  1. Okay, got the shee back, and it's running MUCH better than it was, but for as much money as I put into it, I'm really not impressed... the midrange power is decent, but it still doesn't have any snap down low, and when I get up into 5th and 6th gears, it just seems to want to bog. I'm told that it should easily pick the front end up at least up to 4th gear, and it still barely wants to wheelie in 1st. Seeing as I just completely replaced the entire top end (including the jugs and heads), I can't imagine that it would've already puked something there in just a couple hours of break-in time, but I still can't be absolutely sure what the issue is. Here's what's been modified on the engine: Trinity pipes single 35mm pwk carb with K&N VForce reeds (I think they're from the 1st series) 4mm stroker crank Modquad cool heads The guy who did the top end replacement for me told me that the single carb would cause it to sputter down low until it hit the powerband, but it seems to me that the exact opposite should be true... I'm wondering if he might've jetted it wrong... otherwise, I'm not sure what the deal is. Does the engine come alive after it's properly broken in, is it just the way my setup's made to run, or is something else the issue?
  2. I would tell you to search the forums for "boost bottle", but there are only so many ways to say "too much to pay for a damn paperweight" and they've all pretty much been tapped into, so I'll just save you some time by telling you not to waste your money.
  3. Somebody should email this fruit loop and ask him if he has any muffler belts or headlight oil for a Banshee for sale! :yelrotflmao:
  4. And if you believe that, I've got a pair of Pyramid 10" subwoofers that beat 15" JL Audios in a decibel drag race, only $150!
  5. Well, this Banshee didn't come from this area, I actually bought it off eBay from a guy in eastern Iowa (I'm in north-central NE). He seems to do good work because a lot of people take their machines to him, but he is a bit pricey... At any rate, we got it back together, and we hadn't thought of the fact that the head was machined for .80 over pistons, so it still wasn't making compression... sounds like I'm gonna have to go with new heads anyway. He's gonna call Pro Design and find out if they make anything for stroker motors. I'll let you know what we find out.
  6. Ebay might not be a bad place to look... I wouldn't recommend eBay if you're looking for something that's running and in super-good condition because there's always the possibility of getting hosed on that deal unless you can really inspect the quad up close before you commit to buy it, but since you're mainly just looking for a roller, I don't think you'd be too disappointed. Also, there's always the chance that you can find something around your area on eBay that hasn't been advertised anywhere else. For instance, I bought mine on eBay for $2100, and the guy delivered the quad halfway to here so I only had about a 3 1/2 hour drive to go pick it up. He wasn't completely up front about how well it ran (it was waaaaaay low on compression when I got it and he didn't mention that) but even that considered, I still got my money's worth, since I bet he had at least twice as much in mods on it (he also didn't mention that it has a 4mil stroker crank). Long story short, I have about $3000 into it now, and I figure I have something that'll be at least almost as fast as any 4 stroke that'd cost me twice as much to buy, so I'm happy with how things went.
  7. Crap, can't believe I missed those... guess I'm stuck with my Trinitys for now... On a more serious note, I'll give the seller credit for having a lot cleaner stock pipes than the ones I have sitting out on the garage, but then again, I'd feel like I was committing fraud if I took more than $25 for those boat anchors, so he might've been asking just a tad much.
  8. Ironically enough, the only crash I've had that I didn't walk away from was on a bicycle, long before I started riding dirt bikes/quads. I was riding down a steep-ass hill that was really rough, by the time I got to the bottom I had to be doing at least 50MPH, and I hit a rut from a truck tire... sent me and the bike flipping through the air, I came down on my left shoulder and broke the shit outta it. Other than that, I bailed off my dirt bike a few times, bunged my leg up pretty good on one particular incident, but I walked away from all those.
  9. The cylinders are on the way, I'm guessing we'll have everything back together by next tues. or wed. When I first rode my quad, I had no idea why everybody was saying Banshees were fast, because I wasn't impressed with the power delivery... now I know why. There was another 'Shee in the shop where I took mine, and the mechanic just finished rebuilding it (kind of ironic considering that there are only about three people in this whole area who own Banshees) and he let me take it for a spin, and that one was doing at 1/4th throttle what mine was doing at full throttle when I bought it, so yeah... mine was in pretty bad shape.
  10. Those are some tig ol' bitties right there... I bet Ms. Canada's jealous.
  11. It was already bored 80 over, so we couldn't go any further with it... from the looks of things they didn't do the greatest job of boring it out, which is probably why it never got good compression to begin with.
  12. Can we move this to the repairs/mods forum? It actually didn't have anything to do with the jetting, so it'd be more suited for the r/m forum. Anyway it was in worse shape than I realized, gonna have to rebuild the top end and get a new set of cylinders, so not gonna be cheap... the good news is, it already has a 4mil stroker (dunno why the guy who sold it to me didn't mention that) so once it's back together it should rip. I was told that I wouldn't be doing a whole lot of good by putting cool heads on with the stroker setup, since I'd be paying more to get the heads machined out and I wouldn't be gaining much, if any, HP... is there a cheaper way to keep the engine runnin cooler?
  13. Took it to the shop this morning, the mechanic's gonna tear into it in a couple days and let me know what needs to be replaced... if it won't be too serious, I'm probably going to invest in some cool heads, replace the chain/sprockets, and perhaps get a shift kit put in as well. Ironically enough the guy just got done working on an '03 Banshee and he said that it has no problem putting the back fenders on the ground in 4th gear, and mine wouldn't pick up the front end past 1st gear, so I'm assuming it was way low on compression when I bought it... hopefully this will wake 'er up.
  14. Just cleaned the filter, actually I also cleaned out the carb, although it looked clean enough. Plugs are a dark brownish color, so I'm assuming the jetting's at least close. I'm gonna get a comp tester and check the compression tomorrow or monday... talked to a guy who works on 2 strokes and he thought it might be either the rings or pistons, which I'm hoping it's not, but I wouldn't be surprised... obviously the rings would be the lesser of the two evils though. The engine basically revs a lot more slowly than it should, and when it gets to about 3/4th throttle, it almost acts like it would if it was hitting a rev limiter, it'll just hit that point and hold there even if the throttle's all the way in. Thanks for replying
  15. I've just noticed that in the past couple days, my Banshee hasn't been running right. The powerband's absolutely not there, it seems to rev really slowly, and it won't rev beyond about 3/4th throttle. I'm running mixed pump gas/racing fuel (114 mixed with 87) and this is my second tank of it... it ran fine through the first tank of mixed, so I wouldn't think that'd be the problem, and also since it ran okay through that batch, I wouldn't think that the jetting would be a problem either. All I did with the carb was adjust the idle. Do you think that I should still have the jetting adjusted, or do you think the mixed gas is the problem? Any help is appreciated.
