  1. I have heard 155-160 is around the limit of premium pump fuel. You are well within the limits of pump fuel.
  2. I personally think that a 300 main is still kind of fat. I think that it would have been in the 260-280 range. Have you done a plug chop. (I did not read all of the above just kind of skimmed through)
  3. Also not sure anyone could could actually tell you what is perfect from your listed mods (may get lucky by guessing) bc jetting is kind of picking a starting point and adjusting with plugs chops and by feel. Slight porting is very vague I think that makes it a little more difficult. My dune ported 350 was around a 370 main on the main before the port it was a 280. Depending on how "slight" it is my guess would be in the lower 300's. Chances are you are not going to have it perfect the first time and will need a few sets of jets. From what I remember the are like $2.5 each right?
  4. Cam 2 is 110 race fuel.
  5. I think that you would be happiest with stock gearing (14/41) especially on sand and with 22" tires. Maybe move to a 15 up front for hard packed but not even sure about that.
  6. Four years ago I paid $2700 for my 2001. It also came with skat traks all the way around. If you really want to sell it I think 3k is a little high.
  7. I have had my boss intake for 2 years. No problems yet. But I think I will order an extra set of boots just in case.
  8. Thanks, I guess that is why I ask questions. I did not know that.
  9. This is my first time dealing with NiCaSil so I don't really know what it looks like when it is damaged but my guess would be it is not. It just looks like vertical wear marks on the both cylinders. Very light cant even feel them. There is just no hatching in the vertical marks. Not even sure if I should be running with them. I will post pictures and get your guys thoughts. Thanks
  10. Here is a little background first. I went riding over the weekend and rode all day at Silver Lake. After about a 30 min hard ride, wot in 6th. I heard the top end go. This is only my third weekend on this motor. Well after taking out the plugs I must have developed an air leak (one was chocolate the other was white). I have done plug chops on both sides before and jetting seemed good. I took the head off the piston came apart on the intake side. The only thing that looks damaged is the piston and the dome. Ok now to get to my actual question. I have slight wear marks that you cant feel but you cant see the cross hatching from the hone. Should I be running a hone through it. If so which one? I was looking at getting a ball hone from mcmaster or borrowing one from one of the mechanics at work. I can probably post pictures of the cylinders later. I just hope these wear marks are too much and I would need to get it re-plated.
  11. You have to rejet
  12. I have 33 pwks and I almost never choke both (unless it is really cold) I just pull the choke on one to start it. It fires and I turn the choke off.
  13. Rocky Mountain $10 Each http://www.rockymountainatvmc.com/productDetail.do?navType=type&webTypeId=88&navTitle=Electrical&webCatId=20&prodFamilyId=23126
  14. The lockout worked great. I love this motor. It is a great dune motor. Turns out I must have an air leak somewhere. I burnt up my right piston. I did a leak down test when assembling and it was good. I also have rode it two previous weekends and all day saturday before it happened. I am wondering if I ripped an intake boot. I pulled out the plugs and the one was a beautiful chocolate. The other was white The cylinder wall seems to be ok. I am going to pull it apart tonight and inspect further. I will post pictures of the carnage.
  15. Both ways work good. The heat wrap you will need to wrap it a few times. My outerwears have never melted and they are sitting up against the heat wrap.
  16. I use the 10 deg. I have run the cascade heat wraps and I am currently using header wrap to keep them from burning the outerwears.
  17. Do you know what a cc is?
  18. I would say build a trail bike and drag it if you want to do both. If you trail ported and got some 28pwks and a coolhead. Maybe different pipes(I dont know much about sst's). It would be a much faster quad and still be good on the trails. By far porting is the best bang for your buck though.
  19. Those two types of riding are at the opposite end of the spectrum. Much different setups. You can have a good trail bike that you drag race but not going to be great(not nearly the fastest). But I think it is going to be harder to have a good drag bike and take it trail riding. I have had pods with outerwears on mine for a long time now. I have never had an issue with water while riding.(I take them off while trailering and cap the carbs) We even water skim and no issues so far.
  20. My guess is a few thousand.
  21. I have never seen high comp. pistons for a banshee. Did you have some in mind? To raise comp. you either have a cool head and select smaller dome sizes or have your stock head milled.
  22. Pics? How many paddles?
  23. X2. I have never had a problem with it.
  24. Ethanols octane rating is around 101 if I remember correctly. 220 psi seems kind of high for that. I could be wrong though.
