  3. Cases were fine at least visually. Didn't have them magnafluxed for cracks or anything, which I might do on this next set, although that's probably not very typical, I'd like to be safe. Dumping the clutch in first mostly when this happened. Did launch it in third once accidentally, but it was with pro wedges in a field, so not like it was dead hooking or anything. Not thinking about selling right now, gonna put it back together and see what she can do.
  4. For the record bigred did offer me a good price on those cases before he listed them. I just havent decided what direction to go so if he sells them first no big deal. And chase you have a nice bike that is put together right now. Its a banshee so its gonna take maintenance and tinkering, just the nature of the beast. But I'll help you keep it going and learn them. What little I know anyway.
  5. Does anyone know how much side to side play the gears are supposed to have on the trans shaft? Several of the gears are quite wobbly. Trying to decide whether to replace the damaged gears or get a whole new (used) one.
  6. Not really looking for a trade at this time guys. Motor grenaded 2nd gear and broke the cases so it's currently apart.
  7. LOL Billet cases, I wish. I'm just gonna smear some jb weld on there and slap it back together! lmao No, really it needs new cases, new trans, seals, base gasket. The crank and bearings looked fine. I will probably replace the output side with a TZ bearing though. The metal from the trans was circulating in the fluid obviously and into the clutch cover. Some chunks destroyed the crank seal as you see in the pic and it was sucking trans fluid laced with metal shavings right through that bearing. Couldn't have been good for it. The particles are small I suppose and there was no apparent damage, but I want to do a TZ bearing anyway for reliability purposes. The twister will be getting the straight cuts that are currently in my duner as well. Simply because it should be the higher hp/tq engine of the two. As stated earlier, if anyone has cases or a trans cheap I'm in need of them. Greg

  11. Running shee reeds right now. Would like to try the CR's once I get it close to dialed in and see what the difference would be. It definitely breathes deep enough that I can see where it would benefit from the larger reeds.
  12. Daj, dont worry I wouldnt take parts from you if they were free and you paid the shipping. As for the rest of your comments, everyone here can see who the real clown is. I'm trying to post info on this engine good bad or indifferent and everything stated here is simply my opinion and observation. For the record we did not put this engine together. We did the casework and then I traded it off and someone else put it together. Dont know if it was put together inocrrectly or something in the trans was simply ready to break. Rest assured, it will be done right this time though. As for the wheelie comment JD, come on man, get real. Youre trying to twist what I'm saying to jump on the bashing bandwagon of you small minded, big ego'd friends. The FAST engine was obviously blowing the tires loose. Let me clarify. First of all were dealing with a +10 swingarm so it doesnt like to wheelie at all. Second, I never meant to indicate it didnt have enough POWER to wheelie in 3rd. But with the drag port obviously it was on or off and after 1st if it didnt wheelie, it wasnt going to, just go down the track. The twister had the TORQUE to lift the front wheels just nailing it in 3rd. J-madd. Youre totally right. It should smoke the 380cc duner. I was simply using it as a performance measure because its what I'm familiar with and I'll be "happy" when it exceeds the performance of the stock cyl bike, and wont need to push it any further. Thats all. Guys I'm not going to participate in the shit talk I started this thread just to get a little more info out there on the mini's because you dont see much posted on them. If you want to try and ruin it because you need to grow up and have nothing better to do then I guess thats BHQ's and anyone who might find the info interesting's loss.   13. UPDATE: CARNAGE CARNAGE CARNAGE DEAD PEOPLE EVERYWHERE. Well, not really, but we do have some carnage. Evidently this little bastard does make some real power because it GRENADED a stock transmission. Actually I doubt it was due to power output but something in the trans let go and CRACKED the engine cases, bad. Hours and hours of case mods, boring, and porting down the drain. Need a new set of cases, plus whatever in the transmission self distructed, and whatever else it took with it. Good news is it ran like a freaking animal the half hour or so I got to beat on it. I have never felt torque like that in a 4mil. I was crusing on the dirt road in 6th and you roll into the throttle and at only about 1/4 it comes up on the pipe and the tires MELT. It would wheelie in 3rd gear at will whereas the old FAST drag ported engine the same chassis (100hp mind you) would only MAYBE wheelie in 1st in sand if you got the weight transfer just right. It has so much tq and loooves to be short shifted, wouldn't over rev at all but it was uber rich. It would rip through the gears literally as fast as you could grab them and just keep pulling. It certainly has A LOT of potential (way more than I was expecting) when we get it BACK together and get it dialed in. I have had and ridden a lot of very good running stock cylinder bikes and this thing is certainly like stepping into a new realm for me. Certainly excited to do more tuning and set up with it, just will be a few weeks at best to get it back together. If anyone has a set of cases cheap, I'm looking. Might need a trans too :-/ Stay tuned
  14. The differences are "basically" cylinders and carbs. The HJR ported duner is a ported stock cyl 64.5 bore, 4mil. (379cc) 35.5 K&T Mikunis (Methanol) Shearer small bore in frames Ported stock reed cages, boysen dual stage reeds +4 swinger No lockup Twister is 71mm bore 4mil as stated above (460cc) 38 PWK Air Strykers V Forces 2's +10 swinger Shearer small bore inframes DD lockup Everything else is pretty similar on them. Both in stock, full weight chassis', etc. Wont be much of a race til I can get them both in the sand with the right tire and gearing for each but after riding this twister today COMPLETELY untuned (tons of fuel and only +4 timing) I'm confident it will take the duner. and as I said that is no easy task, Kevin did an exceptional job on my cylinders and the duner HAULS ASS. Also will be a while before we actually get to do the race, as the next post will tell.

  16. Thought I'd start a thread to keep up with the progress of the mini twister for those who might be interested. I never see anything posted on them so I figure a little info on them would be good for those who might be searching in the future. As of tonight IT LIVES. We have 185psi both cylinders (given the compression tester is right). Firehead suggested bigger carbs than the 34 mikunis I was gonna run on it so tonight we bolted on a set of 38 PWK Air Strykers. Theyre setup for methanol. We have .115 pilot EGQ needles 50 pilots (I think) PJ's 3 turns out to start tuning. Timing is at +4 Gotta pick up some methanol tomorrow and possibly throw in a fresh clutch and we're gonna take it out and see what she'll do. I'll keep everyone updated and try to get some vids. Its first task is to outrun my HJR duner, and thats not a very easy task. Setup right now is 4mil x 71mm bore smallblock twister stock cnc porting 22cc domes (I think) Shearer small bore in frames 38PWK Air Strykers on methanol V force 2 reeds DD Lockup, Billet Basket Stock trans Chariot Timing Plate Need to call KT and order some billet bowls for the new carbs before we get too crazy.

  20. I have the topend out of my HJR duner for sell. Need to go to the next size piston. These are 64.50 mm 795 series pistons with rings, wrist pins, bearings and circlips. Pistons are in great shape with low hrs. 150 obo
  21. The ports on my HJR engine are actually set up for T-5's and gas ROFL! I put it on Shearers and meth almost immediately after getting it. I did swap the domes though, and let me tell this things RRIIIPPPSSS. Faster than my old FAST drag port by far. Sending it back this winter to get it freshened up and a little more top-secret porting done he he he. It's still got a lot to get out of it while still being a dune port. Looks like I'll be sticking with Shearers for the twister and try to round up some bigger carbs for it.
