Your going to hope for an answer that doesn't require you to split the cases.....But if the noise is "IN" the motor...That's where you need to look. You can only see so much thru the intake and exhaust openings.....Or you could try sawdust in the oil, run a nice rearend fluid in the trans and ride with an Ipod turned up. I'm sure the sound will go away if you rev it up and beat on it for a while. Start with draining the oil and checking for metal shavings.....

First polish to mirror finish. Then clear ceramic coat. Never touch it again. No if won't hold heat in....that's why the waters IN the motor. Seals all the pores in the castings too.

Your going to be getting a whole mess of stuff from me soon! Cylinders, head, cases,JJ+A play axle, powervalves, carbs, wheels, etc. I might just drive it all up to ya'. Gonna' have to twist your arm for the "Big Batch" discount. Your work is MINT! Judging from the perfect stator cover in your signature...I'd say, I might have you make me a mirror for my bathroom out of sheet aluminum. LOL.

Asked for close-up pics of it already. Cleaned up and off the bike (So your pipes aren't covering the stuff that I have a question with) -

Looks like it was modded. The standard Graydon doesn't need an intake bolted to it. It just has a rubber hose with a clamp to the 2 into 1 and a clamp on the carb. I can't see what you have going on there with the pipes in the way. But judging from the extra long bolts and nuts, I'd say it looks a little rigged. Id like to see some better pics if you could.... -

I'm looking for one....but that one looks odd. What's bolted/clamped to it in front of the carb? Got any pics with it off the bike and cleaned up? -

I'm looking for a "Graydon" 2into1 intake system for a banshee. I don't want the Trinity set-up. Let me know if any of you have one you want to sell. Thanks.

If the add says "100 MPH banshee" or "100 HP banshee" or "Crazy fast banshee... beats everything...not for beginers" or if they tell you how much HP it COULD make if you just ran alky..........just stay away and move on to the next add. LOL. Seriously though...I start by asking what jet size they are running. If they don't have that info on the tip of their tongue, then they may not have jetted this motor correctly nor even know how. (You don't even have to know what your talking about, you'll figure out from the tone of his answer if HE does.) Compression checks are a MUST. (Know what pressure you WANT to see before you go. Don't listen to the sellers input.) LOL. I advise you also inspect the frame at the back where the rear grab bar bolts on. That section of frame should run straight from under the seat. (pull off the plastic in the rear if you have to) Many banshee's are bent up in the back real bad from hard wheelies. You can get alot in a starter quad for $1,800 if you wait for a deal. Or you can buy a nicer machine and get some real high end parts in the $3,500 range. Otherwise, if price is not that big of a deal.....just watch for sale postings where half the members post with comments like "Sweet ride, wish I had the cash to grab that deal" or "I've sceen this quad in person and it rips". Best answer is "I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS BIKE HASN'T SOLD YET!?!" Don't believe the old line.."this state doesn't issue titles for quads" If you could ever borrow money to buy it...then it would have had a title. If you don't get a title...run the numbers through the police data base! BEFORE YOU GIVE THE MONEY OVER! Bill of sale doesn't prove ownership, it only proves payment. Good Luck with your Banshee shopping.

Mine fit the frame fine, but are hard to get into position. I almost gave up and pulled the carbs to make room to get the head pipes on. One thing I will add is...We've found LOTS of the banshee's have the tail bent up in the back. This will really mess with the fitment of things like pipes, grab bars, plastic, seats, etc. If your bike or his bike is bent up (Or sometimes rarely down) even a little bit in back it could explain why they fit one but not the other. Of 7 banshee's in my group of friends, 1 was bent down and 4 were bent up (2 were BAD) Most of us didn't even notice till we were looking at flag angles one day. You might not think it's bent till you see a straight one. LOL.

