Well Hell I'm going to Glamis that week so I wont be there. There Are no fees, Flags and helmets are not required because there are no cops or park officials at the dunes. But I would recommend you always wear a helmet when riding at the dunes or any where for that matter. it only takes one drop off or razor back to really mess up your whole week. 8' Flags would also be a wise investment because on the trails there are quit a few blind corners. If you dont run paddle tires be prepared to spend alot of money on fuel because you'll burn twice as much. The week of spring break usually isn't that busy so if your bringing an rv you shouldn't have a problem having a place to park. If you get lost on the east side of the road just keep going and you will eventually come out on the perimitter trail them just go left or right and you will make it back to camp. Have Fun And Be safe

I ride there every weekend what would you like to know? What week do you get out for spring break?
-
Well rider does have alot to do with it. I've beat piped BANSHEEs with my 450 by 3-4 bikes on more than one occasion. But my wife's ported banshee will put 3-4 bike lengths on me on the 450.

I raced the new honda last weekend. and was impressed with the results. A friend of mine got the first one to hit the show room floor and had the cam changed and some bullsh** new insert installed in the stock pipe before he picked it up. My YFZ has a yoshi pipe, cam mod & K&N filter. We raced twice and it was a pretty close race both times in about 300 ft. I'd say I only pulled him by about 2 Bike lengths.

thanks for the help.

I have a set of the FMF power valve cylinders wich were made for FMF by the same people who make the T-Rex cylinders I was just wondering if someone could tell me why the pistons dont have any intake windows on the pistons? and if so if I cut intake ports in them on a mill do you think this would hurt or help the performance of the engine.

I have 2 Banshees and a YFZ450. this last weekend I was beating piped banshees all day long and a few with port work. there was also a few madded raptors out there that could not keep up.
-
If your down this way and you don't have your banshee with you just let me know and you can ride one of mine.

Just what I needed thanks alot.

did the cpi pipes help more on the top end or overall?
-
I'm Thinking of getting rid of my toomey t5's and getting some cpi in frames has anyone here made the same switch and if so would you do it again. I just recently changed cylinders to fmf monoblock power valve cylinders and it feels like the pipes maybe holding i back on the big end.

Does anybody know what the gear ratios are for 1st thru sixth on a stock banshee transmission?

I Also live about 45 minutes from kermit and I'm there just about every weekend. I've also been to Waynoka and I't was a blast as well. there were some pretty impresive quads and rails there the weekend we were there and the guy at the store told us it was a slow weekend. However as far as riding goes I would prefer to ride at Kermit any day. there is so much more sand to ride and the busiest weekend I've ever seen at Kermit would not even come close to the amount of people I seen at LS that weekend. I urge anybody that can make the drive to come check it out for themselves I honestly dont think anybody would be disappointed. I've met people from california, Kentucky, arkansas, Oklahoma, and even Florida and they all loved it and said they would be back. If anybody is coming down just let me know and I'll meet you there and show you around I rode ther so much I dont even get lost anymore

well I think its going to happen it's just a matter of time. and what sucks is theres nothing that any of use or yamaha can do about it but except it. As far as not buying from yamaha if they let it happen that is bullshit and if thats the way you feel maybe you should be riding a 400EX. I own two banshees that I would not have if yamaha had tucked its tail like the other manufactures did in the late 80's. I mean how many of your bike are newer than an '89 think about it. I also just bought a new YFZ450 and im sure when my wife gets a chance to ride it in the dunes she'll want one as well. Yamaha has my respect and my business and allways will.

Fmf Power Valve Cyl. Vs. Drag Ported 420 Cyl
axle replied to axle's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Well I got Them So Far I've Noticed two thing wrong with them the left side power valve cap is cracked and the way it is pushed in it is keeping the power valve from opening. (Not even half way) the second thing I noticed is there are some nylon inserts in the reed cage that straighten the air flow into the cylinder. well the way he had them installed almost half the intake on the right side was blocked off. So I think these two things combined would cause the problem of not wanting to rev out like he described. I called K&T Performance and they said they could port them for $600. Maybe in the future but for right now I'm just going to clean up all the casting flaws in the intake and tranfer pots and polish the exhaust. Maybe I can get these Cylinders to run the way there suppost to in the next couple of weeks I'll let you all Know how it turns out. -
Maybe instead of saying quarter he ment to say quart of oil.

Thank You all for your input I'm glad to hear the 20hr. thing is BS if I had to change them every 20 hrs. i'd have to change them every 2-3 weeks. I'm pretty sure that would get expensive really quick. the bad news is that my friend wants to try a few more thing before he gives up on them entirely he found out tonight that the left side power valve cap is cracked and the power valve was carboned up and stuck in the open position. I've never wished bad luck upon anybody, untill tonight. I should know somthing by this weekend so I'll let you all know what he desides. -
I've heard that yamaha was going to remove the BANSHEE from their line up for 7 years now and it still hasn't happened yet. However I'm sure that it is coming the Question is when. But in my oppinion there will never be a bike that can replace the BANSHEE.

I allready have a 4mm Stroker crank that I tried In my last set of cylinders but It was recommended by my porter to go back to the stock crank and it would run better. (It ripped on the top end but on the bottom end it ran like crap.) Port timing Issue I guess. So what do you all think about the FMF cylinders w/ drag porting, The 4MM stroker crank and getting rid of my T5's and getting some CPI in frames. Also I have 34MM PJ's do you think these would be good enough or should I look for some different carbs also. I dont Mean to ask so many Questions But I'm Tired of spending My money in Places that turn out not to help. -

The Guy Didn't really say. I just asked him how long they should last and he said they should be replaced every twenty hrs. sounds like BS to me, but hey he sales them so who am I to argue right.
