icecold_shee Posted November 21, 2005 Report Posted November 21, 2005 Ok, im thinking about getting the gorr woods port, i would like to hear from people who have this port job and how they like it. It will be used mainly for trails and occasional duning. How would it perform with t5's, +4 timing, 20cc domes, stock carbs, maybe some 33's later. Quote
Toomey Banshee Posted November 22, 2005 Report Posted November 22, 2005 Cover that dome there fella. Quote
BigRed350x Posted November 22, 2005 Report Posted November 22, 2005 Sounds like a good combo to me. If you really want low end, go with the 2 into 1 pipe Quote
locogato11283 Posted November 22, 2005 Report Posted November 22, 2005 my bros setup was as follows. gorr woods port, 18cc domes, 33mm pwk, t5s. the bike flat out ripped. talk about low end power. that bike was the baddest ass trail rider and hillclimber. i say go for it, u wont be disappointed. Banshee17Racing Posted November 22, 2005 Report Posted November 22, 2005 I REALLY recommend Gorr's port for trails. I've never been to the dunes, but I'd assume the port would work great there, too. When I first had my bike ported, I had T-5's, 21 cc domes, +4 timing, stock carbs, V-Force 2's, and a lightened flywheel. Since then I've changed to a 2 into 1 carb w/a 34 mm PJ, and Pro Circuits. The port will rip your arms off. I couldn't believe how easy it was to get the front end off the ground. The port had plenty of mid-range with the T-5's, which was something I was worried about. wooten Posted November 22, 2005 Report Posted November 22, 2005 whats the price on this port job and how much down time should be expected Quote
bigboybanshee Posted November 22, 2005 Report Posted November 22, 2005 Here's his website where pricing and contact info can be found: http://ericgorr.com/ I recommend you call him for an accurate turnaround time. Everyone I've heard that runs his woods port loves it. If I were to build a banshee for trails/MX, I'd be giving Eric a call Quote
decon Posted November 22, 2005 Report Posted November 22, 2005 i've always wanted to compare the gorr woods port to the patriot mx port on stock stroke. not trying to hi-jack your thread or anything but it would be nice to hear what pipes respond the best with the port. Quote
stclark816 Posted November 22, 2005 Report Posted November 22, 2005 I ran the Gorr Woods port for a long long time. Perfect for trails. I never got it out on the dunes, but it was a hell of a drag racer too. Wasnt the fastest, but for sure wasnt the slowest. Quote
icecold_shee Posted November 22, 2005 Author Report Posted November 22, 2005 i wanted to keep my existing pipes, just didnt know if it would respond well with my pipes, also didnt wanna lose on the topend, stclark, what pipes, carbs, and gearing were you runnin? Quote
PUSH THE THROTTLE Posted November 22, 2005 Report Posted November 22, 2005 stclark, what pipes, carbs, and gearing were you runnin? 440284 He had T5's, 33 PWK's I think and something like 16/44 gearing correct me if I'm wrong Stephen. I run T5's, 35 single PWK, and 15/40. Quote

I run T5's, 35 single PWK, and 15/40. 440289 thats all right. stephen ran anywhere from 14/41 to 17/41 gearing. ran best with around 16/41..had a lot of low end grunt to get it out of the hole.. icecold_shee Posted November 22, 2005 Author Report Posted November 22, 2005 push the throttle, so if u had it to do over again, would you go again with the same port job? Quote

I could pull about any gearing.. push the throttle, so if u had it to do over again, would you go again with the same port job? 440298 I actually sold my old cylinders to Ryan. Ive seen him post good feedback about them before, Im not sure if anything has changed.... Quote
PUSH THE THROTTLE Posted November 22, 2005 Report Posted November 22, 2005 push the throttle, so if u had it to do over again, would you go again with the same port job? 440298 Depends on what it's for. The only other machine that has beat me in a drag was a 2005 450X dirtbike, on wet grass. If I'm building a woods/mx machine yes I would no question, I'd also maybe see if I could get a 4mm version from Gorr. If you ride fast sand or do alot of dragging I don't see why anybody would look at anything other than cubs unless it's a money factor. Also STCLARK and I both ran or run about 180psi in the cylinders with a NOSS head. Quote
