And I agree with Tyler (I think he said it) 100% if your porting to save money then your wrong and ass backwards. It's costly and time consuming. And your not going to hit the nail on the head the first time... All the "pro builders" did start somewhere but it's also been YEARS of trial and error and testing.

I agree with self porting as a hobbie, I have invested close to 10k in all my porting stuff. Mainly my 7k compressor. I've been porting since day 2 when I first got my quad I tore the top end off, talk about a mess of a port job. Lol I was 9 or 10, 23 now and still learning daily. When some of these builders offer ANY kind of advice take it and write it down because there sharing not only personal experience but proven techniques. And for the guy that said something about 2pac changed his fuel pump while tattooing 50cent I get what your saying just a "odd" way of putting it. Could of just said... I do all my own mechanical work. Lol jk

X2 get yourself a good manual, regardless you are going to want to tear down to see what happened, just cause its unlocked doesn't make it runable. Rip it apart, inspect fix if you try runnin it may cost you 5x as much

That's a good size swingarm for the dunes here, make sure your pipes have silencers with sparkys (something make shift just to get trough gate, I had a sparky I just stuck on with a clamp and pulled off once out there). Trans I would go with a 2-5 n down, I would shoot for 14 stags 22" on a 8in rim. Gearing you are going to have to go out there and just play with it make sure you bring a few gears because every weekend is going to change sometimes 300ft sometimes 800ft. I always run a no link marvin setup to my weight. make sure you run a thumb throttle out there.

Ive always ran vp m1, my personal experience is it seems more consistant, never noticed diffrence in power and you get a fancy jug with it. I read somewhere its like a 1% increase. I buy it for peice of mind that i kno exactly what im getting. I also am from mi and pay $29 for 5 gallons, comes out to just under 6 bucks a gallon, still half the cost as race fuel, and 2$ more then if i go to local race shops and pump my own.

X2 Get carbs setup for alky w/ powerjet, check everything over compression, squish. Make sure you do a few plug chops and see how the alky is burning, and have fun once you go alky you will never go back,
