I was thinking about running engine ice this time around since i dont have any fluid in my bike... My only question is i do have a small amount of regular (preston) coolant in the jugs. Would it be a bad idea to change over to engine ice with that still in the jugs? Another stupid question . Where can you buy it? i was at kragen and the yamaha store and looked around quick and didnt see any.\ Thanks

Thanks for hooking it up the a arms, i appreciate the quick send!!!!!!!!!!!! Cant wait to use them at Dumont! Jamie

Mine doesnt, it fits pretty nice under the gas tank (like tighter up against the bottom) , Goes right through the center of the carbs. Wont hit if you still have your TORS either

I dont have an aftermarket head.... yet  . Thanks to this site i will be getting a cool head soon  . Especially riding at dumont in the summer months, gonna come in handy.

The only thing i have to get is the metal gasket right, on the stock head there are no o rings... those are just on the aftermarket cool heads? Just wanna make one trip and pull it off once. This site is great, i would be pretty lost without reading these forums... and its a good way not to study for calc  As long as it was a ligitimate question, and i already have some sort of an answer... dont worry about jacking my thread  Thanks all!

I pulled off my head to have a look inside the motor because it was out and i wanted to see inside and make sure nothing was scraping and such. So i took the head off then 5 minutes later i put it back on, but put a small layer of pyrex on it to help it seal a little better. Then torqued it in the bolt pattern 25lbs each. My question is, should anything have changed by me just pulling the head off? Should i buy a new head gasket (motor is in the bike now, but i can still do it) It ran fine before, should anything be different now? Here is the pic, i dont know much about atv engines, but if they are anything like car engines then i should be good. Just to double check for stock heads, they use the metal gasket which is on the top of the jugs in the pic? Also when the head was already tightened down and i had just put it back into the bike, there was a little bit of anti-freeze that was on the top of the exhaust flange thing (the left side in the pic, where your pipes actually connect into) Any advice is appreciated, Jamie

hahaha. jay and silent bob and grandparents dont mix (or any of the movies that we happen to like nowadays).... My grandfather did go see clerks 2 tho, he went through the WW2 and is the only one of my grandparents that enjoy crude humor as much as i do

He did a plug chop, you do it to determine how rich/lean your bike is running, and then you can rejet from there

anyone ever use redline or golden spectro? a buddy of mine keeps on telling me to try them out ... im not too inclined tho. I like the klotz.. Wanted to know if anyone had experience.

What should I use to clean my pipes?

Stuff called Semi-chrome, its a chrome polish. It gets dirt and tarnish out of chrome parts. Ive used it on my banshee and my 66 Nova, makes the parts shine and actually protects them. It comes in a yellow and reddish box. Check All parts, thats where i buy mine from. -
Would a TORS eliminator kit help at all? I dont know much about the carbs and throttle (so please dont bash on me for the idea)

Removing Front Hubs From Spindles

i had to use a puller... we have them for our classic cars so it wasnt a problem for me... you can get a cheep one a kragen or someplace like that. Beats screwing something up trying to take a shortcut -
Its pretty tricky, big difference between the two. My buddy has a twist on his shee and he let me ride it. It blows hard in the whoops (might be because i havent ridden a twist throttle before) but the combination of hanging on and giving it STEADY gas isnt that much fun. Its pretty much preference tho. Im sure if you tried it out you could get used to it

I was having the same problem deciding on what color to pc my frame also. i looked through the whole thread about showing members bikes (65 pages) in the images section and came across a bike with a darker grey metallic frame. I also am keeping my stock blue plastics and i thought that it would look really good with them and chrome. I dont have a pic or anything and i dont know what your time frame of getting your bike pc'ed is, but i can post some pics when i get it back a week from now
-
LOL, thats what i figured, thanks for the replies guys. I have decided to POR-15 the a arms, its the closest thing to powdercoat, but you brush it on. One more question, for those of you who have pc'ed your frame (where the steering stem connects) and hubs... how do you go about removing the rubber inside them? it looks like it would be pretty straight foward but i dont want to try it and damage something. Theshee, i will pm majicmike because i also saw the YFZ frame and really liked his work.
-
Hey quick question, can you powdercoat the stock a arms? Im getting my whole frame done and i was wondering if i would be able to. I dont know if there is plastic inside, but im a little worried about the rubber boot... i would hate to get them back and not be able to use them ::

BansheeKid15 replied to theeechozen1's topic in Riding and Events Forum
me and some buddies have trip planned for th weekend of the 26-30 but we will be coming up on the 25th. There will be about 6 of us coming up (2 banshees, 1 raptor 700, yfz 450 (480 or something like it), raptor 660 (actually stroked 720) and a 400 ex (brand new 440 kit). Maybe we will see some of you guys out there if your staying for a little while?... -
Also, what kind of prep work do you have to do to chrome a arms? Will the chroming process make the ball joints weaker or destroy them completely? I have not had any experience with chroming anything before, so any information will be appreciated. thanks
