port timing #'s and a few questions
ninjamuder replied to ninjamuder's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
i am almost 100% they are sb/inframe shearers, just dont have any solid proof!!! :: .......i have no identifying marks on the pipes whatsoever, but i have suspected that's what they were since i bought the bike....also, have compared to tons of pics on here, and also on a couple of site's that sell em anyone know how to tell for sure??????? plating on the l/h pipe is flaking off pretty bad, so i was just goint to scuff em and spray w/ some 2000 deg. vht paint -
curious, been looking at em, they look like they would work good as a xc/hardcore trail tire, but noone around here runs em......... opinions welcome folks!!!!
-
sorry, not tryin to poach a post............do you know if these will work w/ shearer silencers, and also, how do they make power........all low end.......all top.......good all around??????? looking for a decent woods pipe to replace my smallbore shearers with

port timing #'s and a few questions
ninjamuder replied to ninjamuder's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
erm........ if im thinking right, since it is set up for a 4 mill......you would need to lower the port roof measurement 2mm from to top of the cyl deck for use w/a std crank, i think?????? .......sorry, gotta crash, since i hafta be at work in 5 hours, so i'm pretty much numb from the neck up!!lol man, if ya wouldnt mind mapping those, that would be awesome!!!! i wish i could afford to go w/the toomey's, but i gotta stick with what i got for now.....po-boy budget!!! as far as tooling, i have pretty much all the stuff i need for doing anything, including smothing the transfer wall's, i just dont wanna mess with the roof angles right now, this motor just isnt going to be exotic enough to really take advantage of it......maybe later on down the road tho..... -
stock banshee steel plates, not burned, or warped stock"ish" friction plates, not glazed, or warped.......about only 7-8 total hours on these friction plates just put a new set of ebc kevlar's for the fzr600 in the shee, along w/ new steel's, figgered id try to help someone out, and ease the clutter on my workbench!! :geek: best offer takes it

hey guys, wonder if you could help me out a bit.......got my cylinders re-honed, and now i'm looking to do some light porting on my jugs.....these are totally stock, so they havent been molested by someone else.......basically, i am looking for some decent port timing #'s to compliment my other mods......shearer smallbore's, 28mm pwk's, r/s timing plate, std airbox w/o lid, 18cc domes in a cool head, 2 stage boyesen reeds in stock cages with reed limiters removed, 65.5mm wiseco's with hotrods std crank, 13/41 gearingw/ 20" rears i really dont want to raise the ex. port timing, at least no more than 1mm...although, i have considered widening it for more flow without making it too "peaky" for what i want, then, i had planned to do a typical "clean-up, and knife edge" of the intake runner, and the transfer port dividers.....possibly also matching the cases to the cylinders, as i havent yet re-assembled the bottom end i have done porting on several different 2-strokes over the years, mostly later model mx, and xc type set-ups for bikes, i just havent dealt w/ a shee till now.........i know it aint gonna run like a thumper on the bottom, but thats part of the addiction, right????? i just dont want this thing to be dead below 11k rpm like my banshee-sho pocketbike, but it max's out at almost 18k rpm!!!!!............also, i cant re-buld the big shee in 45 minutes like i can the little guy!! lolol i aint expecting the guys who do this for a living to spill all the family secerets, just looking for a little push in the right direction.....i aint draggin, or shreddin dunes, i just want a good running, fairly snappy off the bottom woods motor thanks for any help yall can throw me folks!!!!! joe

sounds like it could be getting low on compression .......pull plugs, install comp. tester, W.O.T., kick her over till needle dosent increase any more........WRITE IT DOWN......repeat for other cyl......post here and we can help ya from there compression on my shee w/18cc domes was in the low 80's on both holes have no idea how it still ran, but my symptom's were identical to yours good luck!!

10-inch wheels, 9-inch hubs.....
ninjamuder replied to 350TwinDeathBed's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
this is gonna sound retarded, but check and see if they will bolt onto the front hubs........if they do, you have a 4x156 bolt patteren.......the polaris predator 500 had this hub patteren in 2003 only,...then they went to 4x110 like honda.......try it and see, but i have no idea who makes a hub for a shee w/ a 4x156 patteren.....good luck with that one!! -

ninjamuder replied to xLastShotx's topic in For Sale - Parts & Accessories
still have these for sale???? -
:wallbash: got my cylinders back from the machine shop earlier today, man, that was money flushed down the toilet!!!!!! the jackass at the place i took them to was NOT my first choice, but more of a last resort, since my regular guy no longer has tooling to do a bore smaller than 75mm(automotive machine shop,..has done wirk for me for almost 15 years now) now dont get me wrong, i am far and away not a master machinist, but i did do all of the cylinder and head work at a previous powersports shop i worked at, and what i got back today looks like SHIT!!!!! the bore to skirt clearance is good, sitting solid at .003" consistently from top to bottom on both cyl's, but the damn hone finish is horrible!!!.........looks like the idiot used about a 120-180 grit stone, and the crosshatch is almost non-existant!!!....wayyyyyyy too shallow.....this thing looks like it will grind a set of rings into powder in 8-15 hours damn, as crappy as itwas to work there, sometimes, there were advantages to the old job...... sorry for the rant.......putting away soapbox now......... wonder if i can smooth em out enough to be useable without getting into a lotta "skirt-slap"
-
