Here is a little background first. I went riding over the weekend and rode all day at Silver Lake. After about a 30 min hard ride, wot in 6th. I heard the top end go. This is only my third weekend on this motor. Well after taking out the plugs I must have developed an air leak (one was chocolate the other was white). I have done plug chops on both sides before and jetting seemed good.
I took the head off the piston came apart on the intake side.
The only thing that looks damaged is the piston and the dome.
Ok now to get to my actual question. I have slight wear marks that you cant feel but you cant see the cross hatching from the hone. Should I be running a hone through it. If so which one? I was looking at getting a ball hone from mcmaster or borrowing one from one of the mechanics at work. I can probably post pictures of the cylinders later. I just hope these wear marks are too much and I would need to get it re-plated.
