Compression at 80 need help on rebuild
meanv10 replied to meanv10's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
No im in grand rapids, but thats what i thought i have 2 theories bc it ran fine before we brought it to him, it started hard if it sat for more than a week but if you ran it every couple days it would stat within the first 3 kicks. 1) dude effed it up and now wants me to pay to fix it 2) It was a small maricel that it ran on a compression of 80 lol I dont know the guy and but i cant say that an 88 banshee wouldnt need a rebuild at some point. Ill have to get it back and tear down the top end and see what i find, should i pull the motor for this project? -
So i sold my lil bro my banshee and he brought it to a guy to get the floats ajusted. He said that he checked the compression and it was 80 on both sides. So my question is should i try to do this bc he said he would charge 700 for it. And if i do this what all should be replaced?

Is there any advantage to running premium gas over 87 octane with a stock banshee? Somebody told me that "There are guys out there that run their little 2-stroke motors on coleman fuel with an octane of around 50 or they will mix it with 87 to make 70 octane." wouldnt that cause a ridiculously hot combustion

THing is my BJ's may be 20+ years old, but there is no play. I think the thing was barly ridden
-
Thanks for the advise, I went on there web site and couldnt find them, but if there over say 250 its Def. out of the question.
-
I spent 1k on my 87 banshee, put some FMF fatties on it, with a KN changed the jetting all for under 1500, all the parts were used. and I can easly pass my buddy on his 400ex on the trails, all you have to do is stay on it and you wont have any problems on the trails. The suspension does suck though. actually thinking about doing the 450 shocks, but dont know if that is a good Idea with J arms.

I have had 3 seat belt tickets at 60 bucks, Its my choice if i wear a seat belt or not and im not harming anyone else but myslef and when they first passed the law they said that they would not set up enforcement zones at intersections and do "stings" by having cops "hide" behind telephone polls and radio ahead, and that's how I got 2 of the 3.
-
That's why it blew up. lol

Ya, I was the Dbag on the red/wight banshee with a cut off red ford shirt, I had a Buddie riding a 400ex that was yellow and another on a 450 KFX that was green, other than that the rest of my buddies were driving trucks. But I put my stock tires back on and took it for a ride after work and it shifted fine, So I'm thinking that when i go riding next weekend Ill see if it happens again. So ridding with paddles tires at WOT can cause these things to shift hard? This may be a dumb question but do you guys use your clutch after 1'st when at the dunes to prevent this? Also I want to switch my case oil from full synthetic Honda stuff, to the 10w30 motor oil like it says in clymers? could this hurt it in any way? I want to do the same thing with the mix oil going form KLOTZ 32:1 synthetic to a universal mix that's a Dyno base. could this hurt anything?
-
I called around today and had a guy tell me that i bent a shift fork. He said that there were 3 in the motor and that they cost 40 a piece and it takes about 8 hours in labor to fix it. does this sound right and would I need any special tools to do this?
-
Nobody has any idea?
-
Whet up to silver and just got back. When we went trail riding a few weeks back I would shift up and down through the gears with no problem smooth as butter. But when we went up this weekend it was really hard shifting up or down and took a lot of effort. The case oil OK but looked like it might be breaking down a little. Any Ideas? Also I fouled a set of plugs out and I could tell that after the second set at the end of the day were starting to get fouled, like lack of power ect. I have KN no lid FMF Fatties and 280 mains any advise? Other than that it was a fricken blast!

Ya you guys, Bush is the reason for high gas prices. ( and Katrina, and AIDS and everything else that happens shitty in life) Utter ignorance Look at china and india now that they are in the industrial revolution stage of there country there energy need shave gone through the roof, both countries have over a billion and they all want to drive. Diesel went up before gas because that's what China needed most to run there heavy equipment, add to that the fact that the EPA now requires USLD diesel that has under 15 ppm sulfur in every gallon, along with stricter regulations on different blends of gas going to different regions of the country. Ya thats gona help cut more of the supply out of the simmple suply and demand equation that makes up the sails of petro. The most recent reason that gas has gone through the roof is because Russia tried to enact a wind fall profits tax on domestic oil, Forecasters were predicting that Russia would keep increase petro out put for the next 30 years, this year there oil output dropped by 1% not a lot but when your thinking Millions of barrels a day it is. Everyone wants to save the environment but no one wants to pay the price. Wana save fricken caribou and sand turtles, then dont allow drilling in ANWR or Colorado or the gulf of Mexico. and be prepared to pay 4$ a gallon. Durang the 90's take for example Michigan, we had 5 refineries, we now have none. they were all shut down by the EPA and fined out of existence. Bottom line i there needs to be more refineries built, but when over a 1/4 of the initial cost of building a refiner goes to taxes no ones going to. same thing goes for nuclear. And the price of everything is going up last year at this time i was selling Plate and Structural steel for 220 a ton its now selling for 350. things arnt going to get cheaper and if you want to keep blaming bush go for it, it wont solve anything.
-
Normally its the other way around, you pay a little extra for every gallon of gas because there basically loaning it to you until you pay them at the end of the month.

So the Cobra 250-500 FMF spark arrestors, will they fit my power core 2's
-
1) pulled the plugs after putting 90 miles of trail ridding, they seem to have carbon build up on them that you can pick off with a finger nail, should i go down in jeting? I have KN no lid FMF fatties 280 mains 2) when rolling my banshee around in gear with the clutch all the way in i can hear the motor try to turn over every once and a while, should i readjust it? Other than that it was a lot of fun, up around Baldwin MI riding ORV trails
-
The FMF's spark arrested? if so pm me price. thanks -Nick

Dont think there would be more than a couple ohms, i will measure though, and its a tether kill switch, so it should be normally closed. thanks for the advise
-
I would but the stock kill switch dosnt work.
-
Could i wire my kill switch through the orange wire going to the Coil pack? Also on a side note went to fire it up and it hasn't been ran in a few months, and fuel was shut off. After a min or 2 i started feathering the throttle and the right side would backfire coming out of rpms, and it semmed to be idealing real low. rod it around for a while and now it seems fine, Should i lave it alone or look for some problems?

what do you think of these rims on a white 08 silverado
meanv10 replied to zach45's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Those rockstars are my favorite rim for trucks, there fricken sweet, if only i had enough to buy a set, they will look great on your truck, -
Still think it would be fricken hilarious if it really could beat banshee's, someone roles up with it and tells you its a 416 off ebay and then smokes you, wouldn't that be a kick in the nuts! lol I'm just sayin i think it would be funny, but think it would be a cold day in SHell if he beat a stock banshee.
-
Ya it got a little off topic, dont get me started on Chevy's, lol You didn't think it was a tad windy/ cold, did you? It was warm in my truck, lol The drag strip was smooth as glass, a little water logged, only a few ATV's were drag racing, nothing to impressive there that i saw.
