Ok I havent found out how to get my mods to post on the page so Ill put them in here.. The engine is stock, PC platinum pipes, vforce reeds, 300 mains, k'n filter with top off, 15 tooth sprocket, high flow impeller, in line cooler, +4 timing plate. These are all my bolt ons... I could probably afford 200 tops or close to it, but if it is something that should be done while I have it open then I can make exceptions, I can always justify spending on this.... Big problem!! lol Oh yeah, I like trail riding but want to do some dune riding.. I dont want to loose any dependability.

So I have recently cracked my case which has brought me to take apart my engine, something I havent even gotten close to on a banshee before, but thank god for BHQ and my clymers. It has never been rebuilt and is totally stock. I know that this is a great time to do a couple of mods and rebuilds to spruce her up a bit. I am going to get my crank welded and trued for sure and maybe going with another aftermarket piston? Any suggestions of what could be done or should be done while I have it opened up?

Ok so I have a stock engine, (pistons, crank, head) I have not done any engine work since Ive had it.. It is a 2000 and sad to say hasen't been ridden alot in the last 5 years. Only a handfull of times. One of the replys says that the wesco pistons need more clearnce?? So I cannot just replace my stock pistons with wesco or other? I am plannig on welding my crank also..

how do you true the weld? I got a guy that is very experienced that could help me... How do you know its trued?

Anyone know a welder in the west LA area that can weld a crank?? Around how much will they run??

Didnt know if that was a solution... While I have it apart is there and other mod that I can do that will not break the bank? Also my reeds have small gaps from the cage to the reed. Do they need to be replaced or can they be reversed? I was hoping to get it fixed quick but I cant get the parts quick enough so I might as well check out other options.

Opinion needed... should I look to buy whole case or can I just buy the bottom?? I talked to one person and they said that you want to buy the whole thing because they will match up? Does the case change shape over time???????? Can the case be welded together?

found lower case for cheap but ad says that the engine broke a rod and it marked the case some... is this just cosmetics or will it effect the performance?

Ok so it looks like the kick starter unit did it... on the shaft there is a metal piece that stops the shaft from turning past a certain point.. well that piece is what broke the case. it must have wound up and released when I was rolling backwards? Can anyone tell me what needs to be replaced when I change the case? Do I need to get new seals and gaskets?

[i think it has something to do with the kick starter gear and shaft.. the quad ran after that. I rode it home while it slowly leaked oil. the cracks are behind the kick starter shaft. I think it is only the bottom case that cracked but ill have to check. I have the engine out now, cylenders off and in the house.. Ill take some pics soon.. Any idea of things to do and not to do while I am doing this?

Ok so I finally got out to ride after my registration fiasco! It was running great, I went to climb a hill and it stalled at the top.. I decided to let it roll down backwards cause I know what happens when you turn the wheels going backwards. It picked up a little speed and then I must have either let go of the clutch or it slipped into gear. I heard a crack looked down and saw my gear oil leaking!! I looked at the side case, it was cracked but I thought this was the only piece. Got it home and when I took it apart I saw that the case cracked!! not just from the outside (inside of the cover) but on the inside of the case!! I noticed that the gear that the starter engages with had a chunk taken out so I moved the starter counterclockwise. The starter gear slides all the way PAST the second gear! SO I know I need a new case, dont know how hard it is going to be to change it, but anyone have any thoughts if there might be more broken pieces when I split the case? First time riding it in 3 years! Oh yeah anyone have a case they want to sell for cheap! :sad:

I have checked out all the post on this topic but have not been able to find some info on a digital unit.. I want to instal a digital probe in the exit line from the head. I have seen some units on the web but not the one I want. They all have a small flat screen with a long thin wire for the thermometer itself. But the probe is too long , about 4 inches... Anyone know of other digital units??

Cool, I just got my spark arrestors installed. Did a rig job! Got the stickers on also. Just haveto get it registered which will happen next Monday. Im down to ride at El Mirage when you guys are!! When do you think you might go? I usually have off during the week..

What I meant to ask was.. can I only use the outerwares in totally dry conditions or do they keep some water out? What does everyone do if they go riding in an area with water??

any gains to be had by switching my single k'n filter for the dual ones that clamp to the carbs directly? I was going to buy them but now I am thinking about moding my air box like above. I would just need to buy the outerware.. -
I havent gotten out yet. Probably next Monday or tuesday... I work in the restaurant industry so m off days are usually midweek. Ill go anywhere I can to ride! Any suggestions? I was thinking about going to el mirage lake first just to get it out so I can do some adjustments to the carbs... I havent riden it since up in PA on a frozen lake.

So I readjusted the pickup, its close and looks good, lights strong. I readjusted the timing and even wehnt down on jets but it is still bogging down. Idles finebut nothing else... any help??

OK I got them!! called and talked to the parts guy.... thhey do not make them for PC pipes but I have no doubt that I can modify them... I was worried that he was not going to sell them to me since I would have to modify them and there for they would be void..... \\buuut I got them in the mail! $15 and change for one set.. I think I might keep the reciept to show proof also..... Ill take pics to show how I mod them.... Thanks for the help guys!
