bigboybanshee always has some good advice and he pretty much hit the nail on the head on this thread. I hope we can meet up sometime! I'm planning on travelling for the Wicked Motorsports race in Oct. in Albany, GA. We got our new motor together and tested it this past weekend. It makes the other motor look like a slug! LOL, Bryan

Jeff, we are very good friends with Ted and we buy a butt load of your clutches and other parts. Bryan

You are right on bigboybanshee, I provided the facts and Dirtwheels came up with the title. I know it's not that fastest and it took a lot of hard work to get it there. Here's something else that just happened and it went a long way to promoting ATVs. This ocuured purely by being in the right place at the right time. Here's the race we participated in the past two days. Pontiac Pro Stock Showdown and Pacific National Open. Sorry to say my son went red on the tree in 1st round eliminations. I understood why, with the group of professional racers that were on the starting line with us. We were lucky enough to have Bob Glidden on the starting line with us for both runs Sat. Boy did he have a big smile on his face when our quad launched off the starting line. 1st round of eliminations we had Kurt Johnson, Jeg Coughlin and Bob Glidden to name a few on the line. There was quite a group of high profile personnel to say the least. I think my 17 year old son was pretty amped up when he staged. He ended up going -.035 on the pro light. He didn't know who Bob Glidden was (LOL), but he sure knew everyone else on the starting line. I wish I would have had our camera on the starting line!!! Bryan

I've ran in the 7s in the 1/4 mile and I'll tell you what. Our Banshee sure is a lot more fun to take down the track. Yes, I said Banshee that's what it is and is not even close to your analogy of John Force's "Mustang is a Mustang". You have your opinion just like everyone else, but our quad is typical of any Banshee on the Westcoast. "When I comsider a world fastest banshee, Id think of stock cyls, swinger with a wheelie bar and stock frame maybe lightened." We ran 10.90s with stock ported cylinders, stock cases, +8" arm with stock link, the quad weighed 354lbs. and my son and I go 200llbs. plus. The only changes now is the cub cylinders. "But where do you draw the line on whats a banshee?" I don't draw the line on what's a Banshee. You come to our state, NV. and the neighboring states and our Banshee is typical of what's being used except for the height, tires and the solid rear strut. We can easily change tires, add a marvin shaw rear shock and gearing; and ride the dunes like everyone else out hear does. Bryan

OK guys, let me clarify the article in Dirtwheels. I own the quad and it was built for my son. The basic information was provided to the magazine. As with any form of media they have to make or promote drama out of it. I did not give it the title, Dirtwheels did. I know of faster Banshee based 1/4 mile quads and one of them is a 358 cub and one is a 710 DM. My money is the 358 cub for being one of the fastest. The 9 sec quad you have refered too is somewhere around 1,000 cc and with nitrous if I'm not mistaken. Now, for you people that think 10 seconds is easy to accomplish! Come and get some, we will be glad to show you how it's done. There are very few people that know how to make a 2-stroke survive for the that kind of distance and we have 350+ 1/4 passes to back it up. Bryan

I didn't mean to say you were doing something wrong. That product isn't designed by FAST racing, it's designed and used in a production Yamaha motorcycles. It has been adapted to and used very sucessfully in the ATV market with high HP quads with the proper set-up. Many people use these clutches with no problems and it's very easy to blame a product or person. I found in most of my drag racing years. Most mistakes or mis-application of parts are directly attributed to the user. We don't always want to admit we are wrong and sometimes we don't even realize it, until a later date. Bryan
-
Sorry, but you have done something wrong. We run the clutch from Jeff @ FAST on our 443 cub on 1/4 mile asphalt. We slip the shit out of it on the start and have about 50 runs on our current clutch. If you have it set-up right with the proper maintenance it will not give you problems. Bryan

Sounds good, pm me for my information if you don't have it. Pinks was pretty cool, but I wouldn't travel out of town for it. Bryan

I'm still kicking and willing to help anyone with the asphalt. Forgive me if I don't reconize the screen name, but are you the Bansheedr also? Bryan

I made the visor mistake once! 1st run on our 1/4 quad, just past the 1/8 mile it tried to peel my head off backwards. I managed to get my head back down and completed the run with my chin buried in my chest. I guess I underestimated how fast our quad would go. It ran well over 100 mph on the 1st run and has been almost 116 mph since. Bryan

I am interested in asphalt drags. 1/4 mile.

OK, been drag racing for many years and all the top runners use all the gears. They try and hit peak hp rpm 300'-400' before the finish line for best ET. The problem is for the 1/8 mile is with the steep gear it causes traction issues. As for the 1-4 overrides, we will go to the 1-6 when we can afford it. They were not very dependable or people didn't know how to use them in the past. We always tend to carry a little wheel speed when we run the 1/4 mile and is probably needed for the 1/8. Our best 60' has been 1.46, best 1/8 mile 6.40, best 1/4 mile 10.82 and highest mph 115.99. Bryan -

A full override is the way to go, but when we built the quad 6 speed overrides were not that reliable. Bryan -

The ignition kill allows it to work without harming the transmission when using an air shifter. We have a 1-4 override and 5 & 6 are manual. We use an ignition kill for the last 2 gears. We have about 300 runs without a trans failure. Bryan -

I forgot to add we run with the motorcycles and snowmobiles. They sometimes allow to run with cars when they don't know about the rules. Bryan -

60" measured from front spindle centerline to rear axle centerline. Wheelie bar cannot exceed the the wheel base and is measured from the axle centerline to wheelie bar wheel axle centerline. Bryan -

Yes, without the clutch, but you need an ignition kill. AKA 1700camaro -

You have got some very good advice and a very good tip was from Bigboybanshee. Check with your local tracks before even starting your project. We have ran many tracks (IHRA & NHRA) over the past 4 years. I always call a new track before going, some will let you run and some will not. We are built to the strictest rules (NHRA), but they mainly enforce the leather jacket, boots, glove, proper snell rated helmet, kill lanyard and chain guard. I think most don't enforce all of them because of their ignorance of the rules. If it was my quad, I would build it to the NHRA's rules. Even though they are restrictive, we have ran 10 seconds in the 1/4 with their rules. AKA 1700camaro -
We have done it that way, but we now have it in the reed valve spacer and that's the way we prefer it.

I know you have all heard it before, but Jeff at F.A.S.T Racing. Thank-You for your OUTSTANDING customer support/service. I called him today to follow-up on clutches I had ordered Fir. 30 Mar. He only had one set that day and said he would get both sets out Mon. He sent them Mon. and took the time to reassure me they would be here this week. This kind of service is what is needed for the ATV market, enough said. Thanks Again, Bryan from Las Vegas

10.80s on a 443 cub with all the goodies with alky and 10.90s on a 417 stock cylinders with the same goodies no power adders. Alll the motor parts and pipes are from Trinity Racing, but according to some on here Trinity don't know their shiitt. My friend runs a 358 cub on gas and puts down the serious numbers at 10.50. The mods really don't matter it's the tuning, suspension, clutch and gearing.

10.80s @ 114 1/4 mile and 6.70s 1/8 with 1/4 mile gearing. I've got a good friend in Ohio running 10.50s @ 119 in the 1/4 mile.
