Hey man check this link out Here, It's helped me alot in setting up my carb.. Just bought a few needles to messa around with and its only getting better.
-
Are your floats adjusted correctly? It should still start with the 25 pilots in there. Does it start fine with the choke pulled out?
-
One of my header pipes stick out more than the other and that was with my old T5's and now the DMC's.. I think its normal.
-
How do you know your lean? What size are you running now?
-
Damn thats ugly!! Sucks it happed.. GL on the rebuild. btw did you get my pm from yesterday?
-
How did it run after you changed out the needle?

Here's the deal.. Along with our motor rebuilds (son and I) I put a new F.A.S.T clutch in and while doing so I used thread lock on the nut adjuster. Clutch seemed perfect (thanks for the great clutch jeff) until today while doing some jetting runs.. On my last run before putting it away I was slowly loosing pressure/return of my lever and within seconds lost the pressure (arrows no longer aligning with case and arm). I figured it was the nut that came off cause it had happened to my sons bike before he used loc tite, but after letting it sit for a few minutes and idle while I thought about the situation I had my clutch back! Could it be something else or did the screw that the nut locks onto vibrate itself back in giving me pressure? It just threw me off seeing that I lost the clutch pressure and then it came back after letting it sit.. Anyone seen this? I'm sure and hoping its the adjustment nut but wanted to check with you guys.

I'm looking for a VF3 reed cage in good condition. One of mine has some meat missing and its causing a little too much air to get through. I only need the cage itself, let me know!

2 into 1 jetting for a 38mm airstriker
RIPRuck replied to RIPRuck's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
Forgot to mention with the above mods I'm running +4 timing.. Going to order a couple of pilots, needles and mains today to have something to work with. Anyone else have any experience with the airstriker carbs? Thanks for your help Snop, i'll go down to a 50 or 48 pilot and try it out. Going from stock carbs to this airstriker is a totally new beast.. -

Should I just do a plug chop with the way it is now or richen the needle, grab a smaller pilot and then do the chop? -

Hey guys.. I just finished my build this past weekend and did a few heat cycles and slow runs for the break-in. Today I went to start it, pulled the choke up (temps 45 deg) and kicked it over with the first kick and it started revving high! I shut it down, put the choke down/off and kicked it and it started right up and idled the way it should. Motor has a fresh top end with port and wanted to know if I should be worried about the motor revving out while being cold? Here's the list of motor mods.. NOSS head w/20cc domes aggressive trail port vforce 3 reeds trinity 2 into 1 intake 38mm airstriker carb DMC 916 exhaust 93 octane mixed 32:1 w/bel ray 195 main 52 pilot 2 turns out sea level I'm thinking I should be at a smaller pilot seeing that I have a slight bog at take off. I turned the air screw out to 2.5 turns out and it helped a little but think thats too high. Would the too large of a pilot cause it to rev higher when the choke is being used? When I pull the choke up while the bike is idleing it starts to rev higher.

No it only revved for 5 sec tops..

When I pull the choke up while the bike is idleing it starts to rev higher. Questions are if the cold rev hurt anything and if the pilot sounds like its too large.. I know the jetting question should be in that forum but my main concern was with the motor revving while cold which is the reason for posting here.

You think T5's sound good, you need to hear the DMC 916's! I sold my T5's for the 916's and couldnt be happier with the riding I do. They are both great pipes though..
-
What type of riding do you do? Pro circuits are actually good pipes!

Just split the cases.. you'll see whats going on with that arm cause its prolly mangled. You can still split the cases with it in there and then inspect it. -
I went with Kevin at Herr Jugs.. Just finished putting the motor tegether and should be running it this weekend so I'll give an update then. The detail on the port work looks fantastic, my jugs came back looking great with outstanding lines. I'm sure I'll be going with Kevin again!

We are talking about the trinity 2 into 1 correct? If so than I think he's talking about the o'ring type gasket where the intake mates to the single carb boot. As far as I know a reed cage casket will not fit there. I'm using reed cage gaskets where the intake mates to the reeds and to the cylinders. The intake boot mates with an o'ring which I coat with a thin layer of 1211.

You forgot about the boost bottle!
-
I just got in a front and rear new set of Razr 2's and these things look like they can cause some damage to the trails and who ever's behind me!
-
Yes the three bond 1211 is white and very manageable.. Used it yesterday for my whole motor rebuild and applied it almost everywhere due to some imperfections on my cylinders and whatnot. My son and I used Hondabond last week for his build and that stuff was messy and hard as hell to remove for mistakes. Will see how the 1211 seals when I crank this baby for the first time.

Check and make sure the plastic gear that attaches to the water pump impeller is still intact. That gear meshes with the outter gear attached to the crank, so if you just take off the water pump cover and somehow crank the motor the impeller should spin. If it doesnt than the plastic gear is shot and you would have to remove the clutch cover to get to it.
