  1. No sir.... I'm having someone else cut me domes...which...I'm sure came from your stock or shelves at one time since they do plenty of business with you! I gotta get some cut for my motor, didn't mean to imply they were doing that for me.... Have you thought about making a 1 piece head Dave? I simply can't deal with the stud Orings on the two piece shells.
  2. No no...that's how you mill the head.... LOL...
  3. Hit the link in JT's post. It'll take you to a button to map it to....
  4. Roger...I'll call you before I get to Bob's...I'll tighten a spark plug and add fuel to it. I'll show up with your bike in the back of my truck, then I'll head back to your house to swap...hey...I brought it, right?? LOL That way, we're not paying for beer....LOL.... Hey...last time I checked you bring your jockey...keeping it in the family doesn't count....LOL
  5. Pretty sure you can count me in. 1.5 to 2 hour drive for me. That place is probably less than an Hour for Shayne O Mac....
  6. Or a little shot...AKA Dan.... :yelrotflmao: :yelrotflmao:
  7. I'd get the worked bike...for cheaper. If it's a solid bike and runs good...so it might need a top end? Even if it needed boring, fresh top end, etc., it still WAY cheaper. The only difference in these bikes is plastics and graphics colors, not like either bike left the factory any different than the other in that aspect. Almost 800 for a set of pipes?? Sheesh...you could buy three used sets in the states for that much.... You're going to spend more money on the new one to hop up once you get bored riding a stocker...why not start off ahead of the game...
  8. Guys...here is the real problem with that. Pipe A might work great for your bike, terrible for the next. No two bikes are exact, one is an apple, the other an orange. I think it was Ron Jeremy that said it best... "Different strokes for different folks..."
  9. Good point... I only let out one time last year, because the guy next to me f'd up his start...and he was WAY behind, and I didn't want to break out. I was supposed to have a bye run cause the guy I was supposed to race broke, but...the organizer wanted to run again and "sub" for him. I asked him if I won no matter what, even if I red lighted or broke out...he said NO...so, I just had to put it to him. After wards, he did say I would've taken the win no matter what, I think he was trying get in my head...LOL. If you grouped the dial in times to .5 second pairings, it would be fun to the finish IMO.... Another thing...we write our dial in times on our number plates. If we did away with that, it would eliminate some of the people playing the guessing game/sand bagging as well. It would be more work for the organizers...but not much!
  10. Those are some smoking deals...reded. If you decide to tear the motor down, I'd be interested in straight cuts and hinson spring basket...let me know. Good luck to ya...sounds like a potent mil!! Free Bump for ya...
  11. Let me know how much, turn around time...etc...JT. I'd be interested as well. It's my opinion that once you did that, had it repowder coated, fixed the angle on the steering, etc., it may be less work to build one. However, I am VERY interested in going 4 to 8 out the front of mine.... I like the black chrome NYUK did on one of his frames, that might be my next color....
  12. More handling, less shipping???
  13. There are quite a few guys that will be doing it. Tommy went rigid only, Hopper is going bigger, CJ is, Sean is, Scotty too hotty is, I think Scott Haulk is...Beezy already did... I realistically think we're gonna have 4 to 8 guys in the 3s on any given day at the track, if they all come out to play at once.
  14. yeah, I got knocked out once by a snowmobile...on sand. Yeah, not a snowmobile motor'd quad...but a snowmobile... In 300ft and sand, I don't think you see as much "sand bagging"--no pun intended--as you do on a quarter mile with cars. Things happen much faster....and there are alot more variables. The last race of the year, the gambler race...I think I ran a 4.36 to my 4.35 dial in, Ben ran a 4.3 something to his 4.25 dial in, and we both scratched our heads at the end until we pulled back in the pits to find out the winner. We were both just all smiles at the end, didn't matter who won....it was that close at the end....and all the way down the track. It's not the same as racing a 6 second quad and a 4 second bike. I think brackets should be arranged by either .5 or .75 second intervals....it makes for much better "heads up" style/feel of racing. 00...racing is racing, I go to have fun, I'll never get rich or famous from it. But narrowing down the times/dial in...gives it a better heads up feel even though you're racing yourself and the clock. JT, Shayne, my bike and most of the guys we ride with the times are all so close....it pretty much always feels like a heads up race. But a lot of the guys are building BIG bikes this year, and will be in the 3's easily....it's just a weird feeling having a 3.8 bike smoke by you at the end!
