the timing would have to be alterd. Think about it when the engine is running normal it sparks before TDC if it was backwards it would then be sparking after TDC which wouldnt run. also the water pump would be spinning the wrong way and wouldnt circulate coolant ad that to air not being able to flow over the rad things would get hot
