Ok....I got the compression tester.....took it camping this past weekend in Hollister, Ca. The place is awesome. 90% of the trails are one way roads. They have street signs pointing you in the right direction....Do not enter sighns and such. The place is top notch. Not to mention they have 3 or 4 tracks. And I only wrecked once. Why is it that I always wreck when Im doin stupid shit like fishtailin or wheeleein. Always on the simple stuff. I guess I should be thankfull, I never want to have a 6th gear spill. NO THANK YOU. Ok back to compression. At about 1000ft ---nice and warm after bout an hours ride-- 100psi on the left 105psi on the right Time to do it or what....I know, I know. Im down for a little while anyway. My buddy---drunk buddy--ran into me (on the last ride) just barely bumped me from behind. Took the left T-5 right off. Slamed it into the pitcock, head, A-Arms, and frame. Buckled it in 3 places and bent the tip. Luckily I had extra hangers and we were able to bend it back in place and get it hung. now where the pipe meets the engine looks like my grandpa smokin a pipe.....puff puff

sweet guys.....another guy told me to put it in gear....then push the quad forward till it locks...you get all the sag in the middle....works pretty good. As far as I can tell its about the same sitting on it, and putting it in gear and pushin. The good thing about the gear puttin....is you dont have all the blood rushin to your head from layin on your stomach......

Kickers Will Ship For Vodhanel, Young, Reynolds
knight_ripper replied to Holyman's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Man....I tried the fix on my kicker before I went camping this last weekend. Two good things.....First I didnt have to hit it with a rock to get it to come out....and second it didnt rattle. But damnit if it isnt as loose as my grandma right now. The mother f*%r kept hitting me in the ankle. lol. I had to keep kickin it with my heel on knarly corners and stuff. But I will tell you what. It was sure better than having that thing stick on me one more time. I tried dremmeling it out....but broke off the tip of the grinder....my bad....I was in a hurry....as it was a last minute fix. Well right behind my other fix. lol. So I drilled out the remander of the bearing hole with a drill. SO basically its the same thing, the hole now fits the .25" bearing. But I didnt touch the kicker part where the bearing sets in when its in the In position. Was I sapposed too? -
I need to adjust it for sure. I have 6" of sag. When you pick up the back of the shee you can feel the shock bottom out before the wheels come off the ground. The best I can describe it.....is.....there are three nuts on the top of the rear shock. The top one to hold the shock to the head, the middle one (which is a lock nut), and the the bottom one of the three is touching the spring....which when turned changes the height of the shee. I beleive the adjustment on the bottom of the shock is for rebound...so I didnt mess with that. But I did loosen the top middle nut (lock nut)and then cranked down on the spanner nut. With a bunch of turning Im aprox 1/2 way down the threads on the top and still only at 5 1/2". Im just wondering if this is the right way to change it. Keep in mind....I just got this shock back from TCS. Rebuilt....New oil and seal.... Feels great....real mushy. In fact with my new Works Duel Rates the quad has never handled the same. I am now a true believer that suspension should be one of the first upgrades. All new suspension has turned my shee into a cornering machine.

how do you tell if your chain is either too tight or too loose?
-
UPP makes chain guides and rollers for the shee. You can buy it as a set for like 80 bux. two rollers and two guides. Ive had mine for about a year now and no sign of wear. Scratches yes....but not worn in.
-
I was told 4" on sag. And to adjust it, pop off the clip on top and turn the spring. I dont have the shock in my hands yet but I dont remember any clip on there. I thought the way you adjusted the height of the shock is with a spanner wrench. Also is 4" standard for all types of riding. what is the sag on mx?

lil surfer.... what year is your shee?

Aw shit....what does Hone mean? lol

I love you guys man...... I feel all tingly inside. I love this place. I will try all the above. I will go get a compression tester today, and see what it reads. What is the stock compression? Do I want it to read something specific? Like, it has to be over 100? Or below 80? Or do I just want both cylinders to be the same?
-
also, how do you do a compression test? Put my mouth on the pipe and have a buddy kick it....if my head is still on, the compression test failed! Will I need a special tool?
-
what do you mean by rebuild? You dont think new pistons and rings will be good enough?
-
I have a '97 stock engine with all the exterior mods. My buddy has been trying to talk me into doing the rings...just for the hell of it. I was wondering how necessary it was...and if I even would want to just do the rings? Or Should I put in a whole new stock Wiseco kit? I have wanted to do the top end for awhile now...just cause. But at the same time I would like to put on a NOSS head, and V-Force reeds. Should I wait?
