You won't fly up the hills like Matt, not until you get a motor with similar ponies. But with that bike, and it looks like you have 22" on it in the rear, go with the 13 tooth in the front if you want to climb some hills with 22" tires. It makes the world of a difference. I didn 't change mine yet, but had other bikes and friends that did. That's the front you want for the coal hills with the big tires In fact, scratch that. I did have a 13 tooth on the front with my old current setup but after I did my motor thought it would push out enough to use the 14. After I get this figured out I might. The thing you have to think about is gears... what gear are you going to climb that hill in? ETC. ETC. The big hills you want to do in 3rd to have good speed, and maybe downshift towards the top, etc. A 13 tooth setup on banhsee with 22" tires is awesome with that. But depending on the power, the same results can be yielded with a 14 on the front, as in Matt's case. You don't want 2nd too short but 3rd too long, which is the case with most stock stroke banshees, regardless of portwork, with 22" tires and the 14 tooth. That is the situation on BIG hills. Smaller hills you can play around in any gearing... but to climb the big ones, you have to set her up good with 22" tires and good gearing to get the perfect speed and havea good strong 2nd gear to jump things on hills, or maneaver if need be. But you have to test it. I think I will get away with a 14 in the front after I get this pigstye I am currently in figured out, I really do. Good luck

Wow, that is a trade right there. I'd do it in a heartbeat...

I am taking it over tomorrow to do a leakdown, and if that fails, I am just going to tell him to keep it until he gets it screaming like it should. I am done with the machine... I did all that I can do. I checked the flywheel and stator, all electrical shit. Leakdown next. After that, let it to the pro. Might not make it Saturday. If I do, I will be out. If not, I am not going to hurt her by riding it with something wrong. That is pointless...

Well Kevin said with 116 and my compression, the motor is only calling for 104 (roughly). The low rpm's can't burn the high octane points fast, but in high rpm's, it could and not be noticed. My exact condition. So it all makes sense. But if that's not the problem, since I am getting the lower octane gas tomorrow, I am doing a leakdown to check for air leaks, etc. I am not running this until she is good to go. Until then, she will sit.

I got new hubs since I sold my stockers. They came without bolts and stuff... so I am stuck now. Albert is going to take a look at my bike. He talked with Kevin so both are on the same page with why my bike was built the way it was and how it should run. Al did PJ's bike.

You can make it from Coal Hill in Trevorton to Shenandoah on the trails around here. This area is a nice place to live if you ride ATV's... well sometimes the police don't like it, but oh well I doubt I'll be able to ride. Just checked the local hardware stores for bolts for my hubs I just got and nobody can fit them up. So I am down without hubs. Not to mention I have a bike that isn't running good. I think I am just going to take it over to the shop that did my buddies bike that runs really good. Don't really have the money for this right now but I am kidding myself if I think I am going to figure it out. Have fun guys
-
Well most probably won't believe this, but 3 different hardware stores couldn't fit these up. The clerks couldn't even believe they didn't have 1.5" or 2" bolts to fit these fine threaded hubs. Unbelievable. Should be rather amusing to give lonestar a call and get pricing on each one of the 10 bolts I need

What I have to do is just stop trying to tell myself I can fix this and just have the guy that built one for a local guy that runs really good look at it. He talked with my engine builder and both are on the same page. This is beyond me. I spent 11 days trying to do it, and keep starting over and over. And coming back here asking the same questions. I think the problems will shock most here, I really do. This is something that most of us wouldn't think... It is just dying at the low end, and the top end isn't as impressive as I would think. It doesn't pull all the way through the gears like it should. You really have to clutch it and such.

This is not a drag bike. This is a playing bike that I climb with and drag occasionally. So why would I bump my timing higher?

I appreciate the help guys. 1. This is not a jetting problem. 101% not jetting. 2. The NGK plugs right out of the box are gapped right for this motor. That is is coming from Kevin's mouth. As of right now, in terms of power, this has about as much as my 2 into 1 setup had. It screams but nothing like people would think or what guys claim of this portwork. I know what it had before, and I know what it has now. A port job and all of this stuff I did should make it run and that's just not the case. My last setup would beat this one probably. That is why I know something is wrong.
-
It's not jetting for sure. I currently have 155 mains and 48 pilots in. I had it as rich as 162 mains and 52 pilots and as lean as 45 pilots and 150 mains. And i had the air screw 1.5 turns to 2.5 turns out on every jetting trick I tried. Just please guys, take my word here... this is not jetting.

There are some fun hills right behind the fire company across from the high school...

As most of you know, I am having some problems with my bike. It has a badlow end problem. Just doesn't want to go. After speaking with the motor builder, and a guy around here who also does the motors, they think I am running too high of octane. I was running 116 and only had 185 PSI in the jugs. So would this cause a bog down low, like the rpms aren't high enough to burn the fiel fast? It wasn't missing, just taking a long time to get on the power. I drained it as both recommended to run lower, around 104-105. I now need to get some. If that doesn't solve this, then I don't know what to do. I want to run +6 timing like the builder says, but I hear that takes alot away from the low end. Then I have guys saying advancing the timing will take away from the top end. Hell if advancing the timing is taking my bottom end away I'll take the plate right out and put the stock one back in. But I never played with timing before so I couldn't say from first hand experience. You want to talk about being confused?
-
Hey, thanks alot man. I appreciate the help.
-
Burrito, thanks for the response. These are missing the nuts though, the studded threaded rods. And I don't think you can get them anywhere. Also missing the side screw that tightens them up since they are slit. More bad luck for me... Dammit
-
Does anyone know how to get these to work??
-
Guys, I sold my stock hubs and ended up getting these. Not sure who makes them, bought them on ebay and the seller n ever got back to me. I kind of got screwed I think because they didn't come with the lugnut studs to screw the lugs/tire onto. They also have a splice in them, and one picture shows that a bolt needs to go into the side to keep them from opening. My luck... anybody know who might make these hubs, or where I can find there studs? The holes are threaded
-
You need to jump down a tooth in the front if you want the hillclimbing/no clutching power. If the hills are like ours, that's what you will want to do... assuming you are running the stock front on it. That way no more clutching in 3rd. 15 bucks and the problem is solved. Everyone around here does it with the 'shees
-
Anyone have any ideas? Or any input on the octane being too high for 185 PSI? Causing the low end not being there?
-
No way
-
Let's give Shenandoah a try...
-
Yes... both silencers have oil coming out, and the plugs are wet on the threads. But not inside. I am mixing at 32:1 or 36:1 everytime I mix 5 gallon. Kevin doesn't want me to go any leaner than 36:1 on this motor. But even when I ran the bike lean on the jets it was the same way. So it's not a rich jetting issue
-
Start it off rich and like stated, if fresh motor/rebuild, do some heat cycles.
-
I want to hear your opinions on the too high octane with 185 lbs. Like I said, I was running and still am 116 octane on 185 per cylinder. Can that cause that hesitation since the fuel is burning too slow/ Both me and Kevin thought it would be higher, that's why I was running that high of Octane. What do you think?
