CV-2 35mm on a Stroker
PUSH THE THROTTLE replied to PUSH THE THROTTLE's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
That's the thing I agree with Sredish my CV-2 is so nice it would suck to go back to duals but on the other hand what good is a stroker motor if you can't use to its full potential. to be able to run a 38 you'd have to have the mounting plate machined out wouldn't you? I suppose I could just buy another 35 and the boots and stuff to hook it up then I could swap back and forth between one or two when/if needed. -
Has anybody run a 35mm on a stroker motor? I keep reading about 33's but nobody has mentioned a 35mm on one. Just curious.

This may sound like a dumb question but I know nobody with chrome around me. How does it hold up to grass and mud compared to powder coat. To be honest I've always thought chrome was more for the dunes and show. As long as it can hold up to riding around my parents farm then I'm up for it. I've always been told you had to polish chrome all the time. Also I just noticed that Janssen is offering triple plate show chrome is that worth the extra $150?

what was your first quad?
PUSH THE THROTTLE replied to loganskinner's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Wait a minute, all I hear on the news and stuff is quads aren't safe how come you are all alive after riding quads that long???? Especially Banshees. 1992 Kawasaki Bayou 300 4x4. Fried the motor and bored it out. I could go anywhere with that thing what a tank. Oh the memories. -
I'm in the same boat as you thinking the same question. I plan on a new frame, a-arms, swingarm this winter. I have the 87 red and white plastic and red frame white J-arms and swingarm. I plan on the 04 or 05 frame in red and have been thinking that I would go with red a-arms and swingarm because I ride alot of grassy trails and the white looks pretty green when I get done. I've also thought about the red frame and blue a-arms and swingarm too just to mix it up a bit. What kind of frame and a-arms are you planning on? I plan on stock Yamaha frame (I was told $553 at the dealer) and Janssen A-arms and swingarm.

whats so bad about the 450 ?
PUSH THE THROTTLE replied to d3xnij's topic in General Banshee Discussion
I read that the 05's will be actually 450's instead of 439 or whatever they are. Anybody know anything about it? -

Amsoil 80:1 I'll never switch back unless I run out and can't get new ordered fast enough. Holyman helped me become a preferred customer so it's much cheaper than the yamalube I used to run and I never have to measure just dump in a bottle per 5 gallons and ready to go. I love it.

Mine felt like a fuel issue too (cleaned and recleaned carbs, synched whatever you could do I tried it) but it seems that the stator may have been too weak for both cylinders except when you have the rpms up. Mine would run on one cylinder then bam they both fire and your gone then it would get hot and go back to one cylinder. I would replace the stator before a cdi since its $125 for a stator and $300 for a cdi.
-
afarmboy, I had the same problem when I got my banshee it fired only in one cylinder most of the time. I installed new cdi (dyna fs)fixed it for a week ran great then it died on me and I had no spark so I ordered a ricky stator stator and fixed it. It's ran fine for over a year now. Back to CD's problem don't know much about the tors removal kit mine came with the box unplugged, Boons got you covered there. One thing you could do to get rid of the carburator problems is get yourself a trinity CV2 system one carb 2 minute jetting changes and easy on the thumb but hard on the wallet at $450+. Just a suggestion I wouldn't be without mine as long as it has enough juice for my motor.
-
I've been running a Ricky Stator stator and flywheel no problems about a year on the stator.
-
I bought my 2's from Magic racing for $219. If the 3's where out I would have gotten them though.
-
In my 87 I was running 250 mains with a K&N with holes in the lid of my airbox, stock pipes ran great. As far as your problem though I agree with Boonman you don't use the main jet while idling so it seems it has to be your pilot circuit.
-
Cd, I think your on the right track. SVTKID78 makes a good point that you may need to adjust your idle screws so that you can achieve an idle. My opinion is that you have a lack of fuel. Keep us updated, good luck.
-
CD to add to what I said before the reason in checking your pilots is because when you start your shee as long as you don't start it holding the throttle open you are only getting fuel through the pilot jet. From reading your other posts it sounds like a lack of fuel. Your main jet sounds reasonable since it runs until you let off the throttle. You have good spark and reasonable compression. Turn your air screw 2 turns out from seated and as long as your pilots not plugged you should get it to fire. Good luck, I gotta go.
-
Sounds like it has to be your jetting. Adjust your air screws and check and re-check your pilot jet. Also you should put your filter back on because you will be running it with an airfilter any way so if you get it running now with it on you won't have to adjust jetting when your done. Plus it's just bad for the Shee to run without an air filter that could very well be why your carb is jacked up.

another blame the atv article
PUSH THE THROTTLE replied to gumby's topic in General Banshee Discussion
The problem right there is that when the parent said no then the kid shouldn't have gotten on. Obviosly the person who wrote that doesn't know the difference between handlebars and a steering wheel. A couple of weeks ago I read in the paper that a 3 year old was killed while riding with a 5 year old or something like that. The two kids were apparently doing donuts while the 3 year olds mother watched. The newspaper wrote all about how dangerous ATV's are since 2 people had died riding atv's last year in Iowa. The kids were actually riding a 5 wheel gator which correct me if I'm wrong doesn't classify as an ATV. But the important part of the story, no disrespect to the kid who died, was that in Iowa as of July 1 it is illegal to ride in road ditches, they will now have 2 ATV police driving around, and everyone 18 and under must pass an ATV training course. I'm 24 and just recently (February) had really my first accident on a fourwheeler and I've been riding them since I was 14. I was doing about 60 in the snow and tried to jump a small snowpile. I didn't realize the snow pile as actually a railroad tie it kicked my rearend up so I was nose wheelieing and I looked up saw a parked car infront of me and bailed. I hit hard enough to get knocked out and a ride to the emergency room in an ambulance. I luckily had nothing broken, not even a single bruise. But I did get a nice bill still working with insurance on that one. My Banshee hit the car hard enough to move it 18 inches (Mercury Sable right behind the rear tire. Only damage to the banshee was sheared two bolts to and bent my DG bumper. The point I'm getting at is that I blame only myself and have learned the importance of knowing your riding area and wearing proper safety gear. The banshee wasn't to blame for my stupidity. Nor should any atv be blamed for what the rider does with it. -
I agree with Boonman don't break or cut your bolts. When I rebuilt my truck I couldn't budge the bolts with a breaker bar and two people on it ended up breaking the Torx socket twice. Went to Sears bought a good Craftsman impact and had them all out in under 10 minutes.
-
I believe that you shouldn't be forced to wear one either, but I also don't need stupid fines taking money that I should be spending on my quad so I wear mine. What really bugs me is that when this seat belt thing started when was it late 80's early 90's, post 3 wheeler days can't remember I was too young. But I do remember that the cops couldn't pull you over unless you were doing something else wrong. Shows how the slippery slope theory has been proven, give an inch take a mile.

Banshee Gets Too Hot Quickly
PUSH THE THROTTLE replied to q8banshee3883's topic in General Banshee Discussion
You say that you sold the T-5's did you rejet for the DMC's. My DMC's love fuel. I also wouldn't run 7 degrees thats for drag bikes and by looking at your mods that isn't what you have. -
I wouldn't switch unless you have some connection to get it cheaper. Start saving money send your motor to Passion and then switch.
