Cool.....tons of good advice. I appreciate you guys helping a brother out. I accually called Allen out in alpine at Fox racing.......Great guy to talk to and was able to make me feel good about taking me SHEE out to him. He said he's been doing this for about 26 some years.......comes second nature to him....haha anyhow hell of a guy and after the Shee get's "seen" i'll let you guys know how it turns out........thanks again fellas!

What's new fellas? Just wanted to know who has experience with shops in the San Diego area doing motor work.......i want to find a good shop, where i can put my head together with the owner and the techs there and make some serious power. I want to stay local to the Saqn Diego area...not interested in traveling to far for this type of thing.....wanna be able to get it right the first time and have it tuned right......catch my drift......tough to find a great shop who wants to interact with the customer out here......not like small town U.S.A. where i'm from.......

hey big guy can you send me a few pictures of the haulers and the rims.......how long have they been on the bike????

Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask this question but i searched and couldn't get it to come up. Anyhow i am looking to put new wheels for the dunes all the way around on the Shee and i was wonderiing what type of offset i can run up front to get some extra width out there. I have an all stock front suspension but didn't want to go to big or miss out on some easy handling upgrades with wheels......i think i'm going to go with the ITP C-series in black powdercoat......but style doesn't really matter right now just some offset ideas. Thanks!!!

I am very intersted in porting my Shee......i have been doing some research and trying to get the best setup for my riding. This sounds like something i would love to do. Document the entire process and write a review with the dyno tests and everything........please put my name on your list i would do it in a heart beat.

AHHHH yes....the one cylinder firing issue. How long had the bike been sitting before you got it? if it had been sitting for a while then check and see if you are even getting fuel flow to the right side carb......pull off the fuel line where it goes into the carb.......flip on the fuel in main and see if it flows.....the bike does not need to be running just see if you got flow.....if not then flip it to reserve and see what you have......it takes fuel air and spark to make it all happen....make sure you got all three first then we'll dig deeper........good luck let me know what you find out.

you might want to try checking your idle settings.....those big screws on top of the carbs are to adjust that idle setting. they aren't really that tight and you could have got them out of wack....turn them all the way "IN" until the seat slightly and then back them both out about 3 full turns.....start the bike up and see where your idle is at....you can adjust it right there with the seat off till it sounds about right...then raaaap that bad boy out....if it gets better then you can fine tune it....you see?

Ok.....i'm not a total dummy......i have a single K+N with outerwear.....no lid on the box....i installed 310 main jets, toomey t-6 pipes and silencers, and the toomey needle with the air screw 1 1/2 turns out......rode it all this past season in the dunes and loved it......learned a lot and am ready to step it up a notch......so the cool head with 20cc domes and a 4 degree timing advance will be my first step for this offseason.....i'm going to do the impellar also while i'm in there....and have boonman lighten my flywheel and do the shift star.......then maybe later in the season this year i'll do the reeds or something like that.....i'll keep you all posted. thanks for the input.......
-
Ok i get the jist if this deal here. so like i said before....i am for sure doing the cool head with the 20cc domes. Got that set in stone. My real toss up is what to do in addition to the cool head.....if you say that the porting is the batter and carbs are the icing......then i think i'm still setting the ingredients out on the counter.....hahaha not even close to a batter yet....haha i really appreciate your time explaining this stuff to me....i got the basics already just want to make educated decisions when it comes to my Banshee....i want solid reliable MODS...you know what i mean. So in your opinion what is the best line to take to compliment my cool head and 20cc domes.....advance the timing, and do the reeds.........or port and polish????? also i've been reading that i can increase main jet size from my 310 to 340 with the airbox removed and the dual K+N's for a nice increase........
-
i bought a kit off ebay for my wifes 400ex......it was every bolt just about that i would want to change.....even the bolts for the cases.....it was nice...all stainless bolts and i only payed $$75 shipped. can't remember who the company was but it was a factory direct kit.....these people only made bolt kits....i'll look for the name and get back to you
-
Ok no porting on the vforce3's......got it......so lets re-cap a little......the cool head is a given....dlnoss says 50/50 race gas pump gas mix with the 20cc domes and i'm good.......so here's my next question.......should i go with the timing advance and the bigger jets for a good power gain? Or should I go ahead and get the port job done......I know absolutly nothing about porting....what would i need to do to set up the bike if i got a dune port job...do i have to swap carbs. then? i would like to stay with the stock carbs for the time being.....so the other option is to get ported......do the cool head and re-jett.......i also would have to do some research about the engine shops around here to do the port job....don't want just anyone doing that work.....how much does that run?????for as dune setup?
-
200 shipped......you can do better than that right??? So i cannot port the cages on the v-3's or can i ?????
-
Got it.....most Banshee for your buck......HAHA anyhow i was also wondering about reed spacers.......are those even worth the money and also what about porting the reed cages.....if i go with the v-force 3's what would i be porting...they comer set up ready to go right??? do they come with there own cages or do you use the stock cages???? i could really increase airflow by porting those cages and putting on some decent reed spacers huh?
-
right right....4th groove got it....Now i know this is the wrong forum for this question but you mentioned the reeds...wihich is a better MOD for me to do then....the cool head and the timing advance with the lightened flywheel or do the reeds and skip the timing advance....just trying to get the most BANSHEE for my buck.....you know what i mean? Or screw it i could do all of them.......i'm pretty sure i could make all those happen for under $750 easy.....probably closer to 600......
-
i see said the blind man.....sounds like a plan.....340's with my toomey needle...i'll have to do a little messing around with the needle clips then i imagine.....how far did you adjust your needle when you bumped up to the 340's.....also did you change the pilot jet?????
