pipe smoke more than the other pipe
bigboybanshee replied to BansheeWanted's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Also that means not just the slides being in sync, but the idle screws as well. My pipes were smoking unevenly and I realized that one carb was slightly off from where the other was (idle screw). Got them synced, started smoking evenly... How does it run like it is now? -
What mods are done to it? I know you said new banshee but obviously it's not stock if you're running 310 mains. I was having the same problem last week and I had to adjust my idle screws and still need to adjust my needle to get it perfect. BUT, I did get it from not starting cold to starting on the first couple kicks with just adjusting the idle screw. Have you tried adjusting them?

That's awesome Ben!! Does anyone know if you can "trade off" quads for the event? Is there a website that gives a little more info about the race/rules? lol, could you imagine....the HQ roll up in the desert showing everyone what time it is...absolute class -

What dates and where? Sounds like it would be a hell of a nice vacation trip for next year!!!! Sredish, you're not gonna have any last minute hunting trips before this are you? Just messing with ya man! -
Well, it would be a good idea to replace the pistons and rings; wiseco has a kit that comes with everything...pistons, rings, gaskets, etc. for around 150-160, depends on where you buy it. First you'll have to check your cylinders for piston to cylinder wall clearance to determine whether or not you'll need a bore job. If you do, the take the cylinders to the shop, have it bored, and then buy the pistons to fit the fresh bore. If you don't need a bore job, just find out what size pistons are in there now and replace those along with the rings, etc...While you have the top end off, it would be in your best interest to split the cases and inspect the crank and replace your crank seal. Check all your gears for any broken or chipped teeth, and so on...just give it a thorough inspection. You haven't ridden it yet, so you don't know what shape the tranny is in...I'm glad to hear you're tearing into it yourself; you'll be glad you did.

I wouldn't go as far as saying they're pieces of crap...I've ridden one before and it was a pretty nice quad. It wasn't really fast or anything but overall it wasn't bad at all. I wouldn't buy one but also wouldn't knock anyone who did. just my .02 Big Blue's brother has a KFX400 (pretty much the same thing) and his quad was really tight...

neutral impossible to find while running
bigboybanshee replied to joshv5.0's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Mine too. I still have a little trouble from time to time getting it in neutral but the fresh oil makes a HUGE difference... -
Don't take it to the shop!!! Go to your local dealership and buy a clymer's manual. I noticed Autozone has started carrying manuals for ATV's now too. The dealer will rip you a new bung hole if you take it there to let them "diagnose" the problem. Honestly, you should take it apart anyhow and overlook everything just for knowledge of the condition of your engine. Replace all the gaskets anyway, that way you know they're all good. If you know there is a bad seal somewhere you should tear it down and see what else needs to be replaced...
-
I didn't use any hangers on my T5 silencers. I bolted them directly to the frame. I did have to make the mount hole slightly bigger on the silencer but nothing major at all.
-
I wouldn't try to start it anymore....especially if you know it has a bad "seal" of any sort in there. For all you know it could be a bad crank seal...or maybe a bad reed gasket. I strongly suggest you take it apart, inspect everything for yourself and replace all seals and gaskets. That is the for sure way of knowing 1. what is/was wrong and 2. know that it has been put together correctly. Say you do get it running and that bad seal turns out to be a worn/cracked ring or an air leak of some sort.....you could do more damage than good by getting it started now. Better safe than sorry Post the auction that you won. It would be interesting to see the listing..

lol, I see it now...."Pimp my quad" Would fit right in with all the other shows that are out like that. They may not go into the motor but I'd bet you'd come home with a polished set of cases and cylinders...with a beautiful set of chrome pipes

I'll try changing the oil first, maybe go with a good gear oil instead of motor oil and see if that helps it before checking the fibers. Thanks again fixitrod!
-
Exactly what I would do...At most with this mod you would go up one size on the main jet; probably don't need to change anything though. Leave the pilot where it's at now. This mod ads a nice little improvement over stock

Could the fluid I'm using make it slip? I've always run 10-30 engine oil in it before and haven't had any problems. Only difference is that I used Castrol this last time where I have been using Valvoline before...Thanks for the reply fixitrod

I was wondering how often you guys change out your clutch? I changed mine last year, but I use it a lot riding trails. How long do you usually get out of your clutch before you replace it? Oh yeah, I have all 6 aftermarket springs in there...won't that wear it out a little faster too? I thought I felt a slip last time I rode it....Thanks for the help!

Weather report for Waynoka.... http://www.weatherunderground.com/cgi-bin/...y=waynoka%2C+ok Looks like it will be wet, maybe some snow on Sunday....I wonder what snow covered dunes look like?

I was gonna say the same thing...I just put some Boyeson pro series carbon reeds in my shee last weekend and I ended up dropping the main jet one size and am gonna mess with the needle this weekend. Even the paperwork that came with the reeds said that it makes your engine run a little rich and you might need to drop mains 1-2 sizes depending on your setup.

Interesting. 2004 Home Computer
bigboybanshee replied to ledofthezep's topic in General Banshee Discussion
I found out what the steering wheel was for..... Find out here -
"Ideally" the idle/air screws should be 1.5 to 2.5 turns out. But, technically you just adjust them until it runs good, and DEFINITELY make sure both carbs are adjusted the same...Anything over 3 to 3.5 turns out is too much and you'll need to change your pilot jets. I seriously doubt you'll have to change pilot jets though from changing the air filter...
