to post this last night. Someone else posted this link a couple weeks ago. I kept the link, so I can buy some, since I have tidal saltwater running through my backyard. http://www.nyalic.com/
  20. I was just reading up on this a few days ago. The US has passed a federal law prohibiting 2-Strokes to be sent here, by manufacturers. The law goes into effect in 2011. I don't know why Yamaha decided to stop them early.
  21. Someone else posted this link a couple of weeks ago. I saved it, so I can buy it, since I live on a saltwater river. I'm glad you mentioned it, cause I forgot to buy it. http://www.nyalic.com/
  22. I wouldn't cut any of the gussets, unless you plan on replacing them with something beefier. Basically, anything that shapes a triangle. They are for rigidity. I don't see any harm in cutting and grinding those tabs, if you don't need them to mount stuff. Personally, I would leave the stuff with question marks. Just what ever you do, if you cut them gussets off, make sure you put a new one there. I used to work with steel. It's a very good idea to have gussets in every corner. Triangles are much stronger that squares.
  23. Thanks, Savage. I was wondering about that. I'm looking an EBay for some 450 shocks, right now. I'm guessing that I will have to revalve them, for the weight of the bike and me on it. I'm about 190lbs., and I pretty much sit on the fuel tank. I might just get by without even touching them, huh?
  24. Not trying to hijack your thread, but I'm getting ready to make the 450 a-arm switch. I'm just curious, if I do that, and use the 450 shocks, will the ride height be the same? I love how it sits. Currently, I have the stock shocks and a-arms. I'm kind of on a buget, so I can't afford those nice ass Elka's.
