  1. I like to use both the cryo'd steel & aluminum. The thing I found about the Barnett's was the coating smeared & fucked up the frictions when they were new. Once broken in, I don't have a problem with them. Are they worth the money, heck I don't know. I do know they last a long time. That coating is still on them damn plates. You might try calling them on the CF frictions, they should sell you just the frictions.
  2. I don't have enough runs with the spring loaded basket to base an opinion on it. Hands down, I'll take the Barnett Basket over anything else out there. The stainless steel inserts prevent the grooving in the basket.
  3. I was going to test the quad tonight, but decided to race it in points tomorrow & maybe Sun. The T&T was $35 & to race is $40. Justin is on vacation & not racing. So, maybe I can take some of his competitor's out this weekend. Plus, get the testing done on the Multi-stage set-up. I will also be racing the Camaro, racing 2 classes should keep me busy.
  4. The boys set it up with spare parts on hand. We normally run a Barnett basket with Barnett or Hinson cushions.
  5. Back on the subject, LOL! Anyway, the only dates I'm considering is Labor Day weekend Sept. 4-6. The planned track is Ubly Dragway in Ubly, MI. They are running Fri.- Sun. The back-up track is Friendship Raceway in Smithfield, OH., but they are only running Sept. 5 & 6. Like I said, the only reason I got back on the quad is to race Tedder or our buddy Jimmy from TX. I have also considered one other HQ member, but he seems to be missing in action. Nothing against the other Member's that expressed interest in coming. I hope the race happens & I get to meet you all. Seeing I'm travelling 1,900+ miles one way. I need one of the above 3 to say yes or no, by June 27. There's no reason for me to haul that far to race by myself.
  6. Yep, but I did a quick search. I'm not using old/used parts. I think Robinson Industries made them in Billet, but I'm not paying the big price tag. Anyway, while setting up the clutch system today. I'm sure I found the problem. I found 2 broken clutch frictions. This was a new clutch with less than 30 passes. Usually there's a cause for this & I think I found that too. Looks like it's time for a new spring loaded Hinson basket. I don't know if I can just get the basket alone or have to buy it as a set with primary gears.
  7. Our quad race weight is in the high 300 lb. range. It's a good chassis, but out dated. Everyone is really keying on weight reductions. One bike even had no brake system! Yes, PSDA addressed that one. We, you & other's saw that problem coming with the lack of rules.
  8. It's getting quicker! We still have some work to do with this motor & set-up. 1st it needs to get on a dyno & 2nd we need a different chassis. The chassis is 80 - 90 lbs. heavier than most.
  9. We go back on the May 15th for testing. As for the problem, we will never totally get rid of the bog. It just happens some times, but we try to minimize it. It's just the nature of the beast running 1/4 mile with a 2 stroke quad. This is a new combo with less than 30 runs. Running/launching a quad with a 18/37 (2.05 ratio) is not an easy task. There was some mods I normally do, that the boy's didn't do when they set this thing up. Plus, we were trying some new things. We were also not doing something's we normally did in the past. We are going back to what we know worked in the past, with minimum problems. I will try & share the list of changes when we get a handle on this.
  10. I talked with Angel Wed. evening & he's making headway with the DMX. We picked up over a tenth an half in ET & 9 mph over our best previously. He's trying to get the right tires on it to get it to hook. Plus, he was changing the gearing over to launch in 2nd gear instead of 1st.
  11. Yes we have & the jetting didn't help, but I haven't cut the threads off to see if we're still lean. I'm putting in the multi-stage lock-up & doing some other mods to the clutch system that this set-up didn't have.
  12. Glad you enjoy! I can't keep up with Tyler though, you must like him too. I've done plenty in my racing career. I just like to rub a little in peoples noses in the HQ Circus. According to some on here, I have nothing but junk. I'll take all my shit race vehicles over all the Naysayer's junk. Now, if you or anyone else don't like it. So What! Put me on ignore & stop reading.
  13. Thanks for your opinion! I'm sure the 2.05 final ratio is not helping the matter. I may need to change my 1st gear ratio. It seems like the faster we get. The more this thing is get finicky with the clutch & I'm sure it's heat related. We may just need to slow the bike down & find a nice comfortable race set-up. I'll post up the changes in the lock-up thread or resurrecting the 1/4 mile bike thread. Plus, I'm changing over to the rat poison race gas next time.
  14. I hope to hear some decent numbers from the DMX. Justin qualified #1 today & lost in the 2nd round. We are having clutch problems, after 3 or 4 runs. The clutch gets tight and bogs. I'm tearing the clutch apart & probably installing the Multi-Stage, but I would like to find the cause of this problem. I'm going out to test the changes in 2 weeks, hopefully.
  15. That's OK, I posted your answer last night.
  16. Here's a pic, if you look real close I was sporting my new BHQ T-shirt underneath my jacket.
  17. Heeee......Heeeee! The Hoopty/Demo Camaro wins with the old man driving. After taking 2nd place on the last points race. I was on a mission this points race. Should be setting really good in the points!
  18. Hate to tell you non believer's, that I didn't have any problems testing tonight. Made a real easy low 4 sec run to the 330' mark. Came back on the second run & made a nice fast full 1/4 mile run. I made a total of 3 runs & Justin made 3 runs. This old man is still fast, just need to knock a few cob webs off to get faster.
  19. I forgot, Tedder is buying me that Steak dinner tonight that he owes me from getting beat by the Demo/Hoopty Camaro.
  20. Thanks J-Madd! The bike is ready to be fired tonight. Leaving Sat. morning no time for Dyno. Still have a few small details to work out.
  21. That's a big negative! Anyway, just got home from lunch & beers with Tedder & Wife. Talked a little bit about our grudge race. Nothing set it stone, I'm basing my decision on my test hits Fri. If I'm not comfortable, I will stay retired from riding.
  22. Only looking at Labor Day Weekend now. This old man is getting back on the seat with test hits this Fri.
  23. I have to thank Green for bringing up/asking if the motor was lean. He hit the nail on the head. While it may or may not be the cause of our issues. I'm sure it's contributing to them. Thanks Again! Here's one of the plugs. The idle/low speed area tan is darker than being shown in picture. It's richer than we prefer. The mid range is lean, but we don't pay much attention to that. We are either at low speed or wide the fuck open. The high speed area shows a more distinct yellow than shown. Along with a light/faint & too narrow grey fuel ring. We had 185 mains & went to 188s to correct the issue.
  24. Thanks, I'll have to chat with Angel to see how he has it set-up.
  25. Angel is the one dealing with them & I think he's has used them before. Any suggestions would be appreciated, if you would like to share.