  15. Shh...top secret...LOL.. Probably tear it down in a month or so. Uncle Sam was very nice to me this year...but I'm still just gonna freshen up and inspect the upper and lower end. If i get a few extra duckets...maybe straight cuts...don't know though. If Evan and I have time to put a chassis together, great...if not, it'll be the same slow turd this year as last year...it'll just have a few more chrome parts on it....good for 1 or 2 HP...LOL. We all know it's not the biggest motor that wins at the dunes, it's the biggest brass balls, which...I kinda like my limbs all moving, working...etc. That spill Frank took on my bike still is in the back of my mind...I gotta be honest with you...
  16. Ok...fine. We'll just have to send pics...
  17. American Motorcycle Association, governing body of most organized racing....for motorcycles/quads...etc. AMA Supercross....for example.
  18. Get a 400 grit wet/dry sand paper and a FLAT block, piece of steel, etc. Remove the studs from the cylinders....add water, and make a gentle figure 8 on the surfaces against the sand paper for a 5 to 10 seconds at a time. When you can clearly see scratches across the gasket surfaces, you're set. Lapping involves using an abrasive compound, which....is similar to using the wet/dry sand paper... After having problems with a brand new cub cylinders in 06, I do this every time I put a motor together, new or old... Takes 5 minutes including setup....just make sure you have a flat piece to put the sand paper on and work with. Do NOT over do it, aluminum is very soft...and it only takes a few swipes to get a nice clean, flat surface for gasket mating.
  19. Jay, on the 4 or 5 kits I've purchased in the last couple of years, they all had brown dome O rings (Combustion chamber seal) and black for the rest. I'm getting a chariot head, but it'll be a few months before I put it on...have to get domes cut to match my motor, etc.... I'm getting a deal I can't pass up on one...so, I'll report back to let you guys know how it works.
  20. You and JT both...you non plug pulling believers....LOL... The Otter race is two Saturdays from now, thread over on PS from Doug on it.... Justin, these are alky plugs. Normally...you get a black ring on the bottom after a run or two. These plugs, in my best guess....have been in Shayne's bike all year. And judging by how it ran all year, I wouldn't touch a THING!!!
  21. It truly is amazing how much stuff Jeff actually carries on his shelfs... Since you're ordering from him anyway, ask for the FBT racing team discount... (Fat Boy Treat)
  22. NO offense, but I'm all for bracket racing...or even index racing...as long as the classes are structured right. A 4 second bike shouldn't have to run a 6 second utility quad... and a bike with gears shouldn't have to run a CV type bike (snomobile clutch or auto tranny with no shifting) Here's the main reason why... I'm 250 lbs. Yeah, I could cut weight, diet...etc. But on my frame...I could get no lighter than 200 lbs, or I'd look like an Ethiopian on crack. I could set up one bad ass bike, have the motor tuned, chassis tuned, gearing, air pressure, etc. The I could get beat heads up by a lesser bike with a 110 pound jockey on it. In my opinion, bracket racing lets guys who build their own bikes ride their own bikes....jockeys are for horse racing... Now...I'm all for going to a big event and watching a low 3 second bike tear up the track, it is truly impressive to watch. 99% chance that jockey just showed up to race, didn't work on the bike...didn't PAY for the bike....etc. I know there are cc limits and what not... for heads up racing. That simply doesn't take into account my example earlier... I'm 6 foot, I was 110 lbs and in great shape in 6th grade....
  23. And it will cause detonation from heat...
  24. Yep...I think I got off pretty lucky on that learning curve...so far. Yeah, I think I am J. I need to seal my head back up...and I just don't have time to do it for the lake this weekend. Other than that...I am set to go. I'm getting a new head next week, but I won't have time to get domes cut for it yet...I'm gonna wait and get everything done at once. I really wanted to get the chain back on, switch gearing...and fire the bike up in Nuetral (couldn't get it in Nuetral before...) Had to start it twice on ether, and it was fine.... I gotta tip the bike to make sure there's no meth in the crankcase or pipes... 660 feet, man, I better get a 17 tooth from someone....
  25. I've got a video around here, courtesy of the 4 stroke joker Bob if you need a reminder.....LOL... Just fired mine up yesterday....you think those stinger pipes are loud on the ice, try a small garage...yeeeeoowwww.... Just gotta shim out and drill a new hole for the engine stay, reseal the head....and daddy's ready to roll again! Shayne, you gonna come and watch the Otter Lake drags...looks like it might be fun!!
