Well it all started for me in the year 2000, My step dads buddy had a brand spankin new 2001 Banshee sitting in his shed (This was right before the Raptors) and when I saw it I thought it was the coolest thing ever. I nagged at my stepdad to buy anything offroad so he started it with a 250 3-wheeler and I learned everything on that. Well 6 months down the road my step dads buddy was in a bad divorce with his ex wife and she went after him for everything he had. He sold the 01 Shee to us on 0% Financing so my parents took the offer and the first time I even rode on the back it scared the chit outta me. Once I got to ride it by myself I couldnt believe the speed and power it had. After so much riding the top end went and it sat in our garage for about 8 months all dissected(sp?). Once that rebuild, pipes, and airfilter came in I was the happiest kid around with the fastest bike and it was great! I let a few friends ride it and 2 weeks later I had 3 friends go buy a Banshee....I was no longer the fastest of em all

I had a pair of those Spyder Grips, they were nice and comfortable but wore down quick IMO

The GOAT to me has always been MC, 7 Championships under his belt. From what I remember 3-4 years ago when MC lost his title to RC by messing up on a berm I was so upset because I was there at the race on the tip of my toes hoping he would sweep number 8, MC has always been the man to me retired or not. Those that say we'll see RC fall off, it'll happen. Its just a cycle of Old guys vs. New guys and in the end the younger more fit riders prevail. No doubt it makes the sport that much more exciting and fun but all of us that like the old timers and older racers remember the days of nothing but 2 strokes roaming the track just tearing it up. I remember watching the 500's race on the open tracks (coolest races in my opinion).

I run 32:1, never had any difficulties with it.

If your staying strictly stock engine T6, If you have plans for any other engine mods T5
-
Im Jealous, Ive been dying to get a Spanking New Shee for a couple years now. I know all the years are the same but that feeling of having brand new bike is a great feeling.
-
This has always been a big debate about T6's and T5's. Best said that T5's are best for ported and worked engines and T6's are best for stock and lightly modded engines. I run the T6's and havent had a problem with them so far but then again my engine is lightly modded, I seem to like them but then again if I had another $500 to get new pipes they'd be something more top end aggressive since I strictly ride dunes.

It wouldnt be a True Banshee if it were EVER a Poor Stroke. Us at the HQ will be able to say "I lived during the time of the real Shee" and that sounds damn good enough to me. Ill never sell my Shee till the day I die, the Shee has some of the most aftermarket parts that I doubt we'll ever run into not having the supplies and parts to build our monsters. Its the thought that counts, as long as we stay together as a group and help each other out Shee's will be here to stay. -
Alright, Ill be testing next weekend to get jetting and everything good. Thanks for the advice, ill remember to adjust both knobs on the top of the TORS.
-
Ok and just so that Im 100% positive I do twist on the LEFT Tors knob and not the right to set the idle?
-
I do believe its the stock 25

Alright well I rejetted my bike and put a 270 in it ( had a 280). It was running rich so I dropped the main and hopefully that'll help. Also when I did pull the carbs I did what the clymers manual said and put my air/ fuel screw to 2.0 turns. Before I did this they were both way off, I believe right side was 1.5 turns and left was 3.5 so I put them back at 2.0. How can I tell if I need to adjust them ? I haven thad a chance to start the bike yet so when I do how do I know if 2.0 turns isnt enough or is too much?
-
Now I know I should know this kind of thing but what affects the idling on the Shee? I have the TORS caps still on so would it be the knob on the left TORS cap? Or is the air/fuel screw?

A buddy of mine has a 440 Kit in his 400EX plenty of other parts; Port N Polish, Cam, High Comp Piston etc etc... When I only had an airfilter and pipes, i'd blow him away everytime. Only thing the 400ex has going for it is handling.
-
Damn, My T6's run fine with the jets and needles they gave me. I'd say its a tad bit off but nothing TOO bad, my shee still hits hard and no boggin and its definitely not rich. Glad to hear you got it runnin
-
How about some info? Elevation, Air tempature, any other mods on the bike?
-
T6's are not bad, t5's preferred for porting. I like mine only thing is they stick out a tad bit and can burn your legs. They perform fine and they still have that hard mid range punch that Toomey's have, but if you plan on future mods (porting or engine work) do some Rockets or T5's.

I think Cascade is over priced in my opinion. ModQuad!

yall let anyone ride your shee
DirtyFitz replied to banshee_08's topic in General Banshee Discussion
That is so true, You let a 4 stroke rider jump on a Shee and they dont even ride it like it should be, They think that they have a bunch of bottom end and just lug in 3rd in 4th. That drives me crazy. -
It really comes down to what you like to ride (Dunes,MX,Trail,Drag). I've been riding my Banshee since I was 13 and im now 16 but I absolutely love the thing. I ride the dunes so Im not always jumping or racing but If you want to haul ass the Shee will definitely get the job done. I've ridden both 450's and just dont like all of the torque, I love the pull that a Banshee has and all of the horsepower you can very easily get out of them.
-
Have you seen the engine on that thing, has to weigh a ton not to mention how much it will cost to mod it due to that EFI crap. There will always be a place for the Banshee as long as we keep it there. You can dump $1500 into a shee and it'll be fast as hell, you dump $1500 into a poor stroke and still be wanting more power.
-
Oh thanks for tellin me Tom, I was wonderin why I had installed and even bought a boost bottle with all of these guys givin negative talk towards it. I thought it helped with more airflow to the engine but now I know....
-
If your looking for an all around pipe I would say T5's, good mid range pipe.
-
I would say its just what you like, I know the LRD's made almost similar hp to the Toomey's but Toomey's still have more hp. I like my T6's and they've worked fine for me and I dont think a coolhead with more compression could hurt your power just because of pipes.

Hello Fellow HQer's Im planning on going to San Diego for 2 days and my mom said that she'll take me and a buddy up to Glamis/Buttercupfor 2 days so I'll be spending 4 days up in Cali and was wondering if my 280 jets on my shee would be fine for Glamis/Buttercup altitude. If not, what jetting do you guys suggest I should get in my bike? Mods in Sig.
