Are you street racing or strictly 1/4 mile? Yes, you can get 200chp on gas but you couldn't use the stock frame to ride it. plus you would need a 16 inch wide tire to hook up. 10-14mm stroke max on the street....depending on what cylinders you end up using that would put you anywhere from 140-175 hp at the crank even with a engine in this neigborhood, frame mods would be needed and would still be.......uuuuuuuuuuuuh........ stupid fast. If highway use is part of the game you'll have to re-group due to heat dissapation...but honestly.....even 140 CHP would be a handfull and those goals can be met easily and not alot of money(relative term ofcourse)....Jim PM me if needed

If your head is machined properly and domes are seating properly, you either have a compression ratio/octane discrepency, squish velocity design issue, squish offset design issue more than likely. If your engine is has an air leak problem, more than likely you are goiing to see seizure, detonation problems. Does the engine seem to be overheating besides the blown orings....Jim

If your cylinders are set up the way I suspect they are, your actual static compression is higher than you think it is. I suspect your closer to 180+psi static= 109octane fuel at sea level...possible gauge discrepency...Jim

PVL....PRO"S and CON"S CON"S 1) Loss of headlights due to no windings for power supply. 2) Special tools needed for accurate timing adjustments. 3) Special wiring considerations and diodes or dual kill switches. 4) Applied maintenance practices observed while doing such tasks as compression ck's etc to prevent damage to stator windings. PRO's 1) Individual coils that fire every 360 degrees individually instead of a shared coil that fires every 180 degrees=better quality ignition spark. 2) Less rotating mass resulting in less crank fatigue and quicker spool up times. For the average engine the stocker is probably the best choice. For serious drag race engines...PVL all the way. Complaints of loss of launching ability in drag racing with a PVL in almost every case is a lack of balance between Time/Area porting design and a given engines effective displacement design at rated max HP RPM. Other considerations apply as well but this ratio by far is the most common mistake made. Engines that are designed observing these calculations dont need a heavy flywheel to launch out. Stock flywheels are simply a band-aid for engines that lack these design consideratons. Heres the PVL Curve.....enjoy....Jim

Hope we can get more and more big bikes to come and i wish everybody would leave there attitudes at home. There is no place for attitudes at these races just want to help support our sport and keep it growing. Diddo, we had a great time and Tracy is doing a fine job for a project barely off the ground. Lights and shut down area work are in the near future as I hear it. Everybody popping off at each other just brings a negative atmosphere to everything...just let the bikes do the talking and leave it at that, good sportsmanship is at least as comendable as good performance. Look forward to many races to come. Many thanks to Kenny at FastTrak for piloting our Cub and for accepting the ride for our new bike...Jim

Yes , same story on smaller PV Cheetah's.... a good design , just not ballistic drag engine material in the form they were casted. Good smooth power with respectable top-end, just not violent enough in nature to be intimidating in competition drag racing without re-working them......Jim
-
Maxima927 or Maxima Super M on gas, 927 on alky...keep your gas cans shook up, run the carbs dry when putting the bike up, and youll never look back. Klotz motors are some of the nastiest looking rebuilds Ive done....Jim
-
Typically not the hottest set-up for drag racing without massive re-work. Blowdown durations are so low on Big PV Cheetahs at lower rpms they actually have major charge contamination until you hit around 7k. You wont get that violent on the pipe adreneline rush until you've increased blowdown pressures, re-work exhaust ports BIGTIME, and modify PV's on big Cheetahs....Jim

Definately piston failure in this case. bone stock intake tract....and I might add, ive had exact designs run all season without problems on WSM's as well. But I will also add, Ive never had a Wiseco brake intake skirts on ANY design...my .02....Jim
-
You would be correct, Ive seen the specs on these jugs, it could have been something to start with anyway, but unless you do a ton of rework to start with, youll never create a competative drag engine with them compared to a Cub in that price range....Jim
-
They look good but had some serious problems on the intake skirts, at least on the 68mm Blaster versions originally, hopefully they have it handled now. I scattered a 10mill Cub on the dyno and took out the cases, pistons, domes etc on a brand new set...and I'm not the only one who's had the same issue. .......Jim

Pipes, at least some of them, are Shearer units....pretty good stuff, for now anyway  . The reeds are near genius if the math was right....but it wasn't....end result VF3 smokes them in every case we've dynoed, not saying they cant made to work better, just requires effort and time, and yes, correct calculations...Jim
-
1st problem....Your CEL's are almost certainly too lean, try a DEK. What intakes are you running? at least one brand I know of will read lean on the mid with normally accepted jetting ranges. Also, its not terribly uncommon to read hotter EGT's on the right side...easily combatted with a larger main as long as your certain no air leaks exist....Jim

Nope, 8's are fine

Looks rich to me. Do a 6 gear all shee's got and kill the ignition and coast it in. Pull the plugs and refer to the chart below. give new plugs a 20 minute run in first at moderate loads then do the 6 gear pull. For quick reference jetting inspections, inspect the thread flat around the circumfrance of the plug shank body, cardboard color is perfect. Note: some blends of fuel will distort the color from the typical cardboard color, Octane boosters will as well...The main thing is you NEED some color around the circumfrance of the shank or you are near the toasted engine stage...Jim http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g215/pas...e/plugchart.jpg

I hear you man... I couldn't find a decent 400 to save my life within 1000 miles from Oklahoma......finally had this one shipped in from North Carolina along with another one around 10 years ago. My 400 is completely original except for the mods...no restoration and its hard to tell from the pics, but its a solid 9 in condition. The 200 was shipped in from Maine and I did a complete ground up on it for my wife. I cant go anywhere on my 400 without someone coming up to me with a story about some 350 or 400 that they, or friend ,or brother had 30 years ago. I can hold off just about any 600 up to around 90 mph... Who would have thought those CBX's would be worth what they are?...its just insane what a cherry CBX is worth.. I was working for Honda when they came out in 79"...couldnt afford one at the time and had to settle for the 750F instead...Jim

Im 47 , heres a couple of old RD's I currently own , the 400 is affectionaltly referred to as the "Geeker Sleeper".....Jim http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g215/pas...0503rd200-2.jpg http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g215/pas...0503rd400-1.jpg

Phil, get your best price on the 22" razr2's and then give me a call. I ended up with a set I cant use, never mounted brand new ,still zip-tied to the packing cardboard.. Ill make you a great deal...Jim
-
Yes, this is normal ,Blaster pistons are shorter that 795's from the pin the the top edge. The crown is also different and displaces much less volume than a banshee piston so the cc's of your domes will be different than your used to running with regular banshee pistons for the same given fuel choice...Jim

Nitro Methane is the good stuff!!! Possibly one in your neck of the woods next year David. working with a guy about one...only 5 in existance currently. At least 10 more over the next couple of months are going out though. Should be on at Whitefield next weekend. If things go well, maybe LS on Turkey day...Jim
-
I talked to Trey a few months ago...he never mentioned anything....next year sometime?...where are you?...sounds like I owe you Cruz...give me a call and well get together at LS, maybe Whitefield
-
You CAN relate then I take it. You definately know it when your in the zone so to speak .... LOL
-
Straight to the good stuff huh? When your ready for the extra 20+ horses your missing out on, give me a call. those specs are for competition track engines only...definately not for casual horror
