World of wheels... Dose this belong to someone here?
bbcmudtruck replied to rjdgriff's topic in General Banshee Discussion
I'm fairly certain I've seen that bike at Garrets down at GT Performance? -
Come on dude, load the rest of the pics! I don't think I've even got to see most of them. Go to www.photobucket.com and upload them to there. Then copy and paste the direct image link here. So easy even a suzuki rider could do it!

Great timing! haha, I talked to JD last week about making the same stuff for my YFZR. I'm sending him my stock rear sprocket hub to get all the dimensions he needs. JD is a handy mexican to have around sometimes. Also, the majority of riders who have the dual setup have switched to the single setup on the sprocket guard due to debri packing in and tearing up the chain.

What makes a special edition banshee, special?

The special editions have the faster powerbands (green ones I think). -

Are you sure you put the little black hose that connects the two carbs back on? -
x2, I'm pretty sure I bought a front end off of him a few years back.

A hack saw would be pretty time consuming, but with a few extra blades, you could probably get it out of there. That bolt is pretty dam hard, its going to be difficult for sure! I used a sawzall and it was still pretty tough to get it out of there. Anti sieze is your answer for this project. Just apply a very liberal coat when you reassemble!

Trade them for a set of 9" rears on YFZ central or quadforce.com. Most MX guys run 8" rears. You shouldn't have any trouble trading them for a 9" set just like them.

Grooves on fingers of Magnum basket
bbcmudtruck replied to 2004LEBanshee's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Unless its deeply grooved, I'd leave it alone. Ive seen guys file the stock baskets, but never seen anyone file a billet basket. I would worry about grooving it at a wrong angle or fucking up the fingers. -
Build form frame up or buy ?
bbcmudtruck replied to troyzstang's topic in General Banshee Discussion
I say buy one. With a budget of 2k, you won't get much done. I'd buy the best one you can find as close to 2k as possible, then build it up from there. You'll be way ahead in the long run. -
Adding a 4 stroke to the garage, Which one to BUY ?
bbcmudtruck replied to Infamous039's topic in General Banshee Discussion
To get a decent amount of power out of the R, your looking at a pretty hefty price tag. Somewhere in the vicinity of 3000 bucks. However, that's starting from scratch, and ending up with a 55-60hp bike. A 60 horse 4 stroke has some balls. You can't compare the power between them and a banshee, because you you can get a 4mil serval that will stomp the shit out of a 60 horse thumper. But I'm assuming that you want a good trail/mx type bike. I dynoed my bike this year at the ls trip and it made 44 hp with a dasa pipe, fci intake and MSD programmer. I haven't sent my motor out for port work yet, but I'm having the head ported, bigger valves put in and the throttle body bored out along with a big bore cylinder and high comp piston. This combo is proven to provide 60 horse. I don't have the time or know how to assemble the engine, so I'm having the builder do it all in house for an additional 200 bucks. To me, that's cheap insrance in knowing that everything was put together correctly. Plus I'm to the point in life where I just don't want to work on shit, so I just pay the builder to do it for me. -
Adding a 4 stroke to the garage, Which one to BUY ?

I'm not going to get into a pissing match with ya. Simple statement, you don't see any pro riders still rockin the older bikes. Your not going to change my opinion. And yes, I think the r with factory suspension is just as good as a set of aftermarket shocks on the older bikes, IF dialed in correctly. Why, because I personaly have seat time on both. Besides, you can buy an r that has a decent amount of upgrades for less than 5 and have twice the bike. I'm not saying the older yfzs are junk by any means. Just saying that the R's are much, much better. That's my opinion, and your not going to make any arguable point to sway me different. The only draw back on the R's is obtaining power. It costs a little more than a carbed bike. They are superior in every other way. If your patient enough, you can find a low hour r for around 3500. For example, there was a very clean low hour R on the kansas city craigslist for 3500 just a month ago. To me, it makes more sense to buy the best and then invest your money into it from that point forward. As far as Runs bike goes, I think he was asking waaaay to much for it. He bought it built for 6 or less, added a few bolt ons and then tried to flip it. The guy that built that bike probably did have 8 or more in it, but like anything in this sport, we all know it doesn't mean that's what its worth plus runs bike was still on factory X suspension, not R. -

Really? I think its retarded to spend 3gs on less of a bike. I guess if you can't affordit, then an 07 or 08 would be thenext best option. But even in stock form, the rs have better suspension than the older bikes with upgraded shocks. -

Seriously? have you ridden the 09 and up R bikes? No comparison. The carb bikes are easier to get power out of, and that is the ONLY advantage. The R can be made just as fast, just needs a little more money to do it. -
Forget the banshee, I want to see you hitting 60ft gaps on a tripod!
-
MSD has dominated the racing circuit for just about any sport by providing a hotter more consistent spark for years. There could be some advantages here, but that kind of price tag is ridiculous. I don't think its going to yeild that much of a hp increase, especially when you factor in the hp/dollar amount. I'm interested to see the results though!

Adding a 4 stroke to the garage, Which one to BUY ?
bbcmudtruck replied to Infamous039's topic in General Banshee Discussion
I'm currently shopping for a trail bike since I got my R spiffed up so much, I don't want to tear it up in the trials. I too thought that the KFX would be the ticket, just because it has reverse. Once I rode one, I changed my mind instantly. My buddies KFX has Elkas on it with all the regular bolt ons and I absolutely hated it. Its too narrow, top heavy, and uncomfortable as shit. The seat is rock hard and I constently felt like I was sitting way to high. End result, KFX450 came off of my shopping list immediately. They don't even compare to the YFZ450R. Best advise, go do what I did and ride everyones bike. Surely you have enough friends with different bikes to try out. Ask JD and Dammit bob how they liked my bike. I wouldn't be surprised at all if Dammit Bob already went out and bought one. -

I didn't see anyone mention the new YFZ450R. They are hands down the best bike out of the box that I have ridden, by far. One draw back is that they require a little more money to get power out of compared to the carb bikes, but the handling makes up for it easily. I went on a poker run with a guy that had just bought a CanAm 450 and it sounded like the valve train was getting ready to blow apart. I don't know if it was bad luck or a lemon, but it sounded horrible. The KFX450s are very narrow and stiff. I dont like my buddys kfx at all. Two of my buddies have LTRs and they are constently fighting their fuel injecters. Plus, I can bottom out their bikes fairly easily. I've never rode a KTM so I can't share any experience there, but my vote goes to the YFZ450R! They look good, handle excellent and are by far the most comfortable. Heres a pic of my bike. I've added quite a few more upgrades since this pic, but its the most recent. Pic from 2011 HQ trip -
I didn't really care for the razrs. I just bolted up a new set of ITP GNCC holeshot 6plys and they are animals! Also surprisingly light.
-
I put one of them on with no problems. Be sure to use anti seize on every single nut and bolt, else you will snap them off. The kit comes complete with a ton of extra shit as well.

HAHAHA, thread fail. Anyways, see if Sniper will send you some pipes to test out against the ones you have. I'd like to see the shearers, R2's, original Rockets, CPI's and Snipers put against each other on this motor.
