  1. Note: Articles in dirt wheels no longer have the name of the writer. It just lists "dirt wheels Staff" as the writer. Also note that it was a "Trinity" modded raptor. So they take a mostly stock Banshee they bought off the internet and do a few suspension mods to it, then test it against the big bore Trinity motor. I don't buy Dirt wheels anymore. But the Sister-in-law gives me a subscription every year cause she knows we're into ATV's. (Plus it helps her kid sell more magazine subscriptions for some club he's in.) After that last issue I told my wife the only value this magazine has is the readers rides section......and the damn pictures.
  2. You don't know me because your a dick and I steer clear of dicks. I hit the West Michigan track June 20th. Not my first time...surely not my last....but no I don't sign up for the races cause I'd like to make more than a handful of runs in a weekend. I'm running a dune bike, not a dedicated drag machine. But that doesn't mean that performance doesn't matter in the dunes. Ran a 4.37 at 72MPH with my fully suspended dune bike with front brakes and Elka shocks. That was with a new motor and last years set-up. (1.63 interim....needs work) But I've raced NHRA for years. I took a Pro Tree against Randy Goodale (He asked for the Pro Tree) My reaction time...0.194 His...0.654 100% of my opinion of Trinity is correct. They deserve every bit of bad mouthing that they get. If you have a problem with my spreading the word about what Trinity DOESN'T know. Then your a fool. I've been telling every person I can that the SB Shearer works better on the 4-10 mill motors. I know because I tested it on our dyno. You thought your 10 mill was a runner....till the new owner tried a different pipe and "It picked up everywhere" So I guess I'll question your tuning abilities and judgement about when a motor is running it's best. Because if a "Duner" knows this shit and you don't.. What info are you sharing to help others? Nothing.....just your own personal Biography. I'm on here saying I've seen independent testing and it wasn't the results you want to see. I'm asking to get a set sent to me so I can do my own dyno testing that I can then freely share because it will be MY work product. (Stop saying dyno's are worthless. Every NASCAR, NHRA, INDY team uses them to find power.) Track testing is a mixed bag....smaller motors beat bigger motors all the time. NOTE: The "Sniper pipes" that everyone is talking about are the In-Frame models . But thanks for telling us about a set of OOF pipes that you have, but haven't tested. Oh I'll be at Silver Lake this weekend for the HQ ride. I'm still waiting to here if someone is renting the track.........
  3. "Return to sender" C.O.D. You can't go wrong dealing with Cameron at Redline. Fastest turn around time I've ever dealt with!
  4. I'll try to keep it short so Tyler won't get mad...... OK :notworthy: :notworthy: Your the man. :notworthy: Passion + Sniper = the worlds best combo of technology ever. Now go drop that bike in the sand and line it up next to the guy who told you your pipe was "A really good pipe." Matt built his motor and his pipe. The Sniper was developed on a Passion 4 mill. So there is all the testing you ever need to see! Both guys have motors and pipes that are designed to feature the strong aspects of the total package. So if that bike is finally running............ Go beat Matt or let us enjoy watching Sniper and Passion destroy each other with the blame game. I know the race never got ran.....but get busy planning another race. Because Matt was willing to put his 4 mill up against your 10. That alone speaks volumes. I means he's either not afraid of the Sniper pipes........or he's not afraid of a passion motor.......or both. (Oh yes I did!)
  5. He's wanting to race on a flat dragstrip. (I hate those dragstrips that have hills) What do they call them?........Motocross dragstrips.
  6. Well I don't know about not getting a price cut...............I got a free Pro Mod and a free Duneable override. So like I said....He cuts a great tranny and is a great guy. But he's weary of letting some low paid shop helper have access to peoples credit cards to take payment and handle shipping, so his wife has done it in the past and that was a BIG issue for a long time. Now they moved and Greg was going to take the whole tiger by the tail...but doing it all can burn out your brain. You work all day and next thing you know it's time to ship stuff and you never got it boxed up.
  7. Yep heard that one before. Kids truck got totaled....had to take packages to the post office in the race car......lost box under seat of truck.....will ship by Friday......oops by next friday....oops NEXT friday....almost done with it now....Poor dogs got Cancer....found it sitting at the post office and they never called to let me know it was still there......big storm...no power for 3 days.....this phone system just doesn't work.....I don't listen to messages because it's just 30 people hanging up and it takes me 1/2 hour every day to go thru them.....
  8. I wouldn't be waiting.............. Greg runs a great tool machine....but he's not the strongest technician when it comes to a postal scale. I can't bash his quality of product....but his shipping department is a whole nother story. Squeaky wheel get's the grease.
  9. Many have tested them. But your not going to see an established outfit post that because that would be unprofessional. Then we would have the whole debate about what dyno, who did the test, did they tune to the pipe, was the motor built for the other pipe, blah, blah blah. I've seen runs...but won't source them, nor post the results because I wasn't the one doing the testing. But if I do the tuning and testing as research for someone...then it's fair game.
