I am thinking about heading to dumont dunes in a few weeks. I am from northern california and am wondering what the quickest was is to get to dumont. Also are they pretty strict on the spark arrestors and stuff? I have toomeys and didn't really want to have to get a hush kit, what would be my chances if I didn't have one? Any information would help a lot.

Ive been there in may for the past two years and the weather isnt very good. You have to watch for rain, and the sand is really hard packed not the best climbing conditions. I have also been there in August and that was awesome. Towards the end of August is a good time to go because you can still wear shorts, in the morning you usually wear shorts and a sweat shirt and then just short and a t-shirt in the afternoon. Just my 2cents.

I had it done by Adrenaline power sports. Run real nice. You get your stroker back together?

I have a 350 right now, bored .020 over. I just had a dune port done to it, my question is can I still get a big bore kit with my ported cylinders or do i need to start with fresh cylinders? Any advice would help. I am a dune rider, so is the big bore and porting the way to go? I want reliability but lots of power. So what would be the best set up that won't cost an absolute fortune? Thanks. look in my sig. for my upgrades.

Well I finally got to take my newly ported shee out to the sand. I went to Sand mountain in Nevada, and it screams. There is one slight problem. Racing people up the face I can run 4th no problem but want 5th. I can run 5th but its not screamin in the power band. What should I do to get that 5th gear for the face by changing my gears. Here is my set up: dune port and polish v force reeds cool head 19cc domes k&n clamp ons +4 degree timing wiseco pro-lites .020 over toomey t5 20x10x10 9 paddle 14/41 gearing stock swingarm Should I drop all the way to the 13 tooth, or should I add 1 or 2 on the back. I would think 13 would be too low. Any advice would help, 5th gear up the face would be great.

Hey guys. I am a little nervous about putting my shee back together because I dont want to blow it. I am getting a trail/dune port. Here is what else I have: v force reeds k&n clamp ons (no airbox) +4 degree timing toomey t5's Now I ran stock needle, stock pilot, and a 280 main. The guy that is doing the porting says to run a 310 main with stock pilot and needle. What do you guys think? To me it sounds like it would be a little lean, but I am not that good at telling how big of a jet I need. Also how long do I have to run it before I can do a wot check since I have new pistons etc.? Any advice would help so I can get an idea of what to put in it. Thanks.

i have the 20x10x10 9 paddle, haulers. With toomey's and a few mods. And they hook up awesome. Wouldn't trade for anything. I am just curious how they will do when i get my ported engine back. But for ur mods the 9 paddles is awesome.

I was wondering if anyone has climbed choke cherry in the idaho dunes. I have done it with my bike and sandrail, but just got a banshee. Here is what I have: dune port v force reeds, cool head with 19cc domes advance +4 degrees dual k&n's with outerwears stock carbs with 320 mains, stock needle, stock pilot jets toomey t-5 pipes. i run a 13/41 gearing now, but want to go to a 14/41. runnin 20x10x10 9 paddle haulers. What would you guys say what gear I can run up it in with both gearing listed above? I want to pull it in 4th, or 3rd. without having to downshift.

I had the t6 pipe kit but with the uni filter, and i ran stock needle on 4th clip, stock pilot, and 280 main, at sea level and i had a nice tan plug all day long. So I dont know why people go with a 370. I just went and got mine ported and they say go a 310, and stay stock with the rest, so it seems like people like running way too rich.

You do need the overflow tube. The reason is because the radiator is under pressure, but when the water and fluid gets really hot it expands, so if you have no where for the fluid to go it can burst your radiator. The bottle is just a catch can so that it doesnt go on the ground, once you get rid of it just run the tube down the frame so if it overheats it will just dribble on the ground. Btw all dirt bikes that are liquid cooled have a overflow tube. That is why a car has a overflow bottle so when it gets hot it has a place for the water to go and then when the radiator cools it will suck back in the water. Hope this helps.

yea get a 6 paddles, it wont dig as much so you will get better spin for the smaller engine, I c 125 dirt bikes all the time, and they run fine.

I like my nextel, but i have a lot of people with them so i use the direct connect a lot. I have great coverage everywhere i go except through the desolate part of nevada. I pay $49.99 a month and get 400 anytime minutes, unlimited night and weekend, and free incoming calls, along with unlimited direct connect minutes. It is a national plan so there is no roaming at all. and free long distance to whoever I call. -
my only thing is when you remove the airbox, and you have to relocate it, to me its not worth the trouble of mounting it somewhere else.
-
I dont feel that the bottle is worth keeping. Because if you look at all motocross bikes they don't have one because they are basically useless. The radiator is small enough that it cools decently and since I have taken mine off I double check the coolant once in awhile and it is always plum full. I run in the sand a lot too, just went last weekend when it was 98, and still no problems. So why use it.
-
ok, well I checked my shee over. The hose that comes from the water pump goes into a little tee that comes up from the back of the transmission and then goes up to the radiator, at least that is how mine is set up. I hope you understand it. If you have more questions let me know and I would be more than happy to help.
-
I am not really sure what to do wit that hose, I didn't have that hose. I will double check my bike when I go home, but i just remember having to cut the one hose.
-
I really like the toomey pipes, they sound awesome. Plus I ride in the sand a lot, and they are great for that. I had the t6, but they suck for porting, good for stock. So I am exchanging for the t5's.
-
i took a look at your profile, what mods do you have? And when are we goin to get to see a pic of the shee?
-
I can't picture what exactly you are talking about with the second hose. The only hose I can think of is on top of the head and it goes to the radiator. I only remember one hose going to bottle from the radiator, then the other just siphons down to the ground so that if the over flow overflowed it would go onto the ground. Hope it helps.
-
They make a relocator bracket you can buy from rocky mountain. HOwever I just did away with mine because it is an overflow, and it doesnt suck it back it when cold. So whats the point in having it? On all dirtbikes they don't have them so why put one on the shee. I would just rip it off and run the hose down the frame so if it bubbles out a little it goes onto the ground.
