This is my quick take: The old/new HQ has TONS of information that has helped me and countless others. I have been reading long enough to know that you have to sift through the he said she said stuff and listen to the people that know what they're talking about. It only took me a few sessions to figure out who knew their shit and those are the posts I payed attention to. I haven't posted because I have never had much experience with the banshee until lately. Unfortuantely, people that don't have experience continue to post and people have the tendency to take what another says as the truth, without questioning. So you get people that read others' ideas and take them for the truth when they've never tried things themselves, then they turnaround and post what they think is the truth to others. The guys that provide INFORMATION like meat, wheat, banshee370, and others are who make this forum. Without them, good information is lost over time and the more vocal guys that really don't know what they're talking about blabber about the products they have. Some of us are better about seeing what's diahrea from the mouth and what is in fact information, but it's sad when a guy that KNOWS the answers or has the experience doesn't POST because he doesn't want to cause conflict or doesn't feel his information is valued. It is VERY DIFFICULT to understand the intentions or demeanor of a post because it's just words and 90% of communiction isn't words at all. So part of the time people flat mis-understand each other. Other times maybe arguments are heated, but people are only human and make mistakes... have bad days... etc. I think a real man/women lets things go and decides that their community around them (meaning many people) that can benefit greatly, far outweights a squabble with one or two individuals. my $.02

Actually smoothing the surface reduces overall surface area and won't allow it to cool quite as well. Also, polished/reflective surfaces tend to magnify the heat and will result in some heat soak. I don't think it's enough to worry about though. I'm in a delima whether it's worth it to polish everything up and have to maintain it and not ride in the dirt, or just bead blast it and play everywhere without worrying about it. tough call.

The aluminum bearing carrier on my shee weighs 5lbs, so that'd make your swingarm weigh 4lbs!!!! w/ the brake mounts......either your scale is wrong, or titanium is light as hell and lefty really doesn't have a Ti swingarm that he paid for... I'll post the weight of my stocker tomorrow night... The bearing carrier on the titanium swingarm is actually slightly smaller and lighter than the regular round house carriers you will find. Also, that is correct the swing arm & round housing carrier & brake bracket etc. together is a feather weight 8.5-9 lbs. That's what I'm trying to say, the titanium swingarm is next to nothing in weight. It's like stainless steel in that it's NOT magnetic.

What is the difference between the two systems they offer for the banshee. I know one has a single muffler where both exaust pipes enter with a single exit, and one system uses a true dual. Is there any differences in power etc. between the two? Anybody that has a set or ridden a banshee with a set, how do you like them? Do they work well with porting? I just weighed the titanium swing-arm at 8.5-9lbs with carrier and brake mount etc. I don't have a stock swingarm here to weigh, but the stock bearing carrier alone is 7lbs. So the titanium swingarm +4 extended is 1.5 lbs heavier than the stock bearing carrier! Who wants to weigh the stock swingarm? Anybody else can feel free to throw out the weight of their aftermarket swingarm or a-arms etc. It would be interesting to see the difference in weight between stock and all the aftermarket suspension parts.

Yes it has tapered bearings in a custom light weight bearing carrier.

The titanium swingarm is a hell of a lot lighter. 8.3 lbs with the bearing carrier and brake mount etc. that's a +4. I had a +4 chromoly before that was 12lbs WITHOUT the carrier and brake mount. A stock swingarm with bearing carrier etc. I bet is over 25lbs. Expect around 20-22 with a +4 chromoly version as it sits on the bike. You are looking at a difference in 12-14 lbs over chromoly and significantly more over stock. Titanium is 45% lighter than chromoly and 25% stronger. It's also like stainless steel and aluminum in that it won't rust. We have a RAX fully polished titanium swingarm on Ebay right now.
