Are the threads on the front sprocket R or L
cgamla replied to cgamla's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Hit it with my 1/2 inch Snap-On impact gun pretty damn hard. I don't ever remember having this problem before. Yeah the little tabbies are bent back and out of the way. As long as I know lefty loosey. i'll get it one way or another. Just really tight on there is all I guess. -
My front sprocket nut seems to really difficult to get off. I just want to make sure I'm twisting it the right way before I get rough with it. Is this thing Left or right hand threads. Hate to make that mistake you know.

How about the pistons are in backwards.

80 or 90 wt gear oil whoollyy mollley. How bout atf or hydraulic oil , or even brake fluid and power steering fluid mixed with castor oil. Seriously though what would be the reason for heavy wt gear oil. I think that with the clutch in there I would be more inclined to use something like atf if I were to switch from 10-w30.

Looking for some front wheels to fit my banshee. No gold ones please. I need the standard off set. Shipped to 48730. Also still need a seat.
-
So whats the reason for them being in there then? Yamaha must of put them in there because they thought they were needed?
-
i am putting in a stock clutch and I have some rubber riings that look like they go around the plates or something. Where do they go and should I have one for each plate or what.

Like it says I need a stinkin seat. Sell me one I pay american money or maybe beer. I want blue or grey cover if possible . Thinking bout tying a bale of hay to the frame right about now. Had a lot of beer toinight and it's gettin realy drunk out. Still need a seat shipped to 48730. At least thats where i expect to wake up. Could be wrong though. Like I said its really drunk here and hard to see. javascript:emoticon('') javascript:emoticon('')

Yeah your right about the ground path. Pipes contact the cylinder head but the engine and pipes were electrically isolated other than the ground from the stator. Now I need to build a new harness.

Things like this are hard to admit to but I will do it just so someone else maybe wont. If just for instance you might need to weld the little spring hoops on your exhaust pipe and say you just get all gung ho and do it right on the bike and lets say you happen to put the ground on ohh maybe lets say the foot peg I have noticed that after the second weld the entire wiring harnes from the stator up to the ground by the cdi will melt and catch fire. Just thought I might tell you that. Sucks to be me huh?

I bought a crummy stock head off ebay expecting it to have the little water spout on it but it does not. If any one has one please tell me how much. It's the little one that bolts on the back side of the head and faces down. Thanks Chad

Check out atvnc.com They have where to ride section. I just left south eastern NC after living there for 10 years primarily due to the lack of trails. They are big on mx tracks though. I was especially fond of mx-58 in maysville because they had a atv only track with good facilites. Also jacsonville mx park is good that is south of Jacksonville. There are no trails on that side of the state and croatan will just get you ticketed . I have heard that bucks had gone down hill since the owner had died a while back but the guys on atvnc.com can give you current report. Good luck Chad

Thanks for the replies all. I think the comment about the floats not being set right may have been right on. I noticed that the floats would "bottom "out on on the top of the carb at just about the same time the spring loaded plunger on the needle was about 1/3rd of the way down. If that thing was bouncing around at all I'm sure the fuel level would be too high in the bowl. I'll dial that in and rejet when I get back up to Michigan in the end of July. I'm in NC now. 1000 miles away. Thanks again for the info from everyone it's really good to have alot of opinions on stuff like this.

good point but then I would have to listen to all that damn intake noise that I hear every time I put that air box on.

Did you change the plugs. MIne will always foul the left side plug first for whatever reason and then it will ping every now and again on that side but mostly it is just stuck running on the right until I change the plug. You could try changing the plugs side for side and see if your missfire goes with the plug to the other side.

civic shmivick. I'm concerned because 23 miles is the shortest leg on the trail system I ride. It's not like I can just pull over and fill up anywhere out there. And this seems crazy excessive for fuel useage. I'm gettin like 4-5 miles to a gallon for a vehicle that weighs 600 lbs with my fat ass on it. I think it should get at least twice that. How many hours is jeepman riding his to use a tank in a day. I can empty mine for about an hour and a half and empty itwith just moderate throttle settings. Thats way to much.

yeah just the connectors will be different

Hey last weekend I got a chance for the first time to ride my shee on some long trails. I used a full tank plus the reserve to make it about 23 miles. and I was going slow enough to let someone on a 230 timberwolf keep up. Right when I got to the end of the trip I fouled a plug. Then we gassed up and did it all over again and I got the same results. Had to switch to reserve about 4 miles before we hit the truck. I figure thats about 46 miles on two tanks of fuel. That 230 timberwolf used about a gallon and a half. I'm not leaking fuel and my jetting couldn't be that far off could it.Even if I was on the rich side could I use this much fuel. Has any one else taken a good look at their fuel useage. I really thought that cv 33 would give me good mileage. I'm running a 45 pilot 170 main with the clip in the center position of the needle.
-
Hey just a note on this. I just played Jetting roulette for well lets just say longer than I ever should have only to find out that the float level in mine was set wrong also found out just how critical it was. It was so far off that I was running a 155 main and a 40 pilot and I was so friggin rich it was unreal. The casting line on the plastic float should rest parallel lto the carb body when you turn it upside down with the float bowl off. If its not gently bend the tab that presses the needle to the seat until it is.

Comment on that airbox thing. I have a trinity 33 cv set up with the airbox adapter and I'll be danged if I can get the thing to line up without cutting on my airbox mounts.
-
When I bought mine it was like that which is why I got it so cheap. I had to rev the living crap out of it to get it running and if it dropped below the midrange I had to pull in the clutch and hold it wide open and pray it would start to speed up. Turned out all it was was a broken reed. That was so cool . I got like two grand off the purchase price for a twenty dollar reed. Yeah it would backfire and spit occasionally too.
-
Same thing happened to me. Turned out one of my rings broke and hung up on an exhaust port the rest was downhill from there. I ended up putting sleeves and a crank in along with new pistons.
-
I know I would need a hammer. Yeah a hammer made of steel.

I have a 33 cv set up from Trinity. Seems to pull pretty good off the bottom but you lose that top 10% or so. Midrange is awsome with pt mids and 20 cc domes I ride really tight woods most of the the time so its great for me. Super insanely easy to change jetting also. I can't imagine that the 35 mm from them is a huge difference . Maybe someone else can chime in if they've ridden both.