  10. Yep....was worth 3 HP on my motor. Cheapest power I think I ever made.
  11. Rookie statement and common in the sale of a banshee........Someone gets the motor bored "40 over" and thinks they just gained 40cc's. Then the new owner believes everything the previous owner told him and he thinks he has a 390 banshee.
  12. X2 - REDLINE FTW!
  13. You know...it's kinda funny. This sport is a very small group of people and nobody wants to be the wet blanket on the other guy. You all seem to think that the top builders haven't tried the Snipers. WRONG. I've spoken to 4 very well known top builders (Record holders even) who have tried those pipes on more than one motor and on the dyno saw none of the reported success. You all think that they haven't tried them on un-biased builds. WRONG. You aren't seeing the dyno sheets because nobody has the balls to bash the other guy. It's not professional to get into PUBLIC shop bashing. Team Sniper has flirted with knocking Shearers just from his statements about how good his pipe is. It lead to a dune race challenge last year that never materialized into a race. But the guy who was being knocked was willing to go to the other guys back yard and bring his best 4 mill to go against the others best 10 mill. I sure wish it had settled some questions....but we'll just have to wait to see if there is a second attempt at a challenge. I can rant from time to time, but I'll just throw this out there for everyone to chew on..........Last time I checked there was a group of people who seemed to think Jim at Passion was a top builder. Now correct me if I'm wrong, but the snipers were developed on a Passion 4 mill. So I believe that the whole "Top builders will never try anything new or build to what this new design can do" excuse has been covered. Now I don't see any national records held by Jim or Gary. So I'm still not sure why everyone thinks Snipers are the next best thing when there is no evidence that they have that potential. I've seen The Sniper dyno reports. I'm not saying that the Snipers aren't the best pipe for a Passion 4 mill. They must be. I would think EVERY Passion 4 mill owner would want a set since they were designed for a Passion 4 mill. So why aren't all the Passion 4 mill motors cleaning up trophies at your local tracks? I mean....if Jim is a top builder and Gary has a pipe that makes 10+ more HP than any other........ Something doesn't add up to the hype. Either Jim's motors aren't contenders on a national level, or Gary's pipes aren't able to deliver on the +10 promise. I'll admit that the Snipers look very nice and fit great. So do polished boost bottles. The real question is......Do they actually make more power? Jury is still out.............. Yes I'm a Shearer nut swinger.....but it's due to dyno tested and proven results that I've personally seen on the dyno. But in the endless monkey bars that the HP wars of life are....I'm always looking for the next place to swing.
  14. Great....so now we don't have your easy-up as the base of operations...... Anyone come up with the track plan yet?
  15. I keep checking on what all the record setting bikes out there run and I still haven't seen any snipers on any of the top 3 bikes in any category. So........I'll keep swingin from Matt's nuts.
  16. That's part of the micro polish you can do.
  17. In 90% of the cases of overheating, the issue is jetting. More volume in the water jackets won't help....it's about surface area. The water should keep moving on thru and take the heat with. So you don't need to store more hot water in the cylinder. Just move it. You can get impellers all over the place. Mull Engineering has a nice one. EVERY Banshee should have a billet impeller. Mull now has a metal drive gear for the impeller too! You combine a metal drive gear and a fresh billet impeller and you'll have a bullet proof water pump system. You can make 80+ HP and still keep it cool with a stock radiator with no problems. If you don't have a radiator full of mud....or a bike that's spending the day in first gear with the motor pinned to the moon...then cooling should be fine. If it's hot.....it's in the jetting. The PILOT jet is the issue more often than not.
  18. Add drum bearing, cut off every other dog, shift shaft mod, micro polish if you want every little trick. The key to a good tranny mod is more about doing it quickly and getting it back to the customer in a timely fashion. If some people could master that....they would be giants in the industry. But a few have ruined peoples seasons with turn around times that are MONTHS long. Glad to see we have some members who are getting it done good and quick.
  19. Oh sure! You grab up the lats sites out there...then bail after I'm all locked in with the expensive room at the Sierra Sands. Nice. That's OK....I'll still enjoy the Jacuzzi. So what happened? Nothing bad I hope.....
  20. Wes is a guy who I am willing to vouch for any day! He's got a whole bike he's parting guys and the prices are right. Bid and buy with confidence.
  21. Trust me it's on the list brother. But 3 kids and a wife can be a financial anchor sometimes. I'm 42, so I'll be in one by the time I hit 50. There aren't many over 50 members still doing a lot of hard core dune riding, cause with age comes the cage. I will plan to skip the side x side craze and jump the shark and go with a 5 seat Extreme Performance or Buckshot X-5. But for now I'll just troll for free rides.
  22. A Warrior is a Warrior and will always look and perform like a Warrior. That's why your getting a great deal on it.......it's a Warrior.
  23. Leave it alone and ride it for a while and enjoy. Read up on plug chops and do a few. Don't trust that the last guy had the jetting right. Don't do any mods or building till your competent at carb tuning or your hate yourself for it later.