GREAT POINT! A cub motor will DRINK fuel in a trail setting. I've got a 472 cheetah with powervalves and it doesn't matter what gear it's in, it won't hook in anything other than sand. 2-guys in my ride group found out the hard way that a 421 cub is junk for the trails. they took they're new 421 cub motors out for a day of woods/trail riding at the local off-road park and burnt thru a ton of fuel ($$ RACE GAS $$) doing nothing but spinning tires, and over reving motors. Stick with a stock type cylinder.

to swap back to duel carbs or not
WINDYCITYJOHN400 replied to gmctruck1976's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
When your left cylinder reed is closed...the left carb doesn't pull. That's always 1/2 the time. No matter what the speed. So are you saying that a simple 350cc motor will be faster breathing 1/2 the time through a 28 bore carb vs. 1/2 the time through a 35pwk? -

to swap back to duel carbs or not
WINDYCITYJOHN400 replied to gmctruck1976's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
YES! I'm a BIG fan of the 2into1 carb setup. I'm not a fan of the trinity unit though. It gives up some on the top end because the air has to make such a drastic turn to go from one side to the other. I've seen GREAT things from the GRAYDON 2 into 1 unit. I honestly feel that it MAKES power over the 2 carb setup. Most guys will say that 2 carbs will give you more flow....But remember with 2 carbs, each carb only pulls 1/2 the time. As the motor pulses, so does the flow thru the carbs. With a Graydon 2 into 1 the carb is set back farther and the runners leading to the motor are about 4" long. This makes your motor get a tunnel ram effect. Also the single carb flows non-stop. Just like a motor on a super speedway...Wide open. A 35PWK with a 50 pilot and a 178 main was a rocket on a 350 with a milled head and a backyard porters stage 2 port job. That bike out ran the 4-strokes in the woods. Even with a +6 arm. On the sand with the +6 and a set of 21X12X8- 12 paddle extremes, (set up for Michigan sand riding) it was putting beatdowns on Trinity 4 mill stock cylider bikes with stage 4 port work. And it was a RAT BANSHEE, which really pissed of the guys with the polished Trinity bikes when this old faded hunk of banshee with zip-ties holding cracked plastic together, that was stored outside under a tarp showed up and out runs them. If you like the single carb, stick with it. Spend some money on a timing plate and set it at +4 to +6, then spend $150 and get some good custom cut domes from a site sponser. You'll really be happy with the performace boost. I'm looking for a Graydon set-up right now for the wife's new bike. It's my woods bike/her dune ride.(should have kept my mouth shut.) LOL. My 2 cents...Good Luck. -
First- I'd lube the snot out of the cable even if it's new. Then if you want you can cut the springs down a little. On the 35PWK carbs the throttle pull is tough. The Yamaha Worrior carb springs fit perfect in them and lighten the pull on the carbs.

Our whole group does the Dune/Drag sceen at Silverlake Michigan. The sand is different than other places. Guys in Michigan tend to run more tire than other areas. We have bikes in our group running the same power as your setup. I'd recommend a +6 arm and 22X11X8- 10 paddle Extremes with a 14 tooth front and 41-43 rear. If your looking to do a "Duneable" Override trans, I'd recommend Calling the guys at WCR and ordering their new "Extreme Dunable Override" It's totaly different than the other "Duneables" that have been out for a while. It's ALL NEW. It upshifts like a Override AND downshifts the same! AND you can backload it all day long just like a stock tranny. The shift forks DON'T hold the gears in place. The trans is cut different and will be just what your looking for. Mine is a 2-5 neutral down.

Banshee 2x4x4 idea for winter & summer
WINDYCITYJOHN400 replied to Velislide's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Or...I'll sell you a 89' 500 polaris fan cooled or a 85' 600 tripple and you can ride the 500 in the snow and save the 6oo to ride in the sand. For the price I'll give them to you at...if they break, you can just walk away. You can buy sleds newer than your banshee in every part of the country that will cost less than your custom arm. Heck you can get a running sled for less than the cost of a track. But if you wanna fab something up...go ahead. Everybody loves a cool "Road Warrior" Monster Garage build. Paint it green when your done, it'll look alot like a john deer gator. -

I knew a guy who's brother airbrushed an icecream truck! Small world. LOL. I don't have pictures of that either. Looking forward to his next post titled "Breast implants..Are these too big" LOL.

Point out the fact that his daddy ain't got the IQ to help him thru this. Tell him you told him not to ride it till you helped him. Then take great care in telling him YOUR SMARTER THAN THE DEALER. After that's soaked in, tell him your the smartest guy on the block and unless he's got someone else to save his sorry a$s he'd better show you some God Darned RESPECT! Then give him the best advice you could ever give. Tell him "Listening is a skill"......WORK ON IT! If he doesn't like it...close the door. LOL.
