  1. How much octane is needed for 180 compression?
  2. I think 24:1 is overkill, get some good oil and go 32:1 or 40:1 and i was running 330 mains and 30 pilots with a similar set up.
  3. I think i've heard that PC pipes like bigger pilots, I would try a 30 pilot.
  4. You wont have to get new cylinders unless yours have been bored out so many times that there is nothing left to bore anymore.
  5. stock pilots are 25, 1 size bigger is 27.5 then 30
  6. Your gonna need to get a flywheel puller, you can get them from most bike shops for about 10 bucks or so.
  7. This is the clip thingy that must be removed. You have to remove the clutch basket first. EDIT: Pic was used from www.thebansheezone.com Try to mention where things came from..... THanks!!!
  8. I dont think I would have done wide open plug checks on the first 30 mins. on a brand new motor. I didnt do a wide open run on my motor till after about 5 gals. of gas.
  9. Advance timing 4+ degrees and add vforce for better flow and if you have very mild porting you prolly wont need much bigger carbs, maybe some 28 or 30 keihin pwk's. Since you are running race fuel already it wouldnt hurt to go with some smaller domes to increase your compression, timing advance and more compresson makes a big difference on low end power but you would definately want to consider getting the crank welded if you add compression.
  10. I would say that you need to go atleast 1 size bigger on the pilot but 30's prolly be even better. Try putting the needle clip up to the third notch and that should help the mid range, im sure toomey will tell you to you to jet it a bit rich just to cover their ass so you cant tell them that their jetting blew up your bike. As far as the main jet, 280's dont sound none to rich to me. Get the main dialed in first then work on the midrange.
  11. Wiseco 795 series.
  12. I donno how big of air whores FMF pipes are but that sounds really close.
  13. Get in touch with Jim at Passion Racing Engines (PassionRE) and and have him hook you up with a stroker crank trued and welded and have him port your cylinders to match and you too will have one of those screamin banshee's
  14. Blue Duece has a Passion stroker motor and a -2 swing arm, not sure how much dune riding or hill climbs he does though...
  15. I just put on a motion pro turbo.....very sweet and way better than getting a sore thumb and resting every 5 mins.
  16. I would start with 330 main stock needle position and 30 pilot.
  17. Sudco look at part #8 and #20 the float valve attaches to the spring then onto the float, make sure it is there and the float is not sticking.
  18. Did you take the bottom of the bowl off? When I took mine off to change the pilot the float pin fell off and the entire float essembly fell apart, then when I put it back on I didnt realize that the valve had fell out too and it was dumping fuel also.
  19. Just go to toomey's website and order the new and improved mounts, they are like 15$ apiece.
  20. Wow, I have a stock swing arm just laying in the garage
  21. I do not have the airbox just the front part of it for the adapter. Jetting is at 180 and 48.
  22. I have pushed 5 gallons of break-in fuel through her so far and i'm gonna start looking at the main jet real close now if I can get her opened up, this bitch is faaast!
  23. I finally got to ride my long anticipated Passion 12 port stroker. First of all I took my 13 front sprocket off and went back to stock 14/41 gearing. For break-in I mixed up some yamalube at 24/1. After a few hot and cold runs I started to get on it alittle more and actually hit the powerband and WOW it hits hard and pulls like hell, the problem was the flat spot before the powerband. After pulling the plugs and seeing how black and wet they were I then leaned out the needle 1 clip and the midrange got better, opened up the air screws till they were 3 full turns out and it got even better, went down 1 size to 48 on the pilots and it got even better, the problem is I still have a bit of a flat spot at the midrange. I dont know if its because of the CPI pipes, the rich gas/oil mix or the main jet. My next trip out I will be done with this rich break-in mix and then I will check the main jet if I can find a safe place to get this thing to 6th gear WOT BTW...this was all done in wet, loose sand. If the main jet is not a problem then I'm gonna try going back to the 13 front sprocket but a 13/41 seems geared a bit low for a motor with this output even if I do weigh 275 lbs.
  24. I would check the jetting first of all because a lean jetting will certainly overheat. Just because fmf's site tells you what size jets to run dont mean that it's jetted properly, do a wide open throttle plug check and if it's not a jetting issue then tear into the water pump.
  25. Just change the oil and do a compression check to see if the pistons or rings are worn out and make sure the airfilter is clean, thats a good place to start.
