  1. I have always used Pennzoil 30w in my Blasters, KX, and now my Banshee and never had a problem. (Is this oil ok?)
  2. I haven't ordered the T6s yet. I'm saving up the money. I've got a set of 20 over wiseco prolites ready to go in. I'm not too concerned about the pistons that are in it, I don't care if I burn 'em up. Its a '99 and the motor has never been rebuilt. As far as the plugs..I don't think I have any detonation or leaks around the cages or carbs, etc. It ran like that before I took off the carbs. I did just notice (after about an hour of riding) that one of my idle screws was missing (the kind on the side, not TORS). I'm sure that cylinder was running extremely lean as that carb was sucking air through the hole. I guess I'll order another idle screw from magic racing, along with some 220 through 280 mains (to complete my set) I have another question: can the mains be drilled out to a larger size? I think I have seen this question before, but I don't know the answer. I'm sure it would take an extremely small, precise bit to accomplish that task,
  3. I have some jets ordered, but I think I went too big. I ordered jets for when I get my T6s. I think I ordered 290s through 350s. I also ordered all of the pilots 27.5-35. My elevation is about 300 ft, and temp today is about 45F. I'm also running the air screws at 1.5 turns out already. As for going leaner, I know that's a bad idea. Maybe my post was unclear, but I didn't mean to say that I was going to go leaner. Does anyone have any ideas on the other problem (the second paragraph about sputtering)?
  4. I have a stock banshee other than the listed mods. (I have Boyesen valves/reeds..not FMF) I have 200 main jet and a 25 pilot. Not sure about needle clip position (I forgot to look). It seems to run rich at idle and lean at full throttle. I did the choke trick and it did run better once it got moving....would stall at idle or low throttle. I haven't done a plug chop, but I did look at my plugs AFter a few minutes of hard riding. The base of the threaded spark plug area had spots of tan/brown and spots of no color. The rest of the plug was black and wet. Also..it sputters in gear 1 through 3 at all throttle ranges..1/4 3/4 WOT, etc. How could this be the jetting? The motor should rev the same and feel the same (rich, lean, etc) no matter what gear its in...shouldn't it? I can't pop the clutch and even lift the wheels in the first 3 gears, but once I get into about 4th gear it seems to "lean out" and it starts flying. PLEASE HELP! I just bought this bike and it has done this since I first rode it. I just put the FMF Rad Valve in and the Power Series Reeds and it seems to run about the same...maybe a little leaner at WOT. Thanks for any assistance. ( I have already read "Banshee Jetting FAQs" in its entirety)
  5. I rode one about ten years ago. It was a "big wheel kx80" modified with the 100cc jug. It had aftermarket reeds with everything else stock from what I remember. It did beat a brand new 100% stock banshee in a rolling drag race (not from a dead stop.) The suspension was ok. buth the seals in the front forks leaked. I 've also had a KX125, and the KX 100 would not beat it, but he 100 would ride better wheelies. And motor work: well this one first had a water pump seal break. Then we had to rebuild the motor and a day later took it back apart and the top of the piston and head was all pitted. I don't know what happeded after that (It wasn't my bike..I think the dumbass that owned it was riding too hard before it was broken in)
  6. I just put FMF Rad Valves in with the reeds that came on the (Power Series Carbon Fiber....or something like that) I could tell virtually no difference in performance in my stock '99. I also bought the dual stage reeds but forgot to order two sets......so I haven't put them in yet.
  7. I opened my carbs to check the float hieghts yesterday, and I noticed the same thing...I was just about to post the question!
  8. I finally ordered them from magic racing . I was afraid that the jets wouldn't fit stock banshee carbs, but the sales rep said they would.....I hadn't had time to call them during normal business hours, that's why I was asking everyone.
  9. According to Banshee Jetting FAQ (or whatever). I need around #340. I will eventually have t6's and silencers; and currently have K&N and holes drilled in snorkel-free airbox.
  10. Jetting FAQ says stock carbs have "small hex" jets. I cannot find "small hex" Mikuni jets larger than #200........PLEASE HELP....Have been looking for a couple days!!!!
  11. OK .. Where can I get main jets for stock carbs. I understand that I need jets of the small hex variety. After reading Banshee Jetting FAQ, I've determined that I will eventually need to start aroud #340 or 350 when finished w/ my mods. I cannot find "small hex" mains over #200...........what's up? Thanks again ya'll for any info.
  12. I cannot find a site that sell jets online. I would like to order a kit containing multiple sizes of mains and pilots. Also....do you have to order the pilots from yamaha? I know regular mikuni pilots don't fit Banshee carbs. Thanks for any help.
  13. Thanks everyone. I'm going to clean the carbs and check the floats when I install my Rad Valve and Power Reeds. I also have some Wiseco Pistons ordered and plan to bore it 20 over. Like another recent post, mine too leaks tons of fuel out of the carb overflow tubes, even if the gas valve is turned off. (Of course this is probably fuel left in the gas lines after I turn the gas off, It just takes a while to leak through the hoses.) Even with the gas left on, It shouldn't leak fuel through the overflow tubes (should it?)..stuck floats? Other bikes I have had haven't had this problem.
  14. I recently bought a'99. Someone had put a twist throttle on it and removed the TORS. They placed idle screws on the stock carbs. I don't think it has been jetted. but it has a K&N. It had been using Klotz @32:1; I drained it and started MC1 40:1 and removed the snorkel and drilled the airbox lid. It helped some, but did not correct the problem. It runs rich (richer in left cylinder). My brand new plugs are black and oil covered. Thanks for any help, J-Madd
