    Dammit!

Sorry to hear that boonman. Hope you heal up quick, and get plent of sponge baths. I wonder if that glue shit will work if I ever have a daughter, you know, a chastity belt for the new millenium.
  2. Yeah, there's nothing wrong with the stockers. Throw 'em in the 4th clip from the top/blunt end and let 'er fly.
  3. Yeah, what most have said. Coolhead/milled head for higher compression VForce reed cage suspension, depending on riding style Single carb for more low/midrange power
  4. They're not bad reeds at all. Boyesen are very reputable. I, myself, think the VForce flow a little more air due to the cage and a lot of people like the fact that the cage is thick, kinda like a built in spacer.
  5. Definitely a good place to start. How do the plugs look?
  6. well, let me see if I can explain this. the cylinders fire at 180 degrees, so... the left will fire, then the right will fire, then the left... if you have dual carbs, air is being pulled through one carb for an instant, then the other for an instant. both carbs are not pulling air at the exact same moment. a single carb is pulling a constant flow of air through the carb, however it doesn't feed both cylinders at the same moment, due to them firing at opposite intervals, therefore supplying a blast of air on demand. Don't know if that is a perfect explanation, but that should give you the jist.
  7. And you say I have too much time on my hands.
  8. I use Ad-aware w/ Ad-watch and Norton Internet Security. Together, I am completely spam, popup and spyware free, there ain't shit getting into my system. It has like 3 or 4 barriers to get through. And it works.
  9. damn man, i wouldn't be buying any lottery tickets, cause your luck just ain't there. I'd also say pull the head and see if there's any damage before you do much more. WTF is up with your luck. Sorry to hear. Scott
  10. what clip is the needle in, or did you just leave it where it was?? I'd put it in the 4th clip down from the top/blunt end. Also, that pilot is probably a little rich. I agree that you might not have it dialed in yet. The needle can make a difference also, especially on the single carbs.
  11. can't help you man, don't have a freaking clue.
  12. sounds like your still running lean. what are your mods and elevation? If you ain't got much more than pipes and light porting, I'd begin to wonder if you don't have something else going on. Did this just start one day, or after some mods or what?
  13. are you shifting too early in the powerband, try holding the gear a little longer before shifting. If your sure it's not that, is it at full throttle, 1/2 throttle?
  14. A "petcock" is the little thingy that you turn to shut off the fuel or switch to the reserve, you know, the little thingy on the bottom of the gas tank that the hose connects to for the carb. If you get trash or dirt in there, it can often clog up and limit the flow of fuel threw there. There is a screen, you can take all the fuel out and clean the screen and see what happens. Also, while your at it, throw on a clear inline fuel filter between it and the carb, if you haven't already. Later.
  15. great, let us know where you end up.
  16. My air srew is around 1.5 to 2 turns out.
  17. richening would be moving the clip down/away from the top/blunt end, and leaning the needle is moving the clip up/towards the top/blunt end. Hope that makes sense.
  18. just try it and see. like pimp said, it will just run richer, and best case scenario, it will run a little cooler and have a tad less power (maybe not even noticeable), and the worst case is, you foul a plug. I'd suggest covering the holes and go out for a ride before you go to see if your gonna be having any plug problems or sputtering. My bet is you'll be fine.
  19. what clip is your needle in, if you said already, sorry, didn't see it. Just play with your needle some, richen it one more (since you leaned your pilot) and see if it runs better. Scott
  20. The .060 bore won't change your jetting too much, it's really not too much of an increase in displacement. If your concerned about being lean with the 185, and you can read the plugs, throw in a 200 and run a plug check. That will tell you if you need to lean or richen. My shee likes it a little richer than most I've encountered so keep that in mind. Here's what I'd do, I'd set the needle (if you could get to it) in the 4th clip from the top/blunt. Then I'd throw in a 200 main and run a plug check. If it needs to be richer or leaner, I'd adjust accordingly. Once I'm satisfied with the main jet, I'd adjust the pilot for the proper idle and response. A 48 or 50 pilot should be pretty darn close. As far as idle screw, are you sure you turning the black, plastic screw and not the brass looking air screw? Read BenBB's Jetting FAQ to get some more info on reading plugs. Scott
  21. sure, give it a shot with the 25s and if need be, order the 27.5s after you see how the 25s work. Scott
  22. fantastico.
  23. That hits the nail right on the head. If you want more low / midrange the single carb is the ticket. It's perfect for mx & xc but not limited to those. It's great in the dunes and pretty much any type of riding, even 1/8th drags. Any longer or pure heavily modded stroker, you'd want the twins. Under most normal circumstances, you can't go wrong with the single. Also, take in consideration, the easier tuning with only one carb, no syncing, and much less mess in the engine area.
  24. it also might die on ya.
