You can remove the paint with a paint remover and then polish it or remove the paint as you polish it.I used a bench grinder with a polishig wheel and some polishing rouge for most of it, but you will need a dremal tool or something of it nature to get into the tight spots

Here's mine. I did it by sanding it with 220 grit, then 320, then 400, then hit it on my polishing wheels. My wheels are 8" diameter, which means they are too damn big to get into all the tight spots. For that you need mini sanding tapers, and mini buffs. You could also use mini buffs embedded or coated with 320 grit. Bright Works and Casewell Plating have kits that look better than the Eastwood kit I bought years ago to mess around with.

After riding I might hand buff it with some Mothers. Being cast aluminum, it won't polish as shiney as billet, at least that is what I have found with cast aluminum.

I don't if it is true but was told that to polish the jugs(cylinders) wasn't a good thing to do to ride it ,it would cause it to run hot.Just a thought, and the rouge I used is the gray it is for cast metals and cuts fast, then went over it with the whiteit is for general use and puts a gloosy shine on most metals. You can clear coat it after you are done to help the shin stay with out so much rubbing. It does look good but takes some time to do.Thanks :headbang:

Dont worry about it, if you want to polish your cylinders go ahead.People are running polished jugs in Glamis so if it doesnt cause them to overheat we should be safe.

Very true but its close.

True, it does get close. One thing I did notice, is every now and again, there was spot that looked different. I think its just impurities in the aluminum casting material. It kind of looks like a hard water spot or something, that would polish, but would look "whiter" that the rest of the aluminum.
