R50 dont mix with methonal... so I'm leaning towards Gas.
Oil is user preference... Everyone I race with uses Klotz supertech because it stays in suspension in colder temps with methonal. When I was using gas, I used R50 and castor 927. No problems. When I first switched to alky I used Benol. I've since switched to Redline oils.
You would have noticed alot bigger gains on a bigger built motor. Good reeds on stock cages is usually suffecient for the average play motor. The VF's really start to shine on the big motors and drag ports.
Whats your elevation and temps out that way?
Clutch slippage was my biggest problem. Had to add a ton of weight to the locker.
No problems with my trans. (110hp+) 2nd gear is weak.. but I think stock 2nd is good up to 120ish . But I do agree.. The weakest link in a big HP motor (besides the clutch) that isn't caused from user error is the 2nd gear...
I'd start out with 162 mains, 55 pilots, DEK needle 4th clip.
I didn't see who ported your motor though.. maybe someone with similar porting could chime in.
But thats what I ran my stock cylinder 4mil with in Silver lake, Jetted for 75-80ish
Yeah.. I had the set with the flanges.. and they were close to 3" maybe only 2-2.5" but... they seemed like they were a mile long... To each their own. His bike.. his money.. I didn't say not too buy them.. I just think they looked goofy is all.
Yep.. I agree. Stay away from the coils... I've always used grease on the end to help collect the shavings.. But.. thats with taps.. never used one of the self tapping plug jobbies..
I would just go to the hardware store and by some chrome flange nuts... The Acorn style nuts might not be a good idea. If the nuts dont have the right depth for the studs, they could bottom out and not tighten down.
I've ran casted pistons in a few of my dune motors with no problems. I've only used Pro-X for the casted pistons.
I've used WSM pistons also.. I dont see them changing port timings..
Only the Hills are directional.. which makes sense so people dont get killed. Yeah.. the dunes are relatively small (3,000 acres 450 for ORV use) compared to the western dunes.. but its better then nothing!
I call BS on both of these.......
1. It will cost ALOT of money to get a stock cylinder bike to make the same power as a 421 cub. Not saying it can't be done.. but.. it wont be cheaper! Been down that road. The port work alone will be well over 1k. (welded transfers and triple exhaust ports from a well known builder)
2. There is no way you can guarantee that no 421 cub will touch bigreds 4mil stocker.. I'm sorry.. thats just flat out BS right there..... Will it beat some 421's?... Sure it can.. I see it everday... Will it beat all of them?? Highly unlikelly...
I got some front brake calipers and front master cylinder.. Just need brake lines. Also got some stock crabs with tors removed.. just need new dump tubes. Let me know Dan.. You know I'll make you a sweet deal if your interested.
EDIT: I just remembered I got front brake lines too.. and I think I have some .190 douglas fronts.
