So is there no real chance of something happening without these on there? I was thinking about it but hesitant to just toss it. The guy I ride with said he wouldn't get rid of it. All I do is MX. What about the one between the wheel and hub? Do I need that one?

No answers from anyone? I though for sure someone would have posted again on this by now. sj820, no pics yet? I'm hopefully gonna be finishing up on my bike tonight or tomorrow so I'm hoping for an answer. Thanks in advance guys.

I'm actually just getting around to putting on my 450 calipers. (had them almost 2 months now) I was just test fitting them, but from what I could tell, I may have to cut or trim the inside brake shield, does this sound correct? I'm pretty sure on this, but I didn't wanna start hacking before I was sure on it. If anyone has some pictures that'd be awesome. And by the way, according to a local PRO racer, the Honda TRX450R master cylinder is the "ultimate" upgrade to your brakes as well, which I am doing. I will let you guys know how it all turns out, I should have it back to the track this next weekend.

I just ordered this from Rockymountain.. I'm pretty positive it's what I need. It looks exactly like it anyways.. http://www.rockymountainatv.com/productDet...95&navType=type I appreciate your help bro.

I've seen 660's with YFZ450 shocks, and we all know that Banshee's can have those as well. I've never tried the raptors, but are you sure it won't fit? My friend has a 660 with YFZ's, but I'm not sure about the year. Are the '05 660's different from the older models?

I just messaged the guy I bought it from and he thought the same thing. Is there anything else I may need? I already have to split rings, the sleeves on the outside of the axle and the castle nuts. I'm just nto familiar with this axle, and I can't really look at my stock stuff to see what I need, since it used splines instead of threads. Thanks.

I don't think I exlpained exactly what I"m needed help on.. ha Sorry guys I posted this late last night. The person I bought mine from appears to have stripped the lock nut. I need to order a new one but I don't know which one to get because if I"m reading correctly, the different Durablue axels have different nuts. I'm assuming you can't use the stock ones since they thread on, correct? I've never had my axle apart so I don't know much about the parts back there, I'll know soon though.. ha Thanx again guys..

I just ordered a 2+2 Durablue axle from ebay and I'm not sure what all parts I need. I do have the castle nuts and sleeves for the end. The main thing I'm confused on is the "posi-lock" nut. I think it may be different for which type of Durablue axle it is. (i.e. HD, Eliminator, etc.) I have no idea which type it is or how to tell. I couldn't get much help from the local shops since I didn't buy it from them. I just wanna make sure I order the right part to make this thing work. By the way, I did search and couldn't find anything. Thanx in advance guys Gene

I second the comment about using YFZ450 shocks. I love mine and for the money spent, they cannot be beat.

Yeh I was having trouble with their site also, that's why I posted here. I'm probably gonna be ordering some American Star Racing arms off of Ebay. I wouldn't normally be way cautious of this, but I know 2 guys with them and they seem nice and sturdy, plus lifetime warranty. I'm just kind of weary of sanddragon's site being down, plus new management. Anyways, thanks for the reply.

Just a quick question.. I've heard people here talk about Sanddragon Motorsports and how they make a-arms for Banshees with YFZ450 front shocks. I just wanted to know more about this setup and the quality and who is actually running it on their shee. If anyone has pics that would be nice as well. I am in the market to buy some a-arms and am having a hard time getting info on these. Thanx in advance. Gene

I MX my shee and I second the opinion on going with the 250R. Don't get me wrong, I love my shee, but if I knew then what I know now, I would have a YFZ450, period. Banshee's just beat your ass too much on the MX track and the newer 4-strokes are light years ahead of the ancient Banshee suspension. And as you may already know, the 250R is considered by some to be the ultimate MX quad b/c of it's suspension and frame geometry. I know that mine is far from a "full MX" banshee, but I know that I have a hell of a time hanging with YFZ's and 450R's with just basic upgrades. If they have aftermarket suspension, forget it. I hate to sound like a sell-out. I love my Banshee, but when i bought my bike, I wasn't into MX. Now that I am I just make the best fo what I have, not everyone can afford a new bike just because of a different riding style. Plus, a Banshee gets tons of attention when you're actually holding your own on the MX track.

well if that's the case, then someone needs to grow some balls. grind that shit off and make it work. I wasn't bitching at you, just in general this thread is getting repetitive. Let's not get in some big chat board fight so we'll stop here.
-
You don't have to grind anything on the lower half of the shock anyways. Just the rear lip off of the mount on the lower A arm. Read the pictures that started this thread and there should be no problems whatsoever. Some of you guys are asking the same questions over and over. I don't want to grind this.. blah Either be a man and grind some off to make it fit, or go spend $700+ and buy some aftermarkets that fit properly. Sorry to rant, but the "how-to" thread should have been stickied and locked a long time ago.
-
I can't speak from experience on this one, but I've heard not without modification. And also, a simple revalve of your rear shock should do the trick. Again, just from what I've read.
-
no problems yet..don't really anticipate any either
-
minimal..i basically made the tops flat instead of rounded. I was real scared to go too deep. It's really much easier than I anticipated. If you just sit down and start doing it, you'll figure it out. Just take off a little then keep going as needed.

I didn't grind anything at all from my upper frame/shock mount. I ground off slightly on the top of the shocks.. and works perfect. I did grind the lip off the rear of the mount on the a-arm (bottom). But aftermarket ones don't even have that lip, so that doesn't affect anything. I MX and am consistently jumping and beating on them and I've got nothing but good things to say about the setup.
-
Worked perfect for me..

I'm looking to buy a steering stem for my '05 Banshee. I don't care if it is stock or aftermarket, but aftermarket just depends on the asking price. I just need a guarantee that it is not bent. PM me or e-mail me at [email protected] Thanx.

I just installed the YFZ shocks on my shee last week, and I am 100% satisfied. I think that for the money you will spend, (in my case $200) and the time it takes, you cannot go wrong. I use my shee for MX and used to bottom out almost every jump if i didn't land it perfectly, but with the YFZ's, it soaks it up much more. I just wanted to post this for all the people who are in doubt about this set-up, it does work. Also, props to the guy who made this post and the "How-to", it is perfect and I second that it should be stickied.
